so we took an old 8 horse briggs and threw a corb off an old 650 four cyl motorcyle. that thing pulled our 3/4 ton van around like nothing. we then threw a rod.... sad sad sad day
@ibikesoarrestme i bet you that "turbo" doesn't do shit. it would take around a grand to properly configure a turbo to properly work with a small engine. And yes, small engines can blow rods and flywheels, and if a flywheel lets go, it can destroy the whole mower AND you in the process. when you're laying in a hospital bed with a chunk of your skull removed...you wont be saying "its just a fucking lawnmower" anymore.
@JacknifeCreations oh my god.. ur a fucking idiot. first off, they dont have a high enough compression to throw a rod, and the only way for a flywheel to come off and do that kinda damage is if the crank shaft breaks at the top. otherwise that shit aint goin nowhere, its certianly no gonna break apart due to high rpm, as that heavy piece of steel is comfy at 300rpm. which is damn high for a lawn tractor. and last but not least, my mower has an rx7 turbo, one turbo pulling two exhaust pipes.
@ibikesoarrestme think....the connecting rod in a small engine is designed to operate at a maximum of 3600RPM. when you overrev the engine like the dumbass in this video is doing, its is highly likely that the connecting rod can break, and with those kinds of RPMs, turn into a bullet. as far as flywheels go, look at this, you're wrong (remove the spaces): gardentractorpullingtips.c o m/flywheelbreakage/flybreak.htm also, you said you had a tractor with a turbo'd 16 HP Kohler, not an RX8 engine.
@JacknifeCreations okiedokie, read what i wrote. an rx 7 turbo. the turbo from an rx7. not the engine, the turbo. the engine is a 16hp kohler. which is why i said "my mower has an rx7 turbo, one turbo pulling two exhaust pipes" which would mean i have one turbo on a two cylinder engine... ur a dumb fuck haha
@ibikesoarrestme I like how you don't even acknowledge the fact that I've won this argument, and instead pick on a simple typo. Plus, an RX7 Turbo is much too big for a 16HP V-Twin or opposed twin. I should know, because I've tried the same with my 20HP Kohler V-Twin on my racing mower. It wont spool up properly, and will have loads of turbo lag, actually taking power AWAY from the engine. Try getting a smaller turbo from a small diesel engine. Who's the "dumb fuck" now?
@JacknifeCreations actually it does spool up quite nicely. its from an rx7. thats a very small, 54mm turbo. the smallest diesel turbo that ur gonna find, is gonna be like 75mm. not to mention that a diesel turbo isnt built for performance. dont know if u know, but a turbo will not spool up if u rev the engine, a turbo needs a load to spool. hence why they spool under load. listen kiddo, i race my tractor, top speed is 93mph, with a race setup. which is short track racing. :)
@ibikesoarrestme A turbo needs a load to spool? what kind of stupid logic is that? Are you saying that engines don't give out a pressurized exhaust flow unless the engine is under load? explain how a turbocharged vehicle can spool up the turbo just by revving the engine in neutral then. and yes, there is small diesel engines with small turbos, commonly used on generators and wood chippers. and you can't say that they aren't built for performance, because a turbo IS a performance upgrade.
@ibikesoarrestme Also, 54mm is quite large even for a twin, which is around 600CCs. You would need around a 28-40mm turbo, which is what a lot of small turbo diesels use. also "Kiddo", you say you have a mower that has a 16HP turbo Kohler twin, and it goes "93". what kind of racing association allows turbos? Definitely not USLMRA or AMRA. also, I see no videos or pictures on your channel that proves you have what you say, so you could basically be blowing smoke out your ass.
@JacknifeCreations my god man, the turbo spools due to the manifold, blow off valve, and waste gate. all those factors come into effect when utilizing a turbo, that kohler could spin a huge turbo if done right. and what kind of racing association?? its called run what u brung night. they let u race ANYTHING. and yeah, i usually come out on top. and u want a video? i will go make one later sir, and upload it just for you!!!
@ibikesoarrestme and yes, i made a custom manifold, and yes it works properly, and no it didnt cost a grand, and it pushes 7lbs of boost. and yes i do race that tractor, at a drag strip.
We have put lterally 6 transmissions in that same tractor. We had changing them down to a science! we could change a wole transmission in about 15min!

not too long till you throw a rod or flywheel...

@JacknifeCreations a rod? or a flywheel? really? its a fucking lawn mower... i have a turbo on my 83 simplicity 4211, with a 16 horse kohler in it.

Have fun with those wheelies while it lasts, I had a craftsman riding mower that could pull wheelies, until the tranny stripped all its gears.

Ya it is a wana-be straight pipe. The tractor also has a tilotson carb on 10% Nitro and (90% methanol
