@ChuckBorrisSkate Their both pretty good. I have both of them, and it really depends on your style of play. If you like metal, go for the epiphone sg. If you like easy-going rock, go for the les paul. Just remember that the les paul has a switch near the top to change the tone.

@julianking93 Well first of all on the G400 the finish lets you see the wood, the pickups are better as they´re coil-waxed, the tuners are Grover, and fretboard inlay is a traezoid while the G310 has a dot. But try them both as on sound and feel issues, there are little differences.

Plus, I like the finish of the Alpine White G400 anyway :P

@julianking93 Well SG sounds really good on clean, with warm and balanced sounds, with distortion you can go from blues to hard rock, and with overdrive it is incredibly good. It is not for shredding as an Ibanez, but I don´t like Ibanez, I think they sound too bright. If you like single coils you can install a coil tap on the g400. The ibanez may be versatile for metal sounds, they have a tremolo and hotter pickups, but anything else will not sound as good on it

A G310 was my 1st guitar I eventually smashed it and got a Gibson SG standard.

I picked one up again while at a guitar shop and was blown away after how good the neck feels despite its price it feels much better than the G400's and is much thinner than the gibsons.

start off with an electric, the bodies are smaller and easier to handle than acoustics, there are alot of good guitars for beginners and this is defintley one.... but every guitar is different from another and when i was buying an sg i went with the g-400 beause the pickips on the g-310 were just way to noisy. and theres nothing wrong with a squier strat/tele to start.
