Thanks for uploading and sharing your video & information onto us newbies out there. I just bought a Glock 17, 3rd Gen and cannot wait to take it out to the range to practice, practice, practice.
I'm also considering another handgun but not too sure what to get. As I'm in Canada and we have some radical laws related to handgun ownership, I would only be using said guns at the range. Any suggestions on what a new handgun owner should get as a secondary range-only handgun? Thanks in advance.
@PhantomGhost007 Serious question? Glocks come in many calibers . Most center-fire pistol rounds could travel a half mile easy if you got the right arc. Practical accuracy is limited to about 25 meters for most folks. The muzzle velocity (speed coming out of the barrel) varies from caliber to caliber, the barrel length of the gun and the type of round you are shooting. For a 9mm Glock the MV is over 400m/s. Most people think "power" is some combination of bullet weight and muzzle velocity.
Thank you for this video. I was in the USMC as an observer with an SS platoon and now I need to become familiar with the 9mm glock fro my federal police training. Thanks to your great video I wont look like a boot now when I go to the range and I can now actually speak intelligently about the weapon. Keep up the good work.
There are two ways around that. 1) When loading the gun don't use it... pull the slide back and let the slide go forward on its on. I talk about it in this one look at watch my pistol drill video to see it more 2) You can get a larger slide release lever and instal it (or have a gunsmith do it as it requires a good bit more than basic disassembly) - bout a ten minute job though and most places that sell Glocks will do it.
I load one round less for three reasons 1) it reduces spring tension 2) it makes it easier to seat the magazine with the slide forward and 3) it is a bitch to get the last round in. I probably won't be doing a ammo video as that just isn't a subject I couldn't explain well enough in ten minutes. If you have any questions PM me.
@TheTNPer- Get off my nutsack you fuckin moron...I wasnt talking shit about the vid I was reading the comments and seeing how many assholes love to think they are the shit when it comes to guns.
my boy got a brand new glock 40 cal and the safety is external on the back of the pistol. nice feature, its on the back of the handle where ur palm is.
letting go of the slide sharply like that (3:51) is terrible for your slide spring. guide it back lightly - let the spring do the work. speaking of the spring, it sounds like you haven't lubed that in a while.
i'm a big glock fan, the g17 is my favorite. great video man!
The slide drops like that during the normal operation of the firearm (any semi auto firearm.) Easing the slide forward is a good way to get various out of battery issues. Not so much with the Glock but other guns (especially when dirty) and is a bad habit to have.
Yes it does however when you have a loaded mag in it that actually helps slow/lessen the impact of the slide. Releasing the slide like that while empty is not a good thing to do.
Yes, I like loading one less than capacity. Not only is the last round a PITA, I feel that it increases reliability and magazine life. It also makes it easier to lock the magazine in on a closed chamber.
Was the model 21 replaced with another version of a full sized .45? It seems like the model 21, which I have, isn't as popular as other models, which is odd because I would assume a full sized .45 would be the most popular of all.
Thanks for what I believe to be the best introduction to the Glock on youtube. I am waiting on My Glock 17a (Australian model) to arrive and found this very informative Cheers Mate
Nice vid just thought I would tell you I saw some new laser rights that are supposed ot be coming out replace your rear sights with new ones that have a laser on the right side. They look interesting just thought I would mention it if you want to check them out.
I'm a fan of OD guns in general. If you watch my other videos you will see that all of my competitive/ defensive guns are two tone. This has two advantages, I think two tone is an effective cammo without going to a can of krylon, and I can recognize them quickly at the range. Of course when someone else shows up with a two tone gun I get confused!
No clue without knowing more. What is the nature of the jam? Is it a new gun ammo etc? I have probably seen a million rounds fired through various Glocks and have probably seen less than 10 jams.
It's not a problem at all. Modern centerfire guns should not have any problem dry firing. And, when you are beginning, you should dry fire hundreds of times. I think it might be a problem, and I don't do it with rimfires.
Im no glock expert im just asking a question cause it sounded odd... I do own a BRAND spanking new Never shot before Glock 17..but anyway
At 1:49 when you released the slide why did it make a sorta squeeky screeching noise.. like as if the metal was un lubricated... is that because that certain glock is old or is that just what happens in time anyway?
Why would I do it? To simulate a malfunction while shooting drills. Why not to do it? Because the casing has expanded while firing and jammed in really badly. Lesson learned on my part.
Glad you liked it. In the 1911 vs Glock choice. I gota push for the Glock. I love 1911s, truly do. But if you're only going to have to one or two pistols the out of the box reliability of a Glock (and a couple of other modern autos) wins every time.

How powerful is the Glock Auto-pistol??, and how far can the bullet's fire?? - like more than 100m/per sec??

@excurrahee Yeah, it is. Oh okay, fine! - that's pretty good for a 9mm Glock to fire at over a distance range of 400m/per sec

Letting the slide go back sharply is the correct way. Any other way is just wrong. Any combat shooter knows that. Stick to your rap videos.

Great point on how you said people like to ride the slide forward which is completely improper, a bad habit and potentially dangerous. Great video.

great video mate,im getting the glock 34 in 9mm do you have to lubricate the actions or are they to run dry?
cammo1986 2 years ago
I lube the channel where the slide mates with the receiver and the barrel. I typically use CLP or Mobile one synthetic motor oil.

the two worst things you can do to a Glock is 1)over oil it, 2) limp wrist, both will can cause jams.
