this is kind of ironic that the cast of Spring Awakening is singing "Touch Me" at Virgin Mobile lol. Hats off! I totally LOVE Spring Awakening. The cast works so unbelievably well together

If you've only ever listened to the cast recording, those Touch Me lyrics are very outdated -- they were used off-Broadway but I'm pretty sure that even by the time the show was in previews on Broadway the lyrics had been revised. The lyrics in this video have been the ones actually used in all English speaking productions of the show that I know of since November 2006 :)

Though I don't want to give away too much of the show, it is about a group of children growing into adolescents (the characters are roughly ages 12 to 14, while the actors are 18-22). The entire score consists of the outward expression of their inner thoughts. In other words, the songs are only what these kids are thinking the whole time.

I have seen Spring Awakening 7 times (5 with the Original cast, once on tour, and once with the new cast) and while I enjoyed all of them, the OBC was still the best cast I have seen. This song and basically every other one too was performed so beautifully by them (of course, the new cast was also beautiful)

and Gideon has the prettiest voice out of the entire cast, imo.

there is just something about this song that is so haunting.... it's not just sexually charged, which it totally is. It's more... getting lost in the feeling of the touch of another person. it's almost sad in that what they are talking about is the longing for connection..... am i wrong? reading too much into this?
