Or force your freaking vehicle in reverse, I'd rather damage the trans than end up with tickets and lawsuits from hitting other people. A trans is fixable. That's what I did last year. Was sliding down the hill, jammed my truck in reverse and my trans is just fine. ;) Avoided hitting the car at the bottom of the hill.

@jagenrock5 exactly thats where the system is messed up because if you cant tell and the city doesnt do its job to make the roads safer, and you have an accident in the snow and ice, they blame you because you arent being careful enough. if you slide 3 blocks on ice and hit someone, the police will write you a ticket for "following too close" and send you on your way after getting your information. then they will say you should be more careful or the funnier saying "shouldnt follow too closely"

tards + car + bad weather = entertainment, we have had a winter in the UK for the second year running, snow ice freezing for days on end, usually the only difference between the summer and winter in the UK is that the rain is colder. We have had heavy snow for the last 7 days, and the motorways have been terrible, most ppl have been sensible, but there are the few dicks, like to one I saw the other morning, who was doing 70 MPH down the outside lane which had 3" of snow on it.

@titan56l How do you know that, the white GM opel near the end most certainly did have ABS. And ABS stops working under 5 mph and in some cases is a hinderance above 5mph on ice and snow, locking up your wheels in deep snow is actually better than ABS because the build up of snow in front of the tyre acts as a brake. ABS is not a perfect and does not prevent a car loosing control.

@Azureecosse All the devices and features on a car have a purpose and a limit. ABS, Traction control (limited slip), Stability control. ABS does not stop your car better it stop it gives you more control while stopping. dont plan on ABS stopping you on ice at 75 mph. Limited slip does not let one wheel spin faster then the other. Do not plan on it getting you up a slick hill. And stabilty control applys each brake individually to resist opposite pull. you have 0 traction on ice, how can it brake

If you want to learn how to handle a car properly, you go to a driving school, and pay more than $10, for some proper training, which most don't get.

@bored1980 Spinning your wheel in opposite direction is not the optimal way.. The best way is to put the car in neutral and just try to stear you way out of it.. If you are in a steep hill try to break but DONT LOCK YOUR WHEELS!.. If you notice that the speed is increasing downhill try to drive off the road out in the grass or up on the pavement where its maybe better grip.. or aim for a car ;)

ABS would defiantly help. But there comes a point at witch ABS just cant cope. Like freezing rain @ 1:00 I have seen cars with ABS standing still and they start to slide down hills and the ABS is simply overwhelmed. To work properly ABS needs to know that the car is moving it dose this by detecting the movement of the Wheels. But if the system thinks its standing still and the car starts to move but the wheels stay stationery it wont work and your screwed.
