Getting closer to God is to obey his commands (Salaah, Zakat, Good Manners, Good hygiene etc. etc. )and obey and follow his messenger.

Would God or his messenger approve of such act? (singing and using such instrument to call out to God?)

I don't remember reading in the Quran about Sufi's, Sunni's, Shia's etc. because these were man made. We are ALL just Muslims and nothing else.

And i love a lot of its aspects like the beauty of Urdu and Sufi music, dances and dresses. i just don't like any one when they try to impose by force, regardless of which religion they are. That even you would agree. To be artistic is to actually accept diversity and culture of varieties. Hope I dint offend you and if I did, I'm sorry. Anyways... peace.

Sufism is part of Pakistan's culture. Its been part of our culture for hundreds of years. The Sunnis and Shias of Pakistan are also influenced by Sufi poetry and music, but some hardliners and extremists in our country dont agree with our Sufi culture that we've been following for hundreds of years, but Sufism will always stay in Pakistan.

The holy book of Allah can be interpreted in many ways. Different Muslims have different interpretation of Islam.

Muslims are fighting each other since Death of Prophet (P.B.U.H), we need to understand each other.

Suinni means habits, practices and implementation of Islam by the Prophet and is mentioned in the Quran...and allah ordered the muslims to obey Muhamed pbuh. and we named ourselves Sunnis to distinguishe it from the branches that was created not long ago, eccept Shia was created after the death of Hussain by a hypocrit jews disguised as muslim and spread his crap in Iran and secceded.

Muhamed did not and never apointed any body for khilafa shortly before he dies. and because Abu back was the more knoledgeble in Islam and the closest companion, he apointed himself and noone disagree.
