LOL all you Pippen fans crack me up, sure Pippen is and always be amazing, but come on, Kobe Bryant is in a different league. And Kobe was 19 this year...
skip "brainless" from first take gotta get off whatever he's smoking. For him to call pippen over-rated and not hall of fame worthy is absolutely ridiculous. i dont care how great jordan was (and he's my favorite player ever and always will be), pippen's maturity and defensive mindset made it possible for jordan to be a six time nba champ. For people to think that jordan alone would've won all them titles is big time lack of recognition and respect to one of the greatest ever; scottie pippen!!!
@nahor88 Yeah what happened then was. Pippen and Barkley didn't have good chemistry. Olajuwon was way past his prime as well as Barkley. Even tho that squad looked good on paper. Chemistry outweighed talent in that situation.
@TheRatedIX7 And pippen was old as well...... That team would have won 6 titles in the early-mid 90's, It was just too late, and resumes dont bring home championships
@nahor88 I up'd Gm 2 of this series today (I'm gonna release it Friday). Let's just say it's not as pretty for Houston as this game, haha. Houston's Big 3 were all frustrated, Lakers tore them a new one. You can clearly see in the other 3 gms of this series that those Rockets were fractured. Matter of fact, Pippen talked shh about Barkley after they were eliminated. He said he wished he never decided to play w/ Chuck.
If Clyde Drexler stuck around for 1998-99: Olajuwon-Barkley-Pippen-Drexler-Maloney. If Magic Johnson stuck around for 1996-97: Shaq-Magic -Kobe-E.Jones-Van Exel. Yes, I know Kobe was not a starter then and I know this is unrealistic, but one can imagine.
Yea, I agree Pippen is better than Kobe. Pippen is a better defender and a better all around player than Kobe. Kobe isn't even better than Larry Bird. People think it's all about scoring, it's not. It's about doing everything.

@manlo248 Pippen's prime ended in '96 mainly due to injury. After that season he was battling injury after injury every year and pretty much had surgery on various parts of his body during every offseason. The back surgery he got after the '98 Finals clearly robbed him of a lot of his quickness and athleticism. He already had a ton of mileage on his body after being in so many playoff games and going through two Olympics.
@KingXfaction1 lMAO YOU DOPE. Kobe's prime was 2 years? Kobe in his prime has won the past 2 titles u fool. Pippen was never on Kobe's level. YOU IDIOTS ARE GOING TO FREAKING 1999 when Kobe was 19 to hate on him? Kobe as soon as he got a legit big man has been in the past 3 finals. Its like you KOBE HATING IDIOTS are insane. MJ DID NOT WIN 1 POST SEASON SERIES WITH A CRAPPY SUPPORTING CAST, THE ONLY DIFFERENCE KOBE GOT THE CRAP CAST IN THE MIDDLE OF HIS CAREER
im a houston rockets fan can someone please post a scottie pippen mix with the rockets even though his stint in houston didnt go all that well hes still one of my fave players
Sometimes I wish Scottie was more of a volume shooter rather than being so unselfish. He had so many weapons in his arsenal. I think his highest average for FG attempts was 17-18. He should have been taking at least 20 shots a game. This game Scottie just said fuck it I'm shooting everything lol
thats because scotties love for the the game is awesome. he even settled for a low salary in the bulls, when rodman joined he had higher salary than pippen, pippen stayed anyway because of his burning desire to win. and he knew jordan needs him.
this was the game that pippen set his playoff high in points except for game 2 he played a decent series the only thing is he did'nt shoot the ball well he shot 5-13, 12-27, 6-23, and 0-7 but he did rebound, defend , get assits.
why in the hell did'nt the rockets put pippen in the post against kobe from game 1 of this series you could clearly see kobe could'nt guard him in the post kobe was too weak and small.
@ILoveMe2004 It's kind of hard to put Pippen in the post when Barkley and Olajuwon are occupying the area 24/7. The only reason Pippen got a lot of time in the post in this game was because Hakeem was in foul trouble for just about the entire time.
it's good seeing pippen, the most underrated player of all time, going against kobe, the most overrated player of all time. if ne1 disagrees with me heres 1 reason: in 1989-90 pippen had 200 stl and 100 blk, 1 of only 3 players to ever do this and the only fwd to do this. that year he didnt even get all defense 2nd team. kobe's been overrated from the moment he entered the nba (1998 all star on 15ppg) up to this year. can someone explain how u can make all defense 1st team on 113stl & 20blk?
@Salva46 y would u think i dont know shit about bball? i stated only facts in my post. if u see something incorrect let me know. but merely counterattacking my post by giving direct insults to me doesnt support ur basis and does nothing but make u look like an idiot.
@redskins2k That was mainly Prime Shaq that killed teams. Kobe in his prime couldn't even get past the first round without Shaq. He couldn't even get his team into the playoffs the first year and then choked a 3-1 lead to a defenseless Suns team the next year for good measure. Kobe has proven without Shaq or Gasol he's nothing but a glorified chucker..
@AxeSmashDemolition LMAO WITHOUT GASOL? WITHOUT MCHALE , BIRD HAS DONE NOTHING, WITHOUT PIPPEN MJ COULD NOT EVEN WIN A PLAYOFF GAME, WITHOUT KAREEM, MAGIC NEVER WON A TITLE. DO YOU REALIZE HOW STUPID YOU SOUND?
@mastersplinter33 The most overrated player your a fucking idiot. Who cant appreicate the game of basketball because of his name. You judge the book by the cover. Your probley one of those kids who talk shit about people just ebcause of the way they look. Your bitch
@drillmaster33 No dumbass. Im a fan of the game of basketball. I appreicate great players who play the game at a different level as likes of Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, Kevin Garnett, Dwight Howard, Rajon Rondo, Chris Pual, Derrick Rose, I dont hate greatness because ultimatly it just makes you look like a Dumbass.
@drillmaster33 Im sorry man, I mean this with all due respect w/out starting anything...But you can state far better facts about kobe being superior than you can about scottie.First of all Scottie was never a first option guy except both years Michael was out of basketball for baseball(what a waste lol). Both are legends, but you can't possibly compare a top 50 player and a top 10 player of all time. This comes from a big basketball fan.
And who says Kobe is a top 10 all time player?? Come on man! 33 year old Pippen with bad ankles was shitting on Kobe in this clip. MJ was known for TORCHING Pippen in practices it is well documented by Chicago insiders of the 90s. Why do you think his defense was so great? HE GUARDED JORDAN! If MJ destroyed prime Pippen and young Kobe had problems with old Pippen what's that say about prime Jordan??? SCARY!
@Kingjd87 who says hes a top 10?really?the guys who know more about basketball than fans do. jerry wests,magics,barkleys,(do i need to continue?).u gonna call them stupid?Everyone else knows it as well.ur right pippen did handle this game but who won the series?u said bro,YOUNG.Did u really think an INEXPERIENCED kobe was going to outsmart a 6X champ while hes developing?BTW,if ur curious, kobe DESTROYED pippen the following year in the west finals,which is bigger than the 1st rnd like this one!
Dude in 2000 (WCF), Kobe was 22 or 23. Pippen was 34 or 35. Is that really brag worthy for a guy in his physical prime to do well against an old man in sports terms?? Pippen anywhere from 88-98 WOULD SHUT DOWN Mr. Bryant. Kobe is 33 now, in the playoffs Chris Paul broke his ankles left and right. LMAO J Kidd (who's older than Kobe) out played Kobe. So age catches up to everyone...
@Kingjd87 thats the point!LOL.i meant that in both yrs neither was even close to their best.TRUST me kobe wasnt even CLOSE to his prime in 00'.Obviously its easier to say he would lock him down on D b/c of his great defensive reputation,but its far easier said than done.Theres been 1 player whos been tremendous in performing great w/ tight defense aside from Mj& its kobe.ur right about 2011,but he FINALLY gets months' rest after 4 yrs so look out next yr critics!! *cough cough* tv analysts lol
@Kingjd87 that was one year that Jason Kidd did that to Kobe and plus that vid was when Kobe was really young and remember after that year to this year so far Kobe has proven hes top ten all-time better than pippen so before you go talking trash think a little
@Kingjd87 Kobe is still the best in the game has a great resume since that year top ten all-time won back to back championships the year before that and Lakers would of beat every other team but Dallas that year and if Lakers just get a few good pieces next year which the will it will be a lock for whose going to wing the championships and that means a 3 finals MVP for Kobe and who knows o think hell probably win MVP to.
@kasmeria Kobe is way better period in all assets clutchness leadership scoring assists and through a certain period of his career defense and if you deny this you either demented or retarded.
Pippen was a much better passer, rebounder and defender than Kobe. It's backed by stats in which Pip avgs more than Kobe in all aspects. The only thing Kobe does better is being a pure scorer. Who needs scoring when you play alongside the greatest scorer of all time (MJ).
@mastersplinter33 you are ignorant. just because you actually get "steals" doesn't mean you can play good defense and it definentely doesn't mean that if you get more steals than another player then you are better than that player. if your dumbass thinks that then right now, you must think stephen curry/monta ellis are better defenders than kobe/artest because they both average more steals than kobe and artest. your arguement is complete bullshit, dumbass
@mastersplinter33 you dont know what ypur saying caling someone like kobe bryant with a resume like that who allot put in there top ten of all-time saying hes overated just shows your stupidity.
Ask Sydney Moncrief,who was a back to back NBA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR. 1982-83(113 steals and 23 blocks. 83-84(108 steals and 27 blocks.) Oh, he is also considered one of the best perimeter defenders of all time. Michael Cooper, 86-87 NBA DPOY. (78 steals 43 blocks.) Another example, Bruce Bowen, one of the toughest 1 on 1 defenders of all time and regular all NBA defensive 1st team member. Career highs: 83 steals, 53 blocks. Lol at you dolts for "liking" his comment.
@mastersplinter33 kobe bryant was 19 here against barely out of his prime pippen who was stronger than a young bryant. bryants 15 points agame he was playing only 26 minutes mind u per 36 minutes he was averaging 23 points a game so keep ur mouth shut about things you dont understand, and kobe gets 1st team all defense because of his on ball defense.
man i remember watching this game live like it was yesterday..this was probably one of pippens best playoff performances n he was down right unstoppable
I'm not knocking the video, I actually like it (Scottie's one of my fav players of all time) but I hate when people take video's like this and then say "Oh you see, Scottie is better than Kobe", I mean Kobe had just started getting real nba minutes and he was young. Thats like saying Kobe is better than Lebron because of a video of Kobe owning the Cavs in Lebrons 3rd year.
@BZOE Agreed. Kobe was on his way up and Pippen was on his way down. Both have great careers and could get the best of one another on any given night. I would have loved to see these guys both going at it in their primes though.
i guess my pt is kobe homers are telling people how great he has been as a perimeter defender since his younger days( please dont tell me kb was only in his 3rd years, look at jordan and pippen in their 3 years, how many blocks and steals they had) this has nothing to do with the fact that scottie is absolutely more experienced than kb in this video.i never discredit kb's scoring ability and i point out how pip was unable to contain kobe either.
@popeyeisgood I never said Kobe was a great defender during these years. I'm simply stating that I hate when people watch these videos and try to compare the player who hasn't entered or has passed his prime to the experienced player. Thats as unfair as me saying...Kobe dropped 40 on MJ when he was on the wizards.
@dimedropper1992 The main guys were past their prime and really had no chemistry. All three were never on there games at the same time. Like Doc Rivers said the main reason Pippen got aggressive in the post was because Olajuwon was in foul trouble so the area was cleared out for him. All year long they used Pippen as a Horry-type spot up shooter and that wasn't his game. Scottie's game was to score on slashing, the pull-up 3, post game, etc and he really did none of that in Houston. Bad fit.
@gershom44 Don't get carried away. In this era Pippen would be a 25 point scorer at best. He wasnt a guy that liked to launch a boatload of shots. He had a point guard mentality. That's why he and MJ meshed so well together. Even when Pippen got insanely hot in his prime Bulls days you still rarely saw him launch more than 25 shots.This game is not indicative to how he played. He was just making a statement because he was heavily criticized for not shooting enough in Game 2.
@Snowjob13 srry dood but scottie is my 2nd favorite player all time. not much yu can tell me about him. there was handchecking in his era. with the lack of physical defense in this era he would be like one lebron james. i rest my case. no offense
That was a raggedy ugly game by Pippen and the rockets. It was obvious that Pippen carried the ball and got favorable calls and non-calls on defense. He pretty much bullied and forced the game to his will a la Jordan. Perhaps he was still fighting over Jordan's shadow at that time. He looked much more at peace and in harmony with the team in those Blazers/Wolves games from previous uploads. Anyway, thanks for sharing these videos and letting us relive these past rockets/Pippen moments.
and pip here is already not quite in his prime. i understand that the lakers played better than the rockets in that series but look how fundamental pippen was. young kobe successfully guarding top perimeter player? lol it is a joke, with players in pippen's caliber kobe had no answer, not that pippen was very successful guarding kobe either, but how naive it is to say kobe is the best ever when he has always been weak in the defensive end? kobe's defensive skill is garbage compared to pip or mj
and this rocket team..shame on them, they got great players in their late primes or already out of prime but lack of chemistry. makes me sad to watch pip playing in houston and portland without decent support like he had in chicago
@popeyeisgood This was a pride game for Pip. After that awful Game 2 he had to redeem himself and this was probably as aggressive as I had seen him ever. He's usually not a volume shooter so for him to take more than 25 shots says a lot. And his post game was an after thought in Houston because Barkley and Olajuwon always dominated that area. Kobe was always a poor post defender. The Blazers practically ran a train on him in the 2000 WCF as well. Great upload...keep'em coming!!
yea i always felt like pip was underused offensively in those two teams. maybe he didnt want the offensive burden or they already had great post players in the paint. but really the 99 houston was not a good team for him, especially
@popeyeisgood i think that its kind of unfair to say kobe is a bad defender because he couldn't guard a HOF player in only his 2nd yr starting. even though pip is not in is prime you can't forget that neither was kobe. plus what about every other game in the series. pippen played horribly offensively
well it was directed to those who said that kobe in his younger days had to guard the best perimeter players and did a good job. if u read what i type i said pippen could never guard kobe that well. 2nd year starting? well people like to compare him to jordan then why not compares his 2nd year starting to jordan second year? no contest at all in all aspect of defense. jordan in his second year(87 since 86 was mostly injured) was tremendous and kobe?
@popeyeisgood i'm just saying that doesn't make kobe a "weak" defender. he may not be as good as ppl say but to say he's weak is unfair. that was my point. it seemed as if you were saying he was a liability on defense. plus he was a 20 yr old kid. mj was around 23. there is a difference. i'm not saying he was as good as mj just not as bad as you're saying.
did i say he is a weak defensive player? i said in comparison he is not as good as jordan or pippen, by a lot. if you watch enough of mj's younger day games, you can tell the difference is HUGE. even when kobe was supposed to be mature he has never been half the jordan on the defensive end. that being said, i never said kb is a weak defender
@popeyeisgood actually that's exactly what you said. go look back at what you wrote. you said "he has always been weak at the defensive end" and that's a quote. maybe you didn't intend to say that but that's what you wrote.
@tupark82 so it was just a yr after he came close to being mvp in 98 finals. plus 5-13 in gm 1 for 13 pts, 0-7 in gm2 for 0 pts, and in game 4, he went 6-23. i expect him not have zero pts in a playoff game. there's no excuse for that.
@coffee468 pip was never a great shooter or scorer. but if you look up the rest of his stats aside from scoring you'll see something like 8 reb, 5 ast, 2 stl, 1 blk, and maybe a few turnovers. pip can be effective even without scoring. if his teammates are having troubles scoring he usually raises his offensive game. basketball can be more than about who scores and shoots well. if you have every skill you can be a plus for any team.
@coffee468 As I can remember Pippen defended Magic Johnson(his Prime) in his 3'd NBA seasone and we all know how he did that.Yes kobe was in his second NBA seasone but that old player was killing him.Kobe isnt a bad defender now but Pippen as defense goes was on another level

RTR9 1 year ago
@drillmaster33 Im sorry man, I mean this with all due respect w/out starting anything...But you can state far better facts about kobe being superior than you can about scottie.First of all Scottie was never a first option guy except both years Michael was out of basketball for baseball(what a waste lol). Both are legends, but you can't possibly compare a top 50 player and a top 10 player of all time. This comes from a big basketball fan.
Lagrimita24 8 months ago
@Lagrimita24
SCARY!
Kingjd87 7 months ago
@Kingjd87 who says hes a top 10?really?the guys who know more about basketball than fans do. jerry wests,magics,barkleys,(do i need to continue?).u gonna call them stupid?Everyone else knows it as well.ur right pippen did handle this game but who won the series?u said bro,YOUNG.Did u really think an INEXPERIENCED kobe was going to outsmart a 6X champ while hes developing?BTW,if ur curious, kobe DESTROYED pippen the following year in the west finals,which is bigger than the 1st rnd like this one!
Lagrimita24 7 months ago
@Lagrimita24
Kingjd87 7 months ago
@Kingjd87 thats the point!LOL.i meant that in both yrs neither was even close to their best.TRUST me kobe wasnt even CLOSE to his prime in 00'.Obviously its easier to say he would lock him down on D b/c of his great defensive reputation,but its far easier said than done.Theres been 1 player whos been tremendous in performing great w/ tight defense aside from Mj& its kobe.ur right about 2011,but he FINALLY gets months' rest after 4 yrs so look out next yr critics!! *cough cough* tv analysts lol
Lagrimita24 7 months ago
@Kingjd87 that was one year that Jason Kidd did that to Kobe and plus that vid was when Kobe was really young and remember after that year to this year so far Kobe has proven hes top ten all-time better than pippen so before you go talking trash think a little
phladophiacheese 7 months ago
@Kingjd87 Kobe is still the best in the game has a great resume since that year top ten all-time won back to back championships the year before that and Lakers would of beat every other team but Dallas that year and if Lakers just get a few good pieces next year which the will it will be a lock for whose going to wing the championships and that means a 3 finals MVP for Kobe and who knows o think hell probably win MVP to.
phladophiacheese 7 months ago
@Kingjd87: What do you mean by MJ was torching Scottie? Tell us more please.
houwie300 7 months ago
@Kingjd87 kobe already old too with lots of injury,but still score 20 pointes per game plus 5 and 5 rebound and assist
wizardzwish 6 months ago
@mastersplinter33 Oh, i am so convinced that pippen is better than kobe, that i forgot that he did NOTHING after playing with mj.
kasmeria 11 months ago
@kasmeria Kobe is way better period in all assets clutchness leadership scoring assists and through a certain period of his career defense and if you deny this you either demented or retarded.
phladophiacheese 7 months ago
@phladophiacheese Man, you are so stupid you can't even understand sarcasm. Very, very stupid.

@phladophiacheese
Kobe at one time in his career was a better defender than prime Pippen?? LMFAOOO That's the funniest shit I've ever read.
Kingjd87 7 months ago
@Kingjd87 LOL I agree. Pippen > Kobe
alec9tap 6 months ago 2
@phladophiacheese
Pippen was a much better passer, rebounder and defender than Kobe. It's backed by stats in which Pip avgs more than Kobe in all aspects. The only thing Kobe does better is being a pure scorer. Who needs scoring when you play alongside the greatest scorer of all time (MJ).
Kingjd87 7 months ago
@mastersplinter33 you are ignorant. just because you actually get "steals" doesn't mean you can play good defense and it definentely doesn't mean that if you get more steals than another player then you are better than that player. if your dumbass thinks that then right now, you must think stephen curry/monta ellis are better defenders than kobe/artest because they both average more steals than kobe and artest. your arguement is complete bullshit, dumbass
myspacesuksazza 11 months ago
@mastersplinter33 you dont know what ypur saying caling someone like kobe bryant with a resume like that who allot put in there top ten of all-time saying hes overated just shows your stupidity.
phladophiacheese 7 months ago
@mastersplinter33 On ball defence, the box score doesn't tell the entire story.
tysonakamrsmooth 5 months ago
@mastersplinter33
24sakotxa24 5 months ago
@mastersplinter33 kobe bryant was 19 here against barely out of his prime pippen who was stronger than a young bryant. bryants 15 points agame he was playing only 26 minutes mind u per 36 minutes he was averaging 23 points a game so keep ur mouth shut about things you dont understand, and kobe gets 1st team all defense because of his on ball defense.

BZOE 1 year ago
@BZOE Agreed. Kobe was on his way up and Pippen was on his way down. Both have great careers and could get the best of one another on any given night. I would have loved to see these guys both going at it in their primes though.
Snowjob13 1 year ago
@Snowjob13 Yeah it would be a great matchup. But Kobe was the better scorer.
BZOE 1 year ago
@BZOE but honestly...kobe is a lot better than lebron!its a fact!

@redfishmann Lol, you don't have to tell me that. I know...I'm trying to convince others.
BZOE 1 year ago
@BZOE
read what wrote please.
i guess my pt is kobe homers are telling people how great he has been as a perimeter defender since his younger days( please dont tell me kb was only in his 3rd years, look at jordan and pippen in their 3 years, how many blocks and steals they had) this has nothing to do with the fact that scottie is absolutely more experienced than kb in this video.i never discredit kb's scoring ability and i point out how pip was unable to contain kobe either.
popeyeisgood 1 year ago
@popeyeisgood I never said Kobe was a great defender during these years. I'm simply stating that I hate when people watch these videos and try to compare the player who hasn't entered or has passed his prime to the experienced player. Thats as unfair as me saying...Kobe dropped 40 on MJ when he was on the wizards.

(scottie over kobe in the post) "all night" - doc rivers
noelh98 1 year ago
man look at that houston roster........ why didn't it work out?
dimedropper1992 1 year ago
@dimedropper1992 The main guys were past their prime and really had no chemistry. All three were never on there games at the same time. Like Doc Rivers said the main reason Pippen got aggressive in the post was because Olajuwon was in foul trouble so the area was cleared out for him. All year long they used Pippen as a Horry-type spot up shooter and that wasn't his game. Scottie's game was to score on slashing, the pull-up 3, post game, etc and he really did none of that in Houston. Bad fit.
KingXfaction1 1 year ago
yu people are idiots! scottie pippen is one of the greatest platers of all time. he would average 40 ppg in this era great video
gershom44 1 year ago
@gershom44 Don't get carried away. In this era Pippen would be a 25 point scorer at best. He wasnt a guy that liked to launch a boatload of shots. He had a point guard mentality. That's why he and MJ meshed so well together. Even when Pippen got insanely hot in his prime Bulls days you still rarely saw him launch more than 25 shots.This game is not indicative to how he played. He was just making a statement because he was heavily criticized for not shooting enough in Game 2.
Snowjob13 1 year ago

Anyway, thanks for sharing these videos and letting us relive these past rockets/Pippen moments.

how many points in the face of bryant... yeah i like that

nice upload!!
another proof of how kobe did a ' good job' guarding opponent best perimeter player.
popeyeisgood 1 year ago
and pip here is already not quite in his prime. i understand that the lakers played better than the rockets in that series but look how fundamental pippen was. young kobe successfully guarding top perimeter player? lol it is a joke, with players in pippen's caliber kobe had no answer, not that pippen was very successful guarding kobe either, but how naive it is to say kobe is the best ever when he has always been weak in the defensive end? kobe's defensive skill is garbage compared to pip or mj
popeyeisgood 1 year ago
and this rocket team..shame on them, they got great players in their late primes or already out of prime but lack of chemistry. makes me sad to watch pip playing in houston and portland without decent support like he had in chicago
popeyeisgood 1 year ago
@popeyeisgood This was a pride game for Pip. After that awful Game 2 he had to redeem himself and this was probably as aggressive as I had seen him ever. He's usually not a volume shooter so for him to take more than 25 shots says a lot. And his post game was an after thought in Houston because Barkley and Olajuwon always dominated that area. Kobe was always a poor post defender. The Blazers practically ran a train on him in the 2000 WCF as well. Great upload...keep'em coming!!
OneGloriousBastard 1 year ago 2
@OneGloriousBastard
yea i always felt like pip was underused offensively in those two teams. maybe he didnt want the offensive burden or they already had great post players in the paint. but really the 99 houston was not a good team for him, especially
popeyeisgood 1 year ago
@popeyeisgood i think that its kind of unfair to say kobe is a bad defender because he couldn't guard a HOF player in only his 2nd yr starting. even though pip is not in is prime you can't forget that neither was kobe. plus what about every other game in the series. pippen played horribly offensively
coffee468 1 year ago
@coffee468
well it was directed to those who said that kobe in his younger days had to guard the best perimeter players and did a good job. if u read what i type i said pippen could never guard kobe that well. 2nd year starting? well people like to compare him to jordan then why not compares his 2nd year starting to jordan second year? no contest at all in all aspect of defense. jordan in his second year(87 since 86 was mostly injured) was tremendous and kobe?
popeyeisgood 1 year ago
@popeyeisgood i'm just saying that doesn't make kobe a "weak" defender. he may not be as good as ppl say but to say he's weak is unfair. that was my point. it seemed as if you were saying he was a liability on defense. plus he was a 20 yr old kid. mj was around 23. there is a difference. i'm not saying he was as good as mj just not as bad as you're saying.
coffee468 1 year ago
@coffee468
did i say he is a weak defensive player? i said in comparison he is not as good as jordan or pippen, by a lot. if you watch enough of mj's younger day games, you can tell the difference is HUGE. even when kobe was supposed to be mature he has never been half the jordan on the defensive end. that being said, i never said kb is a weak defender
popeyeisgood 1 year ago
@popeyeisgood actually that's exactly what you said. go look back at what you wrote. you said "he has always been weak at the defensive end" and that's a quote. maybe you didn't intend to say that but that's what you wrote.
coffee468 1 year ago
@coffee468 pippen averaged 18ppg 12rb 6ast 2st in the playoffs that season. what more do you want from a 33 year old man?
tupark82 1 year ago
@tupark82 so it was just a yr after he came close to being mvp in 98 finals. plus 5-13 in gm 1 for 13 pts, 0-7 in gm2 for 0 pts, and in game 4, he went 6-23. i expect him not have zero pts in a playoff game. there's no excuse for that.
coffee468 1 year ago
@coffee468 pip was never a great shooter or scorer. but if you look up the rest of his stats aside from scoring you'll see something like 8 reb, 5 ast, 2 stl, 1 blk, and maybe a few turnovers. pip can be effective even without scoring. if his teammates are having troubles scoring he usually raises his offensive game. basketball can be more than about who scores and shoots well. if you have every skill you can be a plus for any team.
destr0n 1 year ago
@coffee468 As I can remember Pippen defended Magic Johnson(his Prime) in his 3'd NBA seasone and we all know how he did that.Yes kobe was in his second NBA seasone but that old player was killing him.Kobe isnt a bad defender now but Pippen as defense goes was on another level
