"I'll be the boy in the corduroy pants, you'll be the girl at the high school dance"... The way he brings the room down during Mike's solo, only to bring it back up is pure genius. This is what a true rock'n roll band is all about!
@Schpinki My cousin told me it sucks... too bad for her she doesn't have good taste. It really depresses her when she hears me talking about my adventures with Rock & Roll. She is sooooo jealous!!!
@Zwitchau Probably just having a bad day... or he meant to click on a Miley Cyrus video and before it played he tried to vote it down but accidentally clicked on a Tom Petty video. But eh, I dunno, beats me.
Tom Petty !!! One of the best concerts I have ever seen in my life.. Not only great music, but Petty captured the whole audience. A great showman, and great artist..

I love Tom Petty...not in a gay way...even though there's nothing wrong with that...if that's your thing...I'm not here to judge...but he's so damn talented...suck a great songwriter...did I say suck...I meant suck...I mean such...okay maybe a little gay.
My wife and I saw them in Orlando(although I live in Gainesville). It was my first and last concert. We were up in the nose bleed section but there was plenty of room below. I will always regret nor being more assertive and grabbing closer seats. What I remember most will always be Benmont Tench's improve piano solo which brought tears to my eyes it was so beautiful! If my memory serves me right It was on this song.
Wanted to watch Wildflowers by Tom Petty this is what i got: This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by WMG. Skipped to the next available video. FUCK WARNER MUSIC GROUP
@hofnerv03 There's a word in the dictionary I'd like you to look up: it's called subjectivity. I love those artists, but even if someone else doesn't, I at least ask them to respect them as artists. And if they can't do that then I tell them they don't know what music means, which they don't.
Tom and the Heartbreakers are the greatest...always were, always will be.
I do agree with the negative comment about Mike's hair though. I don't like it, but I guess it's his choice, and since it doesn't affect his incredible talent, I will just have to live with it.
You got that right! I would stick my neck out here and say he probably one of the best technical guitarists in the world! And he doesn't play "air guitar", or "waste notes" like more well known guitarists. Take that Clapton!!
Man I learned how to play this on the guitar, quite easy of course but none the less I know exactly what you mean, once I learned I must have played along to it over 10 times, like you said its just one of those songs,
Wilflowers is a masterpiece album, every single song sounds great, especially live. in the box RUNNING DOWN A DREAM you can listen in the bonus cd at the live version of HONEY BEE, from Saturday Night Live, and it's great.
Great song, but Mike Campbell needs to do something about his hair. Time to give it up, Mike. ;-)
What happened to the dude that used to be Petty's drummer? He used to be in the band forever. I always liked how that guy kept the beat (though this guy looks very good).
the dvd that this song verson is on will tell you. i can't remeber what the reason was i have it and havn't watched in a while but i think he was fired. please don't quote me on this. this is the 2006 flordia reunion concert where he's from. i saw the tour. buy it!!!!!!
Yes, Stan Lynch was basically let go by mutual consent as he was against Tom issuing solo albums along with other issues as explained in the Documentary. Steve Ferrone has been with him ever since and is a great drummer who has a different style than Stan.
TASTE IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER. I HAVE LOVED THIS STRANGE LOOKING DUDE SINCE THE VINYL DAYS.

Yeah, Mike's playing is on this is evocative of Jerry Garcia's but with his own brand of originality. Good stuff.

It takes someone like Tom to make something so simple as these 4 chords and make em interesting. A LOT harder than playing the 4 chords!!!
Helps when you have someone like Mike Campbell on guitar as well!
