thats the nicest idea for christmas give to others that would appreciate it. I give my family bath towels, soap and socks, chocolate bars, pens, things that will be used because later I see it just sitting around the house to the homeless its appreciated just think how they would feel having clean warm dry socks on and a full stomache for once things we take for granted everyday.

I know this is going to sound really mean but I want you to think about the fact that's it's mostly true: what is the point of giving away stuff to people who are useless? because they are. "life is precious" and all that is not true. also, what happened to "give a man a fish..." and all that?
it's to make yourself feel good, it's a really selfish and dumb act. stop doing it.
Great Idea! A sandwich, a bottle of water (which can be refilled), a candy bar or hard candies, bus tickets (a place to re-warm) maybe a pre-paid phone card (you can't assume homeless do not have loved ones), a packable absorbent towel.
I have done this in the past. BUT I must say that it is better to hand out 1 wool stocking cap or toque, 1 pair of wool gloves, 1 pair of wool mittens, 2 pairs of wool socks and one king size wool blanket all in a large zip top bag. Wool is the only material that can keep you warm even when wet. I always asked if they were allergic to wool before giving them the wool package. I also include wool long johns when possible.
Great idea!!

I hope that everyone who reads this will give a bag of the mentioned items below in wool to at least one person in need this holiday season.

Anthony, I just read your comment now.
I put a winter hat in, gloves, some toiletries and a cookie.
