Speaking of Gary Player, the story goes that one time he called Mr. Hogan at his office in Fort Worth and asked him for some swing advice. Ben asked him if he was playing Ben Hogan clubs. Gary said, "No, Dunlop."
feet have nothing to do with draw or fade.. he closes his stance with the longer clubs to get more hip turn... shoulders a square to the target at address ...
Mmm...no. Tiger's not done yet. He still misses on both sides of the fairway. Great irons, for sure, but most people do not envy his game off the tee.
Ben Hogan, on the other hand, was rock-solid all the way through the bag. Check his match against Sam Snead on Shell's Wonderful World of Golf to see what he was capable of. Ben hit 14 of 14 fairways and 18 of 18 greens at Houston Country Club that day, which measured about 7,000 yards at the time. Ben was in his mid-50s then, even.
@Goynes42 Yes I agree, while Tiger's the best modern player and bound to be the best, his driver game is comparatively bad to the rest of his game (I mean at his good times even, right now is just all over the place haha). Like you said, the only thing I envy about Tiger's wood game is how far he can hit his driver and his fairway woods skill (he normally hits those well, while I don't LOL).
@Gyro911 Simple but accurate way to put it. His driver swing mostly depends on timing since it's evolved over the years and has been on more planes than an airline traveler. With all the other clubs, when he's playing fairly well at least, his swing is usually good; obviously his irons are deadly at this time and leads to great scrambling. Besides his athleticism (which leads to good timing usually), his mental toughness, at his best, is probably up there with those of the best players ever.
@Gyro911 Your comment is gone but I mostly agree. Only think is that he has control problems with the driver, but that's likely due to technology changes where he's using a shaft 1.5" longer and 40 grams lighter than before that creates problems. In the FWs he uses shafts only 15-20 grams lighter in the Diamana BB 103X. Everything else he has great control with, and he does focus on scrambling more. I hope he gets his focus back soon, then he can continue his path to being the greatest player.
@MAlatinboy Yeah your right and you sure no every fact i see so im not going to argue that. I think the other thing that hurt is his weight training habits. He's become to upper body dependent which is bad for the long game but great for the short one which explains why he's an accurate scrambler from 150 yds in despite the lie. I have the same issue since i do weight training and i find it unfortable to rely on my hips and legs rather then my small muscles (shoulders, forarms, hands)
@Gyro911 A lot of Golf Channel and magazines, that's why haha. That's a good point to bring up, when he was lanky and had polos 2 sizes bigger than him, he was better with the driver (also a different swing then) and still really good at everything else. He can hit his irons so far and controlled because he's much stronger and can swing within himself now. I don't weight train heavily but I still have a problem using my lower body well (need to work out), so my short game is my thing too.

Ben said, "Well then, call Mr. Dunlop."

looks like a fade, his feet are lined up to the right. hard to see the ball fade back, though.

Aiming right right or closing your stance produces a draw. Ling up left of target or opening your stance produces a fade.

Anything of Hogan is a delight to watch, but more so in this clip given that we get to see the ball flight down the line.

@MAlatinboy Tiger is a grat scrambler with an average swing. He completely depends on his athleticism and metal toughness
