A talent unmatched yesterday, today, and beyond. I was riding home on the school bus when I heard the news March 19 1982. A portion of me died that day never to return. I will never forget..............=(
@fluxerflixer1 Hello, I was informed SME blocked this video in like 227 countries effective 12-4-11. I contested this since I don't believe they have a legit copyright that prevents me from using it on my youtube news channel. I'm wondering, which country did you view this video from?
i noticed that when the solo was spliced onto the tribute, they made it a half step higher than the actual recording. it isn't really a bad thing it actually sounded pretty cool played at A# instead of A, but that's how you can tell it's been spliced
Is this the Circle theater show? it was hotter than hell, no air conditioning, no ice for drinks, 2000 people packed in dude swinging from stage curtain, I was sittin in the balcony chillin, def lep openned up this show, very memorable
I get a kick out of some of the "comparison" comments. The nice thing is music isn't math, so there can never be any "right" or "wrong" answer. It's all there just to enjoy. :)
Ozzy was in a hurry to leave this gig because the Jacksons were playing at Market Square Arena that night and he wanted to check 'em out. That bit of info came from Rudy Sarzo's book, a great read. This is indeed the Indy solo, Randy's trademark melody. How do I know? Because I was there...about 12 yards in front of Randy for the entire show.
this came from a bootleg called load up. Several people have commented that this is from the montreal show. Now I have compared this indi 8-28-81 recording to the montreal show and it's amazing how perfect this solo is to the montreal show. Ozzy even makes the same mistake when he says " Don't you know what it's really about, really about " He's supposed to say, " what you sow can be hell on this earth, hell on this earth" ozzy doesn't introduce randy before his solo at the indi show.
Yeah, Ozzy, because of his addiction and burnout through the years, would often get the lyrics wrong. He uses a prompter most of the time. I recall when Rob Halford (Judas Priest) would do Ozzy/Sabbath covers and never used the prompter. True.
hey i never knew this solo wasnt in the original song, i just knew it was amazing thanks for posting this. im trying to compare it to eruption because it sounds slightly similer.
The best thing about live performances to me is that it's real and live and if there were no screwups then it wouldn't be live. It's too bad some bands wont tour much because they dont want to disappoint their fans. But in reality their fans want live performances. Long live OZZY!
@brightbite listen to jimim hendrix live one of the most sloppiest players; bein on tht shit nd all, but half the shit he plays is garbage fuckups but the way he incorperates them into his live stage performance is incredible the slides and chord switchups he would have even attempted if he wasnt fuckin up in the first place
especially when you didn't write any of the lyrics (thank you, Bob Daisley) and are completely fried. Not a good combo... I didn't mean this to be argumentative, just seems to be the way it is with Ozzy.
To go with your comment, there is no argument at Ozzy the showman...not many can compare. His stage presence and charisma are virtually unparalled.
Tribute was screwed up in the studio when ozzy tried to remix the recording which drums, vocal, guitar, bass and keyboards were on one track. So sound engineers had little control over perfecting each track.
Ozzy always knew when he messed up right away...he would usually differ the enunciation like "oops" I saw ozzy mess up suicide solution at ozzfest a couple years ago he was a little embarrassed at the moment but the band covered him well and it went great.

yes, from 6:55 it sounds alot like the middle part in eruption to me.
bigblakblob2 2 years ago
@bigblakblob2 Yeah, and Randy said he HATED that! But Ozzy made him do "something Van Halenesque" in his solo, and this was it.

In all fairness to Ozzy, everyone forgets lyrics sometimes. It's hard to stay focused onstage sometimes.
