Gary, listening to guys like you helps me realize what I'm doing all of this for. It's just to relax. What is it with the Rialto's that seem to be one of the only organs that can sound just as great without reverb?
Today I watched a Rialto K go by, in my own town no less, on Ebay. It's separate Leslie 101Isomonic tone cabinet went for $103 last night. I sat there with the bid box open to the end not bidding. Then the organ ( both were white!) went on & I bid, but lost to a max bidder-sold $137
@paulj0557 Hi Paul; The best sound a Rialto-K has was when it was played through a Leslie 102 and 103 combination. I had one years ago that I highly customized. Rialto-K organs usually require a complete rebuild which means replacing all of the electrolytic capacitors. Reverb is difficult for organs that use Leslie tone cabinets. Microphones work best for that. Gary
I love this song, your arrangement is wonderful and heartfelt and just such a joy to listen to! Thank you so much for posting! Best wishes from Michael
;-) I smiles... you will have to play the intro .. beofre the wurlitzer FIRES at the 8min 50 mark (then sit back & think... THIS WAS A MONO - (until I got to it)
Ok... HAMMOND or WURLITZER ... you tell me what this is... It's OLS SCHOOLMONO ... orchesrtral instrumental dance type ORGAN music... principally lifted from my mums 78 rpm mono's... around 1959.. onto 3/8" reel to reel mono.. that I later remasterd... into this...
watch?v=Ywts6nM63yU ((AND)) go straight to the 8min mark... and play the wurlitzer... MY WAY.
I love this song so much, I have the 45 of Patti Page, but I've never heard it on the organ, it's so intense near the end, simply beautiful. Thanks a lot for posting!
@RialtoTwo Thank you Mike. I always enjoyed hearing Patti Page sing this tune and I also loved to play it for dancers. If Burt had not posted his ham radio QRP on Cape Cod Bay I would have never thought of this tune. I feel bad that so much music that I used to enjoy playing has drifted away from me. Gary
This is a very nice sounding Gulbranson organ! I have an old brochure of this organ, but I always wondered how good it sounded? You play very well! I love playing the organ as I have several organs, but my favorite is the Thomas organ!
@patsaxon The Rialto II is an interesting designed organ. Basically, the CBS engineers tried to duplicate the effect of the Leslie model 103 which was used on the Rialto K organs from the early 1960s. They didn't. I had a mdel K and I put two model 103 Leslies on it. The live sound was wonderful. The effect was a spatial shimmering sound that only the electro/mechanical design of a Leslie 103 could produce.
