  • Hello, I've looked through your 5 videos and I don't see anything about the engine?

Is this a six cylinder? I know the 283 has a 3 inch stroke and you say 7 main bearings?

What is that strange ratcheting sound at the launch?

If the engine info is on a different video please direct me.

Terrific car, thanks for posting it.

  • @davvetop

That "ratcheting" noise is the engine winding up to the rev limiter and bouncing off it. Bas ass launch!.

  • @davvetop

"Is this a six cylinder?" I sincerely hope you're joking...

  • @davvetop I don't know who all the people are below with some weird comments. This is a 406 SBC backed by a Jerico DR4. The video is not 100% in time with the sound. The sound it the engine on the 2 step rev limiter. That was leaving the line at 6200 rpm.

  • That is one bad ass Nova. Stick cars rule

  • now thats the way drag racin should still be...bracket racin aint racin

  • it would have gone faster with wheeile bars. but whats the fun in that!

  • @ranger3931 - Fun? I would think that the safety and control that the extra traction of having both front wheels on the ground would supercede the fun of being in the air one second, and potentially smashed into the guard rail the next. But that's just me. :)

  • @tylersfs you must drive imports! sorry you do not understand.

  • @ranger3931 - u r right. But safety is MY #1 priority over everything else - I do understand that.

I do happen to drive an import - A 2002 Infiniti I35. I also drive a domestic - a 1966 Chevy C10 stepside; 292 6 cylinder engine, mild cam, Offy intake, Edelbrock 1403 4 bbl carb, stock 3.73 posi rear, New Process 3 speed + OD. Built the engine myself - pulls STRONG to 80 mph, where it cruises at 2600 rpms on the interstate.

    I understand it ALL.

  • @tylersfs sounds like a nice truck. i understand what your saying. you want to see some crazy wheel stands. check out byron wheel stands 2009. i like your truck because you didnt put a 350 or a big block in it.! bet it still pulls about as a 350 on the bottom end.

  • @ranger3931 Not a lot in the way of HP, but the aftermarket cam is an Elgin, with a little more duration than stock, but high lift like crazy - something like .565i/.580E. Makes torque like CRAZY to 4500 rpms. The 292 have a 4 1/8 inch stroke, 73 lb crank and 7 main bearings. Really ain't smart to try to pull that kind of mass at 8k-10k rpms!

But I can accelerate to 80 mph REALLY FAST thru the first 3 gears, before breaking it down to about 2550-2600 rpms in overdrive on 4th gear.

  • Probably would have been in the 10.1s or 10.2s with stronger wheelie bars...

  • thank you posting this! made this old man extremly happy what a beutiful thing to see someone masterfuly shifting

  • like the old stick cars as i ran one in the early 70`s ! my car was too heavy to pull the wheels ; a 64 marauder that ran 12.3 but not bad for tank .

  • loved it ! was that an inline or old school ? SUPERSHIFTERS

  • SiCk! WOA! Wham-Bam thank you man!

  • sick nova

  • Sweet as it gets man awesome

  • Damn...! Nice run..!

  • Nice!!! Gotta love a stick car yanking the wheels and going clutchless down the track!
