  • if you been to Asia, you must know in order to go school, you need to take exam to the school you want to attend. The better the middle/high school you wanna to enroll, the entrance exams are mad hard. We can see they are hard workers.

  • mind blown

  • @Quu4life. So am I!

  • I'm an Indian who lives in London , I am Very familiar about the academic intensity from cambridge to IIT but this is just maddening

    They have invisible keyboards. :D

Putting jokes aside, maybe it's time for humans to research about a new language purely intended for thinking. I suggest because when I think of something, grasping the idea though English or my native tongue can be a bit slow. Who knows, I bet the grammatical structure of both languages has something to do with it.

  • If the lower 4 beads represent 1 to 4, then, why not have ONE lower bead which moves in 4 or 5 positions? ONE top bead represents 5 and ONE lower bead represents 0 to 4? [Column drawn as a row to save comment space]:

    0 1 [2] 3 4 || [5] 0 Two beads per column? This displays 7. So, then,

    0 1 2 3 [4] || [5] 0  This displays 9? Transparent, perspex sliders?

  • @robotiqz1

It would work theoretically, and you can very well build such a tool. But I think it would not be as efficient as a soroban for human beings to use,

Look at the way people use a soroban, you just push from the right bead up or down the full way. Your systeme would require precise positioning of the bead, which takes more time and precision than the standard soroban

  • actually really, someone answer me that. What the fuck does this have to do with even being able to comprehend 10 4-digit numbers in three seconds? I could barely follow each number.

  • can anyone explain to me how this bullshit abacus is supposed to let you read numbers super-speed? sure the children "find it easy", the numbers were flashing twice a fucking second.

  • @mrcatfacefrog Your brain is able to pick information faster than you think, just with some practice. you just need to make the neural connections.

I've doing a bit of this stuff. it's really hard, but it gets easier with practice. It really solidifies your visual imagination.

  • @DaKrazedKyubizt Yah I know what you mean, and it could be all reduced down to the nueral. Then again, people do things all the time that apparently defy supposed caps on neural impulse transfer speeds. I think I've heard hitting a 90+ mile and hour fast ball touted as one example, but there are better ones.

I remember watching a good video on here, showing that individual synapse connections can fully detach and reattach else where in a day, and they do in fact do this all the time.

  • @DaKrazedKyubizt I've been trying to find information on attempts to utilize brain plasticity in odd ways but I'm just getting typical brain trauma people who remakes main neural pathways for motor sensory stuff. something like enhance brain plasticity? controlled brain plasticity? integrated ?(into what i don't know. The brain is so special, so super mailable, re-arrangeable, selectively strengthening,, a pretty near perfect super computer. i know the military has got a keen eye on what i mean

  • omg. I feeld so dumb right now. x_X

  • Thats it.... I give up... i'm fucked...

  • That's why Asia is where the future is heading to.

    Great way to evolve :D

  • They're training mentats! We're doomed!

  • I feel so asianfail. @_@

  • @xaniras you are not the only oneeee ..T_T ...私は失望だ TT_TT

  • my dad used to use his soroban to do complex engeneering calculation and still uses it. he is japanese.

  • Next step, world domination

  • Japan has more children with higher IQ's than the average american than america HAS kids!

  • Fuck I hate my school. In England we just get given a sheet of 100 multiplications that are all pretty much the same and if you finish those they just give you more, wow great teaching going on there.

  • I used to teach that :)

  • I bought a Soroban off ebay and it works great and I can already add up numbers and take them away much much eaiser it works like a simplifier and clears your mind of complication but I have a lot to learn.

  • Japanese are so wise!

  • @twintowerxx They copied it from the Chinese. You'll find that much of Japan's traditions, including martial arts, were copied from the Chinese.

  • @bloggerblog The soroban seems more practical to me.

  • @bloggerblog and vice versa.. the chinese 1 had 5 at the bottum and 1 in the heavens the japanese 1 has 1 in the heavens and 4 at the bottum

  • @dandanme Doesn't the chinese one have two heavenly beads?

  • It's amazing!

Learn to use soroban is fantastic.

  • damn their eyes are quick, they would never fall for all the flash subliminals put in our media/tv...

  • In schools in America they teach you everything except number sense. There so hell bent on showing you algebra. I am not a natural at math and considered myself pretty hopeless until I learned about number sense, something I never picked up in school and is generally what they are teaching these kids. Basically teaching kids how to solve a problem logically and efficiently instead of mechanically going through some stale time consuming process.God for bid you learn to subtract from left to right

  • fuck me, thats brutal talent!! dammit, why dont we learn to count like that over here??? they actually can do large number multiply and div. calculations only in there heads, cant they? so sick! big respect to those who can master that technique!

  • Any one can add, not every one can write proofs.

  • @coltsfancolts the whole point of the abacus is to prepare both sides of the brain for the future. it's not like it works one part of your brain.

  • Look people, adding like those kids is something everybody can do given a soroban and if they just use some time.

  • "54,434" well of course it is

  • I see no point in that. For more complex math (wich include linear algebra, complex numbers and so on) you have to deal with in the industry you have to use computer algebra systems. Now and in the future. It would be much better if these little children got to know to the CAS. So this mental arithmetic is just nonsens in my opinion.

  • Implying stuff from factoring to advanced calc. concepts are not significant?

  • fake

  • asians superior

  • @KiNPiN1835 Well... they can be bothered to do these things.

  • theyre breeding mentats in japan

  • nao é fake seu animal

  • This is creepy.

  • Fake

  • I go to an international school and every single japanese student in my grade is in maths high level.

  • Now im begining to really understand why norwegian schools suck. I really gotta get myself on of those.

  • I was at DAN4... =)

  • I've got one!

Im up to division on the soroban!

    The I think I'll be in advanced!Yay!

  • I've got one! :)

  • but can they fingerpaint

  • LOL, the west is screwed!!!

  • watch and learn you stupid people from the west.....

  • ... and the answer from the west is right there under »Related Videos«: the iPhone Abacus!

    (* facepalm *)

All jokes aside, I'd really like to learn those calculation techniques but as with most things I started, I guess I'll get sidetracked too easily.

  • @kuckmadaaa: People from the West aren't "stupid" they are just miseducated. Apparently, Western elites don't want the children coming from common families to learn too much. If Western children were educated the same way as Japanese or Chinese are, then they would be as advanced as them.

Besides, mental abacus doesn't have anything to do with "intelligence" - because these children don't "think" when they count - they are just like robots - mechanically give the answer.

  • @kuckmadaaa

what about democracy and human rights??! Ever heard sth about it ? You stupid people from the south east.....

  • i like how the video is 3:14 :)

  • Dude, i think this calls for Godzilla...

  • Its official, I'm dumb.

  • Damn, we're fucked.

  • true buddy

    very true

the japanese are going to take over

  • @dhanedhar: Actually, Japan's economy isn't as good as it used to be, so it's more probable that China will soon become the largest economy making USA the second and Japanese the third.

  • at least japanese economy is the third

my countries economy i don't what rank it has

    are you japanese

  • @eklipst2x Get ebaying!! lol

  • I am over 30, but I believe that I could make that. So, I'II start to study in a few days. I love calculation in mind.

  • AWESOME

  • LONG LIVE JAPAN!!!

  • Cool! Really Cool! I wish I had this training when I was young!

  • Amazing! Thanks for sharing

  • Thanks for the video. But i think its too late for me now to learn it. lol it's crazy!!

  • no you can man depends on your age

  • A B C D E F G...Dam it, they're done!...lol

  • anyone can do if practice

  • @s4159653: Are you sure? Have you take into consideration that children learn much faster than adults and once you reach certain age your brain cells slowly start to die? I can assure you, that a typical 50-year-old American wouldn't be able to learn it, no matter how much he would practice.

  • I can imagine these children's minds are sponges. I wonder if they can do powers and inverse equations or not?

Does the soroban accomodate these functions?

  • @00Maximilian Yes. Can you do these functions with pencil and paper or with slide rule? Then you certainly can do it on soroban, and usually in a very intuitive visual way.

  • Dammmm you America!

  • lol

  • What video does this come from?

  • Ho Lay Shiat

  • @PartyGamingPlc: Enough said.

  • Japan rules! America is trash compared to Japan!

  • Soroban is originated from China.

  • damn. now i feel dumb living in america.... or atleast dumber ):

  • I have good news for you. You can still learn how to do this.

  • what... no way. really?

  • i feel incredibly stupid now... XD those children.. theyhad luck to born in Japan - me not :' (

  • OMG... making of robots

  • These children would be so much cuter if they weren't going to make me obsolete in 15 years.

  • bastards.... we have no chance... this isn't fair... damn the American board of education.

  • lol

  • this is incredible. there was an excerpt on this in one of the "Extraordinary People" episodes....

  • So if I would have been born there I would have been way smarter! argh STUPID AMERICAN SOCIETY!

  • Don,t say that I think that we simply need to try harder I don,t no perhaps we need to just get into a little bit more of there culture you no like methods I hope this cheered you up and you have all ready started.

  • WOW i feel stupid... :(

  • i live in the US and im korean. and i have a japanese teacher that really pro at and he taught me for a while. so im really good with this stuff. and the amazing stuff is that even 4 year olds can do like 6 grade math. my name is James and im 14.

  • i think they need to ban calculators and teach every kid this once they hit 1st grade =)

im going to 11th and i really wish we would've used this method back then, kids in high school rely to much on technology to save there lives, no one can even think for themselves anymore...how sad

  • That's a path to hapyneessssssss

  • we do have this in the us....

  • I wish we had this in the US!

  • The little kids make me feel stupid XD

  • Well don,t go beating your self up to bad about these things now.

  • lol...im suprised you replied to all of them o_O

  • I whole heartedly agree.

  • They need to bring this training to US schools

  • I agree with you your so rigth if our schools taugth us like how the asians do we be smarter if the united states was like asia things would be so much smarter because they get all smart there.NOT saying were stupid or anything but thats just a thougth.
