  • She's gonna be in Detroit Sunday, March 8th @ The Palace of Auburn Hills with Fleetwood Mac.. Try to make it

  • Stevie, you will always be the poet in my heart.

    Great song and singer!

  • Actually I dont think Beautiful child was ever rumored to have been about Stevies baby. It is the song The Tower or Goodbye Baby as it is now called, that was rumored to have been about Stevies unborn baby. As the song goes..."Dont take me to the tower or take my child away....etc.

  • no the song about the child, was supposed to have been Beautiful Child, not Sara.. although I think that that was just a rumour.. I think Sara ... is either about Sara Fleetwood or herself .. Who knows x

  • I'm an old dog -- 44 -- and I've been loving this song since 1979 when I was 15. I've never really known exactly what it was about -- so that's a good question. I will ask Stevie if I ever get the honor of meeting the woman.

    God bless.

    D

  • Sara is her alter ego part of herself.

  • But in response to my last comment, maybe I am wrong about the song 'Sara'. It remains a mystery...Great song!

  • Great version of this song her voice is great here!

  • amazing artist..Love stevie

  • I cannot wait until this is released on DVD next month.

  • ourbovinepublicxx - Absolutely bang on! Damn straight!

  • Does anyone know who this song is about?

  • from inherownwords com

    STEVIE:

"Sara [is my most personal song] It's about myself, and what all of us in Fleetwood Mac were going through at the time. The true version of that song is 16 minutes long. It's a saga with many verses people haven't heard."

~Stevie Nicks, Us magazine, July 1990

[On who Sara is] "Probably my alter ego, my other self."

    ~Stevie Nicks, Montreal Interview

  • Years ago, I thought I heard on American Top 40 that this is a personal love song about a child that was conceived, but never was born. I'm being respectful and discreet here...but it's about the loss of a baby. PLEASE...NO DISRESPECTFUL AND NASTY REPLIES BY ANYONE! Show some respect...this song is more special than many know...it's a memorial. Keep it tasteful. This is not to you Pat, just to others who may want to be not so nice...

  • @unwoundreamr herself, straight from the mouth of the babe.

  • @unwoundreamr herself, straight from the mouth of the babe.

  • @unwoundreamr - thanks; actually I always thought it was about the child she lost.

  • Thank you 4 posting this. It is an absolute bitter sweet favorite and it is very rare to catch her preforming it. And it has to be one of the best version of it recorded.

  • Right on.

  • I love this song and it was such an amazing performance and show!

  • This is one of my favourite ever songs, it's quite possibly the most beautiful song ever written. How many artists do you know that sounds as good now (if not better) than they did 30 years ago? The number's very slim. So stop having a go at her, and just listen to her sing this gorgeous song. It perfectly shows off why she is probably the greatest woman in rock music, now and back then.

  • FYI Everyone Fleetwood Mac is touring next year playnig 40 Shows they start rehearing in January. A new CD to Follow in the summer of 2009. This comes from Buckingham in a New York news paper today 10/16/08

  • Thanks for the info; have you heard anything about Sheryl Crow replacing Christine?

  • Sheryl Crow will NOT be with FLEETWOOD MAC in 2009 I found out for sure! DJ DEB 11/08

  • thank god

  • Double thank God :D

  • It doesn't get better than this! This lady has aged with grace and is still so very lovely.

  • I am Speechless! Once in a Million years a lady like her rises and Stevie that is you! Thank you for your music that touches the heart and soul of millions... Peace from New York City

  • Wish they would put this version on cd... This beautiful song stood the test of time and still gives me goose bumps like the day when this 1st came out!

  • Me too. I've played this video a million times because I love this version. Stevie totally owned on this one...as always:o)

  • oh i agree with you...

  • I like Stevie. She has this goodness about her. I know she used to do drugs (before I was born, lol) I don't know what she believes about everything and all, but she seems to have something innately wholesome about her.

Stevie's voice also isn't "pretty" in the typical sense of a soprano with little vribato (celtic womany) but it's beautiful. It's gritty and suited for rock.

    Thanks for posting this vid!

  • i believe that her voice range( is that how u call it, i'm not sure) is contralto.i think her voice makes love to her lyrics( know what i mean?). In all honesty, shes given me a whole lot of advice just by watching some of her interviews! so i really get the innately wholesome remark. she delivers it as absolute truth!

  • Simply amazing and magical!

  • Thank you Joe Thomas for that guilt letter you wrote Stevie. This is one Beautiful song! And you are right it needed to be recorded! I am very grateful for PBS and all the concerts you put on! I appreciate you!Look at the lights, the sound, the crowd, the flowers, pictures the "great dark wing" it is Mic Fleetwood. She had an affair with him while he was married. They both were in the wrong there! Marriage should be sacred. If Stevie wanted a fling with me and I was married I'd fall of course.LOL,djDEB

  • What a beautiful voice and beautiful lady! This absolutey shows that Stevie Nicks is a timeless wonder who gets better and better. My friends you have got to see her live, she is incredible, traveling with her band or Fleetwood Mac. Her concerts are wonderful!!!

  • That someone could believe this is not a live recording is beyond understanding. It so obviously is. Editing flaws are typical in this sort of recording. Besides, everyone who knows what they're talkinga bout knows that Stevie Nicks is NOT the kind of artist who lipsynchs. She'd rather not perform than be this dishonest. She's a genuine artist in every sense of the word. Yes, her voice has deepened with age - and so has mine, and so has yours I'm sure. It's a natural process.

  • @Cicilo1983 absolutely no lip-synching

  • Oh and thanks to the producer/ director Joe for the Letter to Stevie on "Sara"!!!!

  • Thank you Stevie for singing this angelic song of "Sara"....especially when you lead into "you give me light but you never told me about the fire!!!..and undoing the laces" WOW!!! - a long time fan

    Stevie's the best!!!

  • Stevie's hair looks beautiful!

  • amazing beauteful no words

  • Stevie, babe you need to do this beautiful song at ALL your concerts!!

  • omg Stevie is as Magic as it gets and i luv Tina as well

  • just so eveyone understands... i'm not trying to over-analyse stevie's voice...its just that Michele1j's comments PISSED ME OFF!!!! THey're all in response to her stupidity

  • stevies voice has changed a little, but who really gives a crap? Her voice was amazing way back when and is still unique and amazing today. A good example is joni mitchell. Joni used to sing high notes when she was younger. When you hear her now, she sings alot deeper, but that makes her no less amazing! Everyone just need to appreciate these legends. Who would you rather hear, Brittany???

  • AMEN!!!!

  • You are watching a LEGEND!!! AND you can't help to LOVE HER AND HER MUSIC>deb8/2008

  • And its not a matter of 'Fear.' If you ask me, Stevie is pretty fearLESS. Its about what her instrument is capable of. Her voice has gone from her head, down into her chest, and she's not going to risk damaging it further by singing high notes. It has nothing to do with fear. Other singers would retire or quit singing if their voices reached the point hers has. SHE is choosing to continue to sing for her fans, & do whatever it takes to repair & strenghthen her voice. Thats pretty FEARLESS

  • Michele1j- i've studied her voice... dont 'honey' me. I'm a musician. I know her high notes, and I know songs she can no longer sing like "Talk To Me" She couldn't even perform "Trouble In Shangri-La" during the tour because it was too high. SARA is not too high for her. So do YOUR research

  • I suggest you listen VERY varefully to the song "Illume" on the Say You Will album of 2004. Stevie sing the Quite high harmony vocals with her lower voice on melody. BEAUTIFUL SONG. Also, her Falsetto is quite high as well in the song "Sorceror" from T.I.S.L.

  • you're refferring to "In my misery yeah yeah' The Yeah Yeah is an A above middle c.. check it for yourself... it just sounds higher because its her falsetto. Also, Illume, its the same A, just in her belting voice ;-). Both AMAZING songs, and i LOVE THEM!!!

  • ...her falsetto on 'yeah yeah' sounds higher because its resonating in her head, where as if she were to belt the A (like she does at the end of Rhiannon on "TRY HARRRD you can't leave her) it resonates in her mouth and the back of her throat (giving her voice the brassy quality it has developed over the past 10 years...) That 'TRY HARRRD' at the end of the 2003-05 Rhiannons, is the same note as the " misery YEAH YEAH" Theyre A's.The 'IM ALONE NOW" in Illume is actually a G, (whole step lower)

  • Yes, Illume was written about 911.She was at the Waldorf hotel when the planes hit in New York. God bless Stevie Nicks! I am a musician too. Play guitar! Rock on! Deb 8/2008 Stevie is the poet in my heart and she will always matter to me. Deb

  • She's a friend of my cousin, I've met her several times, and besides, I had to use something to shut up Michele1.

  • saying you know Stevie is dangerous! I wouldn't be surprised if you get a flood of e-mails with 'messages for Ms. Nicks' ;)

    Meanwhile, here's mine.

    Dear Stevie....

  • LEGEND..

  • Oh Stevie we love you and thank you for your music..... You touch the heart of Millions and that says it all! Peace from New York City

  • Actually, Michele1j, you're wrong. Her higest chest-voice note (Post Trouble In Shangri-La) is an A above Middle C, which totally gives her the range to sing this song. Her highest song is Edge Of Seventeen with a Bflat at the end at the "I KNOW what it sounds like" part. "Dreams" is Fleetwood Mac's most successful single, and Rhiannon and Gold Dust Woman are also synonymous to the Fleetwood Mac name- So I dont know what you're talking about.

  • Michele1- If you aren't a Stevie fan, fine whatever. But I don't understand why you have to bash her continuously over and over again. Do you think you're ruining it for the rest of us?? To answer that no, the rest of us love Stevie and won't stop loving her cuz someone like you thinks she stinks.

  • Genial...!!!!

  • Oh. Nevermind. I watched it again and she explains in the beginning that she considers it a signature FM song.

  • Does anyone know why Stevie doesn't do this song live anymore? I know about the whole drama she had a long time ago with that lunatic that tried to sue her for stealing/plagiarizing "Sara", and the case was dropped because (obviously) the woman was lying. But is that the reason why she doesn't sing Sara live?

  • i think i read before that this is a very special song about a good friend who passed. very hard for her to sing.

  • To not like Stevie is a crime..what did she do to you..umm...besides open the door for all the female musicians now.

  • wow, good one, you're obviously some sort of litterary genius.

  • yeah we get it, you're a nasty bitch who doesn't like Stevie Nicks- shut up already!

  • and the wind became...crazy. Stevie fans are happy anytime she sings a classic. Sara is her song, written by her, and she can sing it any damn time she wants to. As always...

    Stevie is Timeless

  • i bet shes so much hotter than you...and your like a plain looking girl(im right huh) take this personally so you attack her, your so transparent sister

  • Simply perfection..... Stevie is flawless...

  • No, Michele1j.. Dreams, Rhiannon and Gold Dust Woman aren't FM signature songs. They may have started as FM songs, but she's performed them consistently in her solo career.. unlike Sara, which disappeared and didn't really reappear for many years until the Say You Will FM tour..in which she sang it as beautifully as she does here. She seems to hit the notes just fine here.. So stfu, you negative ledgie.

  • Saw her live twice--at the Greek and the House of Blues. Amazing. Her voice gives me chills.

  • huh?

  • it's totally live!

  • yeah man its totally live. People also thought she was lipsynching on the Say You Will DVD but what they didn't realize was that they always do TWO recordings, and they kinda edit them together, so if you see her mouth not TOTALLY moving in synch with the vocals, it means the video at that particular moment, is probably from the OTHER recording. They sorta take the best from both recordings and edit them together.

  • Yes,Stevie is the one!Singer songwriter, poet, lover of life and people. What would the world of been without her? Can you imagine?Great perception!deb 8.2008

  • Excellent.

  • too cool Keep Em coming. Thanks
