I love the channel promotion at the end, makes everyone want to engage! rock on! Please check out my channel at "ortegajrdotcom" : Let me know what you think :)
Great video as always and I like the idea of featuring your subscriber's channels to encourage good practises.
I watch thoroughly all of your shows in order to improve my channel. I'm actually doing a world tour to meet fair trade producers and make movies about them. My goal is to give them a powerfull marketing tool with my videos. I'm in Laos right now.
Maybe you could mention Fair Trade connection in one of your next shows, I could use a boost in my audience.
I'm a recently new subscriber... great stuff! Thanks for sharing all this info/tips/tricks with those of us trying to grow our channel/brand. I really appreciate it! :o)
I sent a video response (v=k4It6dr9Aq0) it was my first attempt at doing an Infinite white background like you do here, what do you think of the layout, and the overall presentation?
@BusterSenshi Sweet, I saw it good job! Probably won't approve it as a response to this video since it's not really a response to this video, but you did good just the same.
Great video as always! I think it'd be great if you showcased one (or more) of your subscribers that have over 1000 subscribers each week. I find that's a good minimum amount of subscribers anyone who posts good content consistently would have.
@JoshRimer Yeah, I agree 1,000 is probably a good number unless it appears that those subs were gained through grey-hat tactics. I'd be willing to go to a few hundred subs if the content just seemed outstanding and totally worthy of more subs, but 1,000 seems like a good rule of thumb.
@roostertrading Yeah, I actually covered it in this video. I just use the shotgun mic I showed, although I run it into a Zoom H4N instead of into the camera.
Solid stuff again. Check out our channel, we launched about 4 months ago and have been trying out a bunch of different sketch comedy stuff. Feature us that'd be awesome!
@whoaComedy Sounds good. I already have a list of about 16 channels to highlight next, so we'll see after that. (I don't remember if you're on the list already or not, sorry.)
Once again, Brilliant. And the incentive idea is absolutely solid! Definitely keeping up with you guys in regards to what you're doing. keep it up! I've got some pretty sweet stuff coming very soon myself! ;)
Great video. Thanks for making it :) About being consistent... A lot of people, me included, gets lost in hardware/software problems. You really have to be a jack of all trades to make a successful channel.
@svinehunden What kind of hardware/software problems are you talking about? Like, not understanding how to use your editing tools? Or not having a computer to do editing on?
Spotlighting videos is always a good idea, and ThePianoShack is a great one to start with. Chris is amazing, putting up music videos, short films and vlogs in a consistent manner that all have the air of professionalism to them.
Since I haven't heard of the other two, I'm glad you spotlighted them so I can check them out.
Once I have my channel up and running with content, I'll let you know and you can come check it out.
@reelseo I can't stop singing "This Christmas", it's so damn catchy! Chris is awesome. And it's because of him that I'm here, so it comes full circle.
I love the idea of highlighting different channels each week. It really gives people who produce videos a chance to get ideas and advice from other successful channels on YouTube. We tried a weekly online marketing tip video but had so much trouble keeping up with it.
@searchenginefirm Yeah, I think next week's Creator's Tip video is going to be on how to stay consistent without it sucking up a lot of time and commitment. Several people have indicated the same thing you have.
This is good stuff when the world (my world) is saturated with 'how to' vids and all I hear is video is the 'THING' at the moment - your stuff cuts to the quick. Hits the spot, takes the biscuit etc, etc. Featuring great video channels is a great new idea - more please, 'stick with it' as they say....
@ImpactAssault I probably won't highlight a subscriber that's doing something that needs improvement. That just kinda sounds mean. However, I might talk generically about a lesson we can learn based from our subscribers like I did in this video. I don't wanna call anyone out as making a mistake, though.
@MrLoganloganlogan You could, but the chances of me getting around to watching it anytime soon are pretty low. Sorry, I know that sounds cold, but I just wanna be honest with ya. I've got a lot of other stuff to stay on top of, ya know?
My friends and I make short films (not on this channel) and we are currently making two. One has taken about a month so far and will probably be released within one month, but the other is effects- heavy and will probably take another 2-3 months to finish. How do you suggest we go about timing the releases? We tried to make a tutorial series (Filmtastic Fridays with ThoseFilmGuys), but it just didn't work out (lack of ideas, school, transportation, ect.)
@GeekinsteinTutorials Two cool videos are great, but you gotta make them part of a regular schedule, whatever that schedule might be for you guys. You get to pick the schedule, but less than once a week and people will tend to forget about you too quickly and its hard to build momentum. Maybe a vlog or something simple once a week and a big produced video once a month as you get started?
Tip: don't assume audio mix made with a hifi headphones will sound usable on eg. iPhone. My system there is no issue hearing my voice during the music in one vid, most cheap systems it just blurs together.
@4siteVideo Cool, thanks for the feedback. I'll probably just highlight people who are doing stuff right and talk about the stuff people are doing wrong kinda generically instead of pointing them out. That wouldn't be too cool. :)
Tim, once again buddy....can't thank you enough for the mention!!!! :) I really appreciate the support! Great vid & I checked out & subscribed to the other channels you mentioned as well. Take care!
Awesome tips. Doesn't really apply to me since all I do is cheap animation right now but I'll be sure to refer to this if I ever dive into live action. :)
@reelseo It's was just really useful technical tips. You engaged your subs because you said you looked at what they were doing on their channels. I watch of a lot of videos with content like yours and one of the things you could talk about is how to make money. People can talk about making good content, seo, etc but new Youtubers just need a win sometimes so they can see what they have to do make a decent amount of money off online video.
@Debonair73 Hmm... well, maybe once I start making a decent amount of money on YouTube I'll be in a position to give that kind of advice. :) From what I understand, though, if you get into it to make money you won't last because it's a long, hard process to get to that point. Like I said, it takes years, not months, to build an audience that pays.
@reelseo It's certain technics you can use to get views. For example, I see a lot of YTers make videos on whatever is a hot search item, like a new music video from a major artists. They put a custom thumbnail of the music video on their video and put "review" in their video title. They play the search lotto and hope people click on their video thinking it's the real video. These YTers do this with hundred of videos & it's hit or miss most of the time.
@Debonair73 If you look at their total views it's in the millions of views though, I can list 10 YTers that do this and YT use to call this false thumbnailing but they now encourgage it in their Youtube Playbook as long as the video is about what's in the thumbnail. I mean if you look at MeganSpeaks for example she does this all the time. Megan is a cute girl, so she uses mostly thumbnails of herself but the technic is common on the site.
@Debonair73 Even major YTers like sxePhil and TheYoungTurks basically use this technic. They just have a personality that make people want to hear their take on an issue or topic which allow them to build a following.
@Debonair73 Oh right, I know what you're saying. The people we're focused on at ReelSEO aren't really people who are just trying to make content in order to get seen by the general public or even to make money directly off the videos. ReelSEO is video marketing site, so we focus more on people who use online video to promote, sell, or communicate something. A music video and thumbnail gaming isn't part of what they're trying to do, if that makes sense.
i like the idea of giving shout outs to different channels, though i feel like you should just make a video a week for that. i love watching the ReelSEO but can't always afford to watch a 8-11 minute video! thanks for the tips though! you all really rock!! #schmoyersarmy
@jazminekhan Yeah, this one was pretty long since I highlighted some channels in it. My goal is as short as possible, which usually sends up being in the 7-8 minute range. Trying to work on that.
I thought about making the channel tips/highlights a new video series, but I don't think I can carve out the time to do that right now. It'd be much easier for me to include them as part of the Reel Web or something.
@MsIleaneSpeaks Aww man! Ugh, I hate little mistakes like that. lol Thanks for pointing it out, although at this point I'll just have to hope no one else is as smart as you. ;)
@iVidify yeah, I'm sure a lot of people will like to take part. I've already picked about 15 channels I think I'd like to highlight. After that I guess I'll just skim through the subscriber base again.

Hi, just a little feedback of what I´ve learnt from your vids:
- focus on one topic (acoustic guitar;-) with a lot of variety in that one topic (niche)
- having a closer look at analytics; who is watching the vids, country, language, age
- making it natural, a normal person so to say
- regulary uploads, with some surprises of content (variety of music styles)
and last but not least: I improve my English (you´re so fast, lol)
Thanx
