I vaugely recall meeting some lads who appeared on the show who said the guy with the big hair at the end of this vid was a right grouchy cnut who would get very annoyed at their 'unprofessionalism' whenever they started to enjoy themselves, he'd smile at the camera during a take and then scowl and shout at them when it didn't go perfect, they didn't have a good time and it showed on the show, they looked stiff as boards and stuttered a lot.
Jenny Hanley always went live on air without wearing any panties. I read an interview she did in Forum magazine ,she insisted it gave her an enormous thrill, knowing lots of teenage boys were looking at her, whilst she was totally knickerless. She often came off air, dripping wet with pleasure.
It just makes me wonder how many other of our favourite female tv presenters do this???. I believe Thora Hird also did this in Last of the Summer Wine, .. the dirty bitch!!!
I once heard a story from my uncle--who worked at Thames--that he walked into a lift to find Freddy Mercury having sex with Mick Robertson, thinking that he was Brian May. According to my uncle, Mick didn't seem to mind.....
How radical was that theme tune? The series ran from 1972-1980 and remember how it was the ITV rival to Blue Peter - the music was from a group called the Murgatroyd Band released in 1968!
Who/which band sang the title song ?

Thanks for posting.
The RR Merlin engined car looks interesting.
I wonder how many Blue Peter eps still survive. Although BP was transmitted live the shows were always recorded as broadcast (as far as I'm aware).
