if u think this boat is smoking, ive seen a hire boat actualy dissapear into a cloud of its on black smoke, all boats running on red diesel smoke as the smoke is just the red die burning off in the engines, running on normal diesel or petrol creates verylittle smoke but is more expensive
me and a few of my mates hired out a boat on the broads from horning "pleasure" crafts a few years ago and in 7 days it was broken for 3 of those days. we broke down over breydon waters and had to be rescued by the river police. we got 250 quid back off them though. my advice is don't go at end of season as you get the ones that have been ragged for months. excellent holiday anyway, the broads are really good fun
Also, the Broads Tours day boats are terrible. NEVER hire one out. They break down constantly - sometimes more than 3 a day break down. They've got their own tug - Buster. Now THAT was a boat that used to smoke. I mean SMOKE! I work at one of the boatyards in Wroxham - im a marine diesel engineer. Norfolk is a lovely place.
If it was a richardsons boat, im not surprised! Most of the boats on the broads smoke abit, especially if you give it a hard blast. Even the newer ones. You'll find the private ones smoke even more because they're not regually serviced [fuel filters, coolant, oil, oil filters] and so forth. It's not completely bad, but it's not something you particually want.
