Natural Selection 2 "teaser" video

It is a standalone commercial sequel to the popular Half-life mod and is scheduled for release in Fall 2009... It is now 1 month from 2012 and the game is still not playable.

You can pay to play what is claimed to be a beta, but it's still very far from being finished. With an average framerate of 20-30 FPS during combat (On a computer that runs 120 FPS on other similar games), I would guess that the game is at least a year from being playable.

It's probably not going to be out until early 2011, but judging by the chunk of bug fixes in the first wave of invites after alpha, they should be done around that time. Once they add more gameplay elements, it should be a much bigger game than it is now. Currently in alpha, there's only 3 playable alien races, marines only have basic armor (upgradable, though), rifle, grende launcher (attached to rifle), and a shotgun. The game has a long way to go, sadly. But ittle be a fun ride

Unknown Worlds (The dev's of NS2) Arn't having the game published by any of the big companies.

Publishers pay the budget to get the game done by a certain date, and they take most of the profit.

NS2 is made by a small indie team, they are making the game off of the Pre-order benefits, so the more pre-orders, the faster the game comes out and also, they listen to the community very well.

If you don't want to buy the game based on these facts alone, may i suggest you fuck off back to MW2?

I played it on a 50 PC LAN at a university back in 2002 or 2003, it was an amazing gameplay experience, I didnt play it enough to know about any bad patches which came out later. Only bad thing I remember was the areas were a little too tight, some more open spaces in the 2nd one would be welcome.

I had several assloads of fun playing the first natural selection, years ago. But as I get older, new games only hold my attention for a week or so. I want to get excited about NS2 but at the same time, there's a reason I'm not playing 1. Damn, look at them red -'s come in. After you hit your FPS plateau, there's really nothing to do but explore the maps. Strategies will become dominant under specific conditions, deviation will be discouraged (newb!!11), and the game will stagnate again.
