@staphinfection That's what they do when they're frustrated. Either that, or growl. See how they're dancing around trying to get in the water but not quite doing it? They're hesitant so they're whining to show that it's frustrating them. If you couldn't talk to communicate, you'd make a fucking racket too.

@LaurenRoxU about the food that's so true.. mine is not unfriendly at all, actually she's friendlier to humans than to dogs.. she'll just bark when she cant see the people but once they get in she wags her tail..

So typical dachshund behavior/vocalizing! Where we live, waterfront in FL, my 3yr old doxie does this w/ not frogs but blue crab! Thats something I dont really want him to succeed in catching. :o

if someone could message me i have a 3 year old daschund whos a little on the heavy side also, he's rather unfriendly to new people so if you have any solutions theyd all help

the weight problem is easy to solve: higher quality food in the right amounts and more "sports" (walking, playing etc.)

Does he bite or just bark at new people? Everywhere or just when the new people come into your home? Different situations have to be treated seperatly.

Just talk to a vet, but whatever happens don't give up on the dog because theres no such thing as a bad dog so always hold onto it and spoil it k.

@rakdos1235 You proooobably wrote this a long time ago. Dachshunds are notorious for eating until they will make themselves SICK. It doesn't matter if you give them a bag of dog food or a half cup. Once mine got into a bag of dog food and nearly ate half the bag before we got home. And it was a huge bag. Made him so sick. And if he's unfriendly to strangers he's either uncomfortable around them or being protective of you. If you still want more advice, you can message me :)

smart frog smart doxies too .but one of my 4 doxies would have had a FROG IN ITS THROAT! they don't give up that easy.i had a big water rat swimming in the pool but not for long!!! they would bark at first then they would just wait quietly at all differant sides of the pool until it swims to one of them. doxies are very smart hunters one of them would drive the prey to one of the other doxies for a quick kill
