  • It is funny to see the victim singled out for blame

    and not the aggressor.

  • people always like to judge others in hindsight

but try to put yourself in the position of France in 1919

    How would you feel then?

  • the revenge part of it may be a little exaggerated but common man italy, france n britain lost a combined 5MILLION men dead in the war ur tellin me if u were a leader in one of those countries u wouldnt have even a litle revenge on ur mind?

  • This is an excellent documentary on the Versailes Treaty negotiations but as you can see from the trailer it also is flawed because it follows the common mis-perception that the VT was vindictive and sought revenge.

That is not true. The VT was fair. but it sought security against future German aggression and it sought compensation for damages incurred.

Of Course the Germans had difficulty accepting loss of territory and accepting demilitarization...but it had to be done.

  • @EdwardRommel Germany did not start World War One - they only joined to backup Austria because Russia had declared war on it. Not only this but Germany had surrendered because they thought they were signing up for a peace about which they had been lied to. So no, the terms of the VT did not have to be so harsh at all, and it is because of this the seeds of World War 2 were sewn.

  • @not3bad13 Read Fritz Fischer, read Pogge von Strandmann. Germany's to blame. Her government was paranoid for fear of encirclement. The blank check given to Hoyos was nothing more than an elaborate trap: the Dual Monarchy's aggression would compel Russia to some sort of teethed demand, some sort of mobilization. Germany used the July Crisis to kick off an offensive war of hegemonic ambition where she could appear the champion, defending against another power's aggression.

  • This is a documentary ... it is on Military Channel

  • I saw it... It's crazy to know how peace is harder to maintain than war...

I'm pretty warrior. I like people who push me to my limits. But when is harder to get peace than war... That is a biggest challenge.

  • I wonder if they might throw the fact that a young Ho Chi Ming was in the crowds outside trying to get a word with Wodrow Wilson about the situation in Vietnam with the French?

  • they do

  • Exceptional trailer.

The bad peace of WWI led directly to WWII - a lesson for the future.
