I have the Classic Army one and I'm not sure if it's just me but it is garbage. It broke the same day of using it and I never even got to take it outside of the house. Even my cheaper plastic Airsoft guns don't break as easily.
i bought and put the sliding gsg stock on my gsg, and i really didn't like it. i put the factory stock back on my rifle! the gsg sliding stock was very unstable and made you feel like you were all the way up on the rear site even with it slide all the way out. ebay has an advanced folding stock that im gunna look into! i did whoever put a tri-rail picattany forearm on mine and absolutely love it! would highly recommend it!
@clayislegit.....i have the b&t folding stock, i love it. is sturdy and doesnt wobble at all!!! i want the classic army retractable stock but i dont know if it wobbles
whod a thought an airsoft stock would be better than a rifle stock, i woulda thought the stock on the top was the gsg not the classic army, id just switch the rails
I bought the straight butted official gsg collapsible stock with the 2 screw holes on the inside of the butt, but it doesnt have the cutout, and it doesnt reach the end of the inside rail when installed on my gsg-5 p
@prepper1987 but then you have to buy one of each..its a goddamned .22,an expensive one at that, with all the bells and whistles on the gsg you are looking at almost 1000 bucks. so...im gonna go with classic army one.
Great review!!! I have a GSG-5 SD and just purchased a GSG-5 collapsible stock for $54.95 (no s/h) online.
I have a few more comments to add to your review regarding the GSG-5 collapsible stock. I noticed after attaching/collapsing and retracting the stock on the GSG-5 that it leaves noticeable scratches within the GSG-5 rail grooves on the firearm.
Also, when retracting the stock I noticed that it litterally pulls right off, but is easily re-inserted. Again, great review!
My GSG collapsible stock died this weekend. The nubs on the "wheel" just wore down to the point where it wouldn't hold. Very annoying design flaw. I'll try a CA next, I might get the folder.
The CA endcap is a much better design than the GSG version. It is made of potmetal, but at least it's not plastic--the locking studs will not wear down.
no i dont think its happened to anyone just morons talking!! theres ppl always saying this isnt hollywood or the movies why slam load the charging bolt like that it will wear down or break blaw blaw blaw. i personally think its made for fast combat loading just lock it up stick in the mag and ur ready to rock!
dude i tried the classic army retractable stock on my new sd nickel version rifle and i guess the guide rails all not as thin as the older plain models and the left rail pin scapped the paint :( doesnt look noticable but i hate scratches!! its looks like a straight pen mark like 2" long so i'm rollin with the ump folding stock! have u ever heard of the charging bolt breaking while loading??
I don't have any experience with the nickel painted SD, but I think your problem is typical with the paint issues on all of the GSG-5 models. The UMP stock is pretty sweet, I liked the PDW-style stock for my PK SBR. I have never heard of the charging handle breaking while cocking the weapon--did this happen to you?
great vid, unfortunately, i traded in my gsg5 and got a 10/22 with tapco stock and all sorts of other goodies for it, gsg5 was fun as hell but the mp5 look was all it had going for me, wasnt too much i could do other than rails and full stock/retractable stock.
well after having shot both now, the gsg5 seems to be about as accurate in my opinion, and has been just as a reliable as a 10/22 so far, but the customization is what got me hooked.
I like the MG42 kit for the 10/22, just drop in the barrel, bolt and trigger assembly and it looks like you have Hitler's Zipper in your range bag! LOL They also make an MP5 kit for the 10/22, but the ejection port is in the stock. Weird, but cool.
I had a GSG-5 collasable stock first. as I was installing it, the end cup cracked. so I ended up returning it. now I have the Classic Army stock, the end cup is metal beter than plastic GGS-5 stock.
Hey bud, I have an airsoft version identical to the gsg collapsible stock, anyway I was wondering if it is worth getting the classic army just for the endcap, is it any better? A short vid showing the combination would be greatly appreciated, thanks. Good vid btw.
There is some truth to the fact that the GSG-5 is basically an airsoft body modified with .22 internals--that said, it's great to get the HK looks for airsoft prices!!
that is true but my problem is i could get a airsoft mp5 for like half the price of the gsg and i could use it in the city but it would not be as fun as the gsg so it is a hard to decide
Good review dude! All I can say about those aluminum mounts... BE CAREFUL! mine cracked as I was uninstalling it for take down... I am using the CA version and ended up doing a "JBW" repair before paint... I actually think its tougher than before the crack. Anywho... good review man, check out my channel for another pic of the refinish. ATI has yet to send my damn bolt back however...
Gotta love the JBW!!! I love the digi look on your gun, very cool. Call Ray at ATI and check on the status of your bolt, I would think it should be back by now.

I've watched your video and am curious how you prevent the Classic Army from scratching your receiver.

i thought GSG items were made by ICS? surely ICS partd would fit a GSG 5?

Yeah I would agree, I would use the GSG rails with the Classic Army buttstock and end cap if possible.

i thought this was an excellent & thorough review & honestly, you helped me!

The GSG stock definetly appears to be a darker black, which would be an issue to consider.

what feature makes the difference between a collapsible stock that can only go in all the way in or out and one that has 3 positions? please help

Has any one put a real MP-5 collapsible stock on the GSG-2?

if i remove my collaspible stock and replace with an end cap does it make it a SBR?
bradbaker58 2 years ago
No only a barrel length from bore to muzzle end that is less than 16 inches constitues an SBR
CptVog 2 years ago
Simple. Use the GSG rails on the classic army metal butt.

I would have to concur with that assessment :-)

The stock on the top of the screen is the Classic Army--easy to identify since it has the sling loop . . .

I need to get into the 10/22 as well . . . many of my range buddies have them and rave about their performance and customization options.

yeah, but i cant stand seeing that "mp5 kit" for the 10/22, thats where i draw the line and buy a gsg5 lol

can you use a real mp5 stock on a gsg 5 if you remove the spring on it?
m91nagant 2 years ago
a real mp5 retractable stock costs a helluva lot more, why would you go thru the trouble of doing that?
gruzergrub5000 2 years ago
A "real" HK collapsible stock can work with various modifications . . . not worth it, IMO.

The end cap on the GSG collapsible is definitely the weak point in the design. You can use the GSG rails with the CA endcap, however!
