  • Greatest song ever written

  • I am touched!

  • The man is a great songwriter. No one can dispute that.

  • Except the beautiful original, I also love John Belushi/ The Blues Brothers version although I can't find it on youtube anymore.

  • Nobody does it like Randy Newman.

  • What a geezer

  • @cclark775 thanks, looking forward to working on it some more!

  • I'm learning this on piano now, its great to play... the chords just make you melt . Some of the parts are pretty tricky to get down and he makes it sound so seamless. Its inspiring to see and hear him play it like this with no accompaniment.

  • It takes someone with Randy's cred to sing this. It has to be a solo ballad from the writer to get this impact. A group isn't the same when they plead forbearance. Then it's a cover - it could be a GOOD cover - but a cover.

  • Als ge niks anders kunt moiedu met uw gat uw ambiorix-schoenen ,

uw krasvrije auto en uw wapen dat moet blinken, nooit dienen.

Valse komediemens ,to-eelspeler ,stuk brute stront zonder publiek.

  • ray Charles and randy Newman remind me of one another listen to Georgia

  • I LOVE This Song !!!

This was SO ME, before i got sober a couple years ago...

I guess in all reality though, i'll always be guilty...

    Thank You Randy !!!

  • Sorry..... no one does it quite like NAZARETH....... Dan McCafferty is brilliant.... just brilliant!!!! No one comes even close..........

  • @nazfan43 go listen to them then buddy

  • Inspired lyrics!!! Sad when you can relate, it takes a lot of medicine...

  • sorry folks, tonight i'm f*** guilty

  • I came to this song via the excellent Joe Cocker version, on the album "I can stand a little rain" years ago but it's great to hear the original. Joe knew how to pick-em back then. On the same album was a great version of Jimmy Webb's "The moon is a harsh mistress". Both killer songs from two of the greatest songwriters around.

  • shit, I didn't know he wrote this cause I've only heard covers. I like him even more now. Thanks for posting all these.

  • @5150zombie you'd be surprised!! Randy's written tons of songs that aren't typically related to him. You know the song, "mamma told me not to come" by Three Dog Night? yeah, that was also Newman's

  • This is a great song inspires me when all have gone you still got one friend left

  • Randy's a great writer - Bonnie Raitt is a fabulous singer. Her recording of this song is one of my favorites.

  • I thought Bonny Raitt wrote this great song, u learn every day.

  • one of the best songs ever written ever

  • whole lotta cocaine and whiskey.... could use some right about now. thanx scofak...thanx Randy

  • this is the jam.. well/// kinda

  • Oh how I love this man. and his songs.

  • Oh how I love this song!!!

  • Make me cry!!!

  • I love this song, and I like also the Blues Brother version!

  • Never heard self-loathing so brilliantly captured in song.

  • I used to sing this to my wife, before she was my ex-wife. Real life in a song. Newman is the best ever.

  • Randy is classic, but Kamil Střihavka version is (for me) better :)

Write: Kamil Střihavka - Guilty :)

  • Great song by a very great singer/songwriter, thanks for this post.

  • I had no idea you and Obama were friends in 1979. And it was nice of him to give you that whisky.

  • Awesome performance of a brilliant song. Absolutely one of our greatest contemporary songwriters. If he wants to break your heart, he will, and if he wants to make you laugh, you will. And all points inbetween! Try to hear him do "I Think It's Going To Rain Today" live, it's mind-altering!

  • the best

  • Incredible songwriter, and actually, his performances have a life and character all their own, incomparable. Now who ELSE could have EVER come on Saturday Night Live singing, " I hate New York, it's cold and it's grey"? lmfaooooo The guy is a friggin genius!

  • Great song. Awesome performance. Added to Favorites :D

  • The greatest song that Randy ever wrote.

  • I'm sick of people saying that Randy Newman is'nt talented! Why are you watching the video then? I think he is good in what he does, and he earns respect. Youre awesome Randy!

  • This man is obviously a great talent and one hell of a song writer. whoever say's he isn't good doesn't know music.

  • wat the hell r u talkn bout..you got a friend in me, lousiana 1927 ,i love la ,i think its gonna rain today, tell me how they are the the same?

  • is it not a laugh when you make a living out of such songs.

"im so guiiilty!" - - well, as long as can can afford it, do not cry ) )

  • @MoveOverCasanova

i mean it is a laugh, but not it is ridiculous--, hey people,

there should be no discussion about one fact -

about the fact that RAN IS THE MAN ! ! !

  • i don't give a fuck what you said to me! Gummie bears rock my soul!!

  • it seems ....life is more complicated than you might think or feel...

It just brings on a nerd and when you listen carefully ,you just hear a pure gifted piano-talent!

    Bernard

  • Great! Randy is the number one!

  • I prefer the Blues Brothers. When John Belushi sang this it was like a suicide note, terrible and sad!

  • ditto

  • I agree! Belushi singing it was foreshadowing, but beautiful.

  • He did it with more heart

  • Oh get real. Belushi was a hanger on who couldn't do anything truly artistic. That's why he was a goofball comedian. He'd have ended up less popular than john belushi if he had lived.

  • Uhhh...John Belushi is the one that sang it on the Blues Bros album "Made in the USA". Are you referring to Jim Belushi as the "hanger on" and "goofball comedian"?

  • you know i really hate you, you pathetic dickhead

  • I love this song! Thank you Randy for bring it to the world.

I think the best cover so far I've heard was done by Bonnie Raitt. She really captures the essence of which it was writen.

  • Sorry, this is real song-writing. Nobody does it like Randy Newman.

  • Great song! One of his best, and that's saying a lot.

  • I was tired of seeing this song covered. Great to finally see Randy's own version!

  • @andreboogie check out my cover....i tried to keep it like the original

  • @andreboogie all of randy's songs are best done by the man himself. the phrasing the feel the heart. he's a genious who gets no credit.

  • @andreboogie You can't tell that this is a bad cover: /watch?v=1U5QjMXpyzs
