Well, that was entirely wrong and naive. If the other tribes develop weapons and learn to defend themselves, the paradigm of the violent tribe (not to mention the tribe itself, which is far more important) is contained. Being able to defend oneself does NOT imply that one will become the aggressor, killing and enslaving those around you.
It's not "wrong and naive"; it's moralistic and ungrounded. The fact, that RP can only relate to this possibility as the "Paradigm of the Violent Tribe", shows that after all this time, he's still an urban intellectual TRAPPED in his head. I wonder if he even owns any weapons?
In point of fact, few tribes that had to learn defensive skills resisted the temptation to become marauders themselves. Among the Amerinds, Hopis were on of the rare tribes whose warriors weren't raiders.
@Nimadan I dont understand why you criticise RP in your first paragraph when in fact in your second one you seem to say he is right. Do you think that the spread of violence can be stopped without the use of violence? There must have been some example in history, but does that generally work that way? If a tribe has many weapons, even without attacking they can threaten neighbours and drain their resources or economies, forcing peaceful tribes to die or attack the bullies.
Ran is awesome, he looks like Keanu Reeves.
