The love of my life! This car has haunted me since childhood. I think it's so beautiful, unfortunately I have not seen it in real life, but I know that I will one day, and I'm sure it will be even more beautiful than in pictures :)
Interesting - and hard to believe it's more than 40 years old - but to me it just doesn't look like a Ferrari. Not saying it's ugly - it isn't - but it just doesn't say 'Ferrari'.
@blertdrax it is ugly... it's way uglier than the bertone's and such which came after it - it was very influential as a design principle though so i respect that
I remember this from my childhood, think it was in a book I had on prototypes or something!
I remember reading that it was not designed with functionality in mind, to the extreme that the front wheels could not turn properly?
It's a fascinating design study, all the more unbelievable considering this was 1968. It would pass for a design study from the early 80's without question.
'Err ... solar panel 'esque and submersible | submarine capabilities, along with advanced tech stealth and defense features ...? No, but the suggestion is there, right? Many utterly FUTURIST design attributes, besting others' iterations of this vocabulary; for that reason its nails an A- overall, with certain A+ attributes scores.
One can only begin to imagine how compelling this astounding masterpiece might transmute were it to receive any today's glorious engineering, accessories or cosmetic treatments eg, DuPont's Kameleon (sic) chameleon paint, chrome/gold metal paint, iridescent highlighting, pearl top-coating, new wheels other than Barroni.
Its Amazing To See How In The 90's 80's People had Enought Imagination To See Whats Could Be The Future. And Today We Can't Even Say Whats Coming For 2020...Fantastic!
I remember seeing this car in a book somewhere. Sure, this may be a funky looking car, but it's that sheer inginuity that makes this car so brilliant. Think about the Miura. That was so radical, and so unheard of back in the 60's. This, was even bigger but less heard of. And I proudly stand by my opinion saying that this is a fantastic looking car based on it's unusualness, it gives it character.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, sweet bliss; images of the car I fell in love with at aged 9 and loved since. A true one off froma design genius. Forget the Veyron; the Modulo is KING.
Fabulous scenes of the car cruising through beautiful scenery with a ambient soundtrack - a splendid posting and what you-tube is all about. Thanks VERY much for sharing!
So what did you achieve by that comment? You put something negative in everyone-who-likes-this-car's day, then complimented it for what it deserves. Why? What was the point? Why did you comment on this video the way you did?
Imho, it being revolutionary or/and genius are also opinions... Which I wasn't judging, btw.
Facts are not always objective. Imagine having a headache and telling somebody about it: the headache would only exists in your reality, being objective solely to you, and subjective to those who have to take your word for it being true.
It is a shame to be clueless as to why one does certain things - the farther it goes, the less trustworthy one is.
Ok.... Whatever... But if you say the first steam engine was revolutionary discovery it's more than just subjective opinion as it in fact was revolutionary(Something completely new and innovative). And if you're having a headache you're having a headache; It's a fact and so objective while the level of pain is subjective... Facts are always objective; Water boils at 100degree, there's nothing subjective about that... And for me this thing is gruesome, that's subjective...
Are you claiming this to be the first futuristically designed car?
May I recommend avoiding making such assertions on topics you clearly lack knowledge in? You are embarrassing yourself in front of those who have such knowledge as well as misleading those who don' t by doing so. I can point you towards great reading material if you wish.
Actually I don't claim it's the first... Many firms get warmed up for making such things in the 60ies; Like Lamborghini or Alfa Romeo... And they all never went serial as soon after more stylish and less "overfuturistic" models were made....
The one even looked nice, Alfa Romeo's "Carbo33" or something like that...
Before the "Countach" was made all was more or less the complete(Well not complete, but aesthetic atleast) failure, grotesque monsters...
Therefore, and I'm basing myself on the definition you provided, it cannot be revolutionary :).
Wiki claims that the Countach was partially inspired by Alfa Romeo Carabo (I assume that's what you meant by Carbo33, not the Alfa Romeo Tipo 33, on whose chassis the Carabo was built), and imho is the 2nd best looking Lambo ever made, after the Miura.
Ok... But Miura... Ok I won't say it... But the extremely googly frontal and apsurdly curved line make it look incomparably worse than ANY sharp/straight lined car(By ANY I don't mean "Countach" or the HMMW, but more like YUGO skala 55; LOL).
P.S The second best looking Lambo, after the Countach ofcourse, is this one watch?v=WQu08gpcb1U&feature=rec-fav-watch-cur_emp-exp_fresh+div
To each their own then :). I mean, I consider the Ford Festiva a sick car, as well as the Volks Fox and most Soviet cars, so I don't know if we will find a common ground in our car tastes :P. Maybe DeTomaso Pantera?
Pantera is pretty good... The Russian cars are ugly in general and so are all the small cars like Ford Festiva or the Korean/Japanese ones... And I don't know how Volks Fox looks like...
P.S But I think we already have the common "taste" ground; The Countach...
It's not that ugly as I imagined; The Fox... But is quite unimaginative :P It's just too simple, like a car drawn by a kid or something like that LOL!
The music goes perfect with this car and video. I remember seeing this car in a book too, and something told me to search it up o youtube. Such a beautiful design.
Whether one loves it or finds it too alien and modernistic, it remains difficult not to hail the Modulo as one of the most unique automotive designs ever. Thanks for posting this splendid tribute to this amazing objet d'art on wheels. Bravo!
Jonn Serrie is the master of space music, and how beautifully time and space is graced when witnessing such display of Paolo’s design . Design of true substance. Away from the silence of present aggressive oblivion, where car design is destined by lack of vision, but mostly, away from any bravery!
Concept car - only 1 made by Pininfarina. It is at the Pininfarina museum and not for sale - value is impossible to assess. It was never designed to be used in real life. The body prevents the wheels from turning so you can't really go around corners.

I think that a four door Ferrari would actually maybe work in todays world. I also wonder if the Modulo could drive under a semi.
WOW! This and the Ferrari Pinin were the two most radical designs ever. I was amazed at the Ferrari Module concept when I first saw a picture of it in the early 90s. I could not get over how low it was, and that they had to cut holes in the body work so that the wheels would fit on the extremely low chassie. I always wondered how tall the Modulo actually was, and if it could've been considered the lowest/shortest car in history. I also like the Ferrari Pinin, the other most radical Ferrari
This was realesed in 1970 as one of the worlds most futuristic car designs ever .. The wheels are hidden in the arches because they thought that one day all cars would fly.. This is a tribute to that idea. I think that the car is beautiful and timeless.
wow one of my first childhood memories was a car book my father had w/ this on the cover, the rest of the cars featured were much older, so I am sure the book he had was not much newer mid late 70's. I remember looking at it in the early 80's. I had no idea this car was that old either.
