shouldn't bunkai work for all body types? How is a smaller person going to lift somebody as in the last application of your "bunkai". Seems like just punching and blocking with no Tuite
@TheJeh1020 The great thing about kata is it's openness to interpretation. One person's application may not be as effective for another person's body style or physical capability. In this case, a smaller person dumping a taller person is actually easier then the other way around due to physics (pulling them off balance). Also, is the person limited by the technique or their strength/balance. You can change and improve the latter with additional training.
Well done, no show, just your interpretation of Naihanshi (Tekki). Inapplication (not bunkai!) you follow the Kata and possibly change the exit-technique, like you did (otoshi-empi vs. uraken-uchi I think I´ve seen). Very good job, brother, thanks for sharing, application of naihanchi are numerous, so everybody can learn from this tape. Please, take my respect, Oss
That's a solid video and excellent interpretation! Good that you mixed it up and got a 'street clothes' view. :-) Thanks for the info. Colin 5th dan Taekwondo
I've been going over and over Tekki Shodan for a while and some of the techniques had me baffled as to how to make hem realistic (probably due to the embusen/sideways floor plan of the Kata). The foot sweep/nammi ashi I see you used as a kick to knee is good. Judo style foot sweeps need such good timing but to sweep it out is a bonus :D Thank you for such good work! :)
Muy bien. Bunkais creibles y bien hechos. Estas son las verdaderas aplicaciones de las katas que deberían practicarse en todos los Dojos de Karate. Pero no se hace así
I've always interpreted the foot technique (I've heard it called "returning wave") as a full-on sweep. Your interpretation showed an effective way of using it more subtly as a means of distracting and slightly off-balancing the opponent for a fist/elbow to jodan. Nice!
@anttialeksanteri hyvin oot tutkinu naihanchia kokeileppa samoja periaatteita matossa toimii yhtä hyvin sielläkin. ja nyt tarkoitan eri itsepuolustus tilanteita maassa en brassijujutsua.
@Nerubio This is Genseiryu Naihanchi, it is mentioned in the infobox. Yuishinkai's version is almost identical, they call it Koshiki Naihanchi (old naihanchi).

I do like for format of this demo video very much. A good way to show your versions of a kata, and an application of its postures.

I like the music. Which artist is it and song or album?
Gieszkanne 2 months ago
@Gieszkanne The music was just something suitable I found, I think it was called Taiko vs. Shamisen or something.

Ahh, the version of Naihanhi I have been taught is so different, but the elements are still easily recognizable. Very good bunkai :)
