  • @ .08 got burned by an exhaust flame Santa? cool video...

  • That old commercial used to say "There's nothing like the face of a kid eating a Hershey bar"... well, there's nothing like the face of that guy sitting in a nitromethane dragster.

  • Flex your big toe and all the fuel ever produced in the middle east over the last 40 years is GONE!

  • Stellings and Hampshire , yessir! Bobby T ruined me for life by letting me get WAAAY tooclose to that car, gave me the hemi bug and it's never gone away : )

  • I thought that dude's beard was gonna catch on fire.

  • 7 people are homos

  • @cheatcheaters what means Imao then? Huh?

  • I thought you'd need the balls of King Kong to sit in that seat,

    - but that's a GIRL...!!

  • ya grab on to the exhaust its not warm at all!

  • Does your microphone not really like the sound, or is it really this sound in real life??

Cause if the sound is, it sucks

  • @Hydrohid ....That is exactly how it sounded.....Might I suggest using a Q-Tip>?

  • @Hydrohid lmao if u think it sounds like shit and u need to ask if thats what it sounds like, u dont know shit lmao...

  • @Hydrohid

go try Nitro mate, it moves the ground beneath your feet!

  • For those that drive and have driven these, do you put roller skates under your balls to prevent them from dragging on the ground?

  • I was afraid that the engine might suck the man's beard in

  • front engine drag rail = strap engine legs , rest your balls on transmission , and spin some tires next to your head then hope to god it all stays together.

  • how the hell could he see past that...

  • Why is the guy with a beard standing over the zorsts that are spitting flames???

  • It looks like Santa its not delivering gifts anymore...ITS DELIVERING HP BABY !!!!

  • Dude fuck this video, now I have to change my pants

  • I just got a boner from this

  • Reversing that thing by pushing it back at the engine is the last place on earth were i would push!

  • When I grow up, I want a beard like that man standing up!

  • Oh Now I know from what I"ll take engine to my vacuum cleaner... :D

  • i want this engine in my s10 XD

  • Hey Santa, safety first matethat blower and your beard don't match.

  • nitromethane: the most powerful solvent in the world; instantly dissolves marriages AND bank accounts

  • that must be space plexiglass for when a blower tries to KO your teefs at 160mph upsidedown

  • and people wonder how santa claus gets around the world in one night. there he was with his sleigh.

  • @flaminbreath ...Indeed...This would explain a few things........

  • @flaminbreath OMG, fricken hilarious!!!!!!

  • @flaminbreath screw getting presents, give me a ride in that and ill never ask for a single thing ever again!

  • Comment removed

  • engine blows you die!....thats y rear engine dragsters are safer.......but they still use it in Funny cars?........no sense to me.

  • @jeepers2655 they are up higher and farther back in funny cars, but yea i agree rear engine dragsters are alot safer if the blower pops you get all that flame and chunks of metal in the face at 300+ mph

  • That is what it is all about. Pure Class!!!!

  • Long beard is long.

  • Its just idle at 10,000rpm..

  • Useless ????? HA effin HA....you know nothing!!

  • does anyone know how much it cost to put together an engine like the one in the video?

  • Nice to see the old school cars. AA/FD Rules!

  • id be skeered my big ol beard would git sucked right in there

  • I swear, I'm nervous as hell for that guy with that long beard. SOOO many different ways he could lose his face, working around that rail. Let's see, ummm.....catching fire from the zoomies, getting it ripped off by getting it caught in the blower belt, getting it sucked down the bug-catcher, and I suppose there are a few other ways we could find if I cared to look too deeply. God forbid, and hope his angels will keep him safe.

  • his beard could catch fire

  • HeHe...look at the grin on the guy in the cockpit. He's having a good time!

  • That's why I love drag racing. I can roam the pits, see the drivers and teams. Talk to them. Watch them wrench on the machines. And it has always been this way. And you can participate, too. Versus NASCAR who are full of untouchable snobs who just want to sell corn flakes and Viagra, and can't participate, just watch them go in a circle..

  • @Cojoness Well, You would know all about being useless.....

  • @Cojoness all old dragsters where like that and funny cars today are like that

  • @Cojoness calm down its old school

  • @Cojoness its a classic, thats the way they did it back in the 60s, fire breathing beasts, these thing sset unbelieveable speed records back then, i would be willing to bet this car would run high 5 seconds low 6 seconds in the quarter mile at around 225 mph

  • @Cojoness That my friend is a vintage Top Fuel dragster, commonlyy known as a "slingshot"

  • @Cojoness Are you American??

  • I was waiting for his beard to catch fire...

  • A gas that gives engines more powerful

  • Don't get that beard caught in the works old fella, it'll suck you in and spit you out

  • he's a brave man dangling that beard over the supercharger belt

  • A beast on 4 wheels.

  • The old Hilborne bug-catcher injectors was the very first big-catcher injector system but they were dropped, early on, in favor of the 3-hole Enderle system.

  • how these two guys going to hold that engine and push it back, it should be hot as hell!

  • @eduardolz31 those motors actually really don't get hot until they go down the track. that nitro is almost like running nitrous as gas in those motors that stuff doesn't hardly get hot for nothing. one of my friends as a 91 mustang running straight alcohol and he can go down the track probably 6 or 7 times before the temperature finally hits about 160 degrees. it's very amazing!!!

  • @moore96impala Alcohol is NOT Nitromethane!

  • @MerlinxPV oh yea i know. i was just saying that my friend runs alcohol in his car, so i know that nitro doesn't get hot at all

  • @moore96impala Nitro doesn't get hot?? Heat is horsepower and you better believe nitro gets hot, what guys like you don't understand is you can't just pour it in and go, you have to make changes to the engine and fuel system to get the real power. Alcohol is not nitromethane.

  • hes gonna get his beard sucked by the blowers lol

  • That guy has the greatest beard.

  • What is Nirtomethane?

  • is the fuel that is run in this machine

  • Liquid Bank Account Cleaner..

  • @AznBoyz100 its a type of fuel. potential for much more power than gasoline, but you'd get terrible mileage with it.

  • Thanks Big Daddy for putting them in the back ;)

  • That guy better be careful not to burn his beard off

  • >:O Gandalf , where have you been ? :D

  • rofl

  • That would be funny if zz top got his beared sucked into the blower belt

  • haha or got it burned off by the exhaust flames lmao

  • lmao funniest comment ever.

  • @HeadUpKneeDown man i can't stop laughing!!!!! hahahahahahahaha

  • well except for ther flames from the exhaust, pump gas won't do that, and it won't make that popcorn popping soung either that sounds so fucking cool, and you would not get 8,000hp with no pump gas

  • that guys beard has been burned before... i promise

  • Not

  • it looked like the engine was calling santa claws..like REEVV(hey come here) touch me...

  • lol look at hes happy face

  • im still waiting for them to tell what relevance the title is to the video..great vid but a misleading title

  • If you have to ask, then you dont need to know....

  • Spot on, anyone who has stood beside a Nitro dragster knows exactly what it's all about, you just have to be there...

  • haha my auto teacher told me if im in the pit and see a cloud of yellow smoke by the dragster get in it immediately.

  • @murphy91

What a racing snob you are.....but I totally feel ya! Think I might of just blown a speaker.

  • @rootypootooty...All my snobbery aside, Thank You......I hope you enjoyed the videos. As I get new ones that are good, I'll add them.

  • If you need an explanation it is obvious you will not understand if someone were to try.

  • @SteveO15693 If you have to ask, you won't understand.

  • @1GaryH1 Get over yourself. You had no part in this conversation so go find someone else to talk shit to.

  • @SteveO15693 I didn't know you got a clue between then and now...

  • @SteveO15693 maybe the author is a chemist...^^ btw drags are the major reason why it's made!

  • I was waitin for the guys beard to get ripped off in the drive belt. At least roll it up and put a rubber band over it.

  • I was waiting for the beard to get caught in the belt or sucked into the blower.

  • LOLD

  • i was waiting for the guys beard to catch on fire from the flames shooting from the headers.

  • lol it look like santa's beard might light on fire if he gets to close to the exhaust

  • it must take 800 hp just to spin the super charger!

  • I remember someone telling me it takes 500-600hp, but they could have been talking out of their ass lol..

  • I read a list of dragster fun facts and it did indeed say a stock Hemi cannot make enough power to drive a dragster supercharger.

  • insane, but beautiful.

  • Very awesome my dad used to work as a starter at us martin 131 back in the late sixties/early seventies.

  • What a great era at Martin....It will always hold a special place in my heart. Hats off to your dad. Whatta cool gig.

  • That brings back the good 'ol days of 131 Dragway here in Martin, Michigan. The sights, the smells, the sounds, Ahhhhhhhhh The 70's: when you could go to the drags for less than 7 bucks and have enough money to eat and buy a few T-shirts. Jungle Jim, TV-Tommy Ivo, Don "The Snake" Prudhomme, The Swamp Rat, Burnout Bob, Hemis....Oh yea, the smell of Nitro & burnin' rubber....standing too close behind a jet car and almost becoming a crispy critter. Those were the daaaays - Edith Bunker

  • I mis-spent many weekends of my youth at 131...those shows John & Nancy put on in the 70's were amazing...Not to mention Mama Grivins "Sloppy Joes"...well, maybe we shouldnt mention them...

  • - - A friend of mine who knew Nancy's family would drive us to the races. Nancy always waved us through and never made us pay a dime. I will always be grateful to her and family for saving us hundreds of dollars: although we usually spent that money buying stuff anyway.

    - - I think they put something in the fuel, and on the tires, that MADE us spend money. IT'S A CONSPIRACY MAN!

    - - Now where did I put that Borg & Warner jacket?

  • to make nose picking web surfers ask stupid questions....

  • hey this looks like the engine in my honda civic! lol

  • If you want educational videos, turn on PBS.

  • haha!

  • HaHaHa!

    fucking dolt!

  • you have to be kidding us this is just to show how bad ass nitromethane dragsters are and was!1

  • ER..... listen to that engine....end of

  • I favorited this video just because of that guy's beard!!!!!!!!! Lol.....

  • That guy with the beard is playing a dangerous game, imagine if he lent in a bit more and got it caught in the blow belt!

  • that is absolutley beautiful nothing better than nitro slingshot dragsters

  • That old boy is lucky his beard didn't catch on fire! Haha!

  • i was thinking the same thing!

  • He almost got it caught in the blower belt!

  • i would pay to see his beard get caught in that blower belt!!!!lol

  • then you're a sick fothaf***er haha

  • Or getting fire from exhaust gases :))))))

  • is there a place to hang a piece of wood? i wanna roast some marshmallows on those manifolds :D

  • good god that old man must be deaf cause those things are extremely loud in person

  • that guy better watch his beard.. might catch it on fire haha.

  • put it this way they excelrates faster the space shuttle

  • srry im more of dirt bike guy but whats the diff between nitrous and this stuff

  • Nitrous Oxide is a gas but isn't flammable, all nitrous does is at high temps, such as in a engine, breaks down and delivers more oxygen to the combustion process, more oxygen=more power.

Nitromethane is a compound used for a fuel that takes less oxygen to burn than gasoline. It takes something like 13 times more air to burn a certain amount of gas (lets say 7ozs.) than it does to burn the same 7ozs. of nitro. Throw a supercharger on that and a ton of fuel and there is a ton of power.

  • he got burned 0:08

  • ohhh a hemi!

  • Jesus!! Hey ZZ top watch out the beard on the damper

  • what nitro % is it running on?

  • not to sure about this exact car but Top Fuel drag cars run 100%.

  • no they dont. current NHRA limit is now 90%, TF and AAFC are racing over 1000 ft instead of 1/4mile at the moment

  • and that is why the NHRA is lame. They even banned engines that run more than one camshaft. ANDRA all the way baby. Australia is allowing the advancement of Top Fuel Drag Racing.

  • maybe, but they also import yank AAFC drivers/cars just to run 4 sec AAFC et's

  • are pneumatic valves coming or is it banned?

  • They are only just moving on from more than one cam you'll have to give them time. Personally I would suggest Desmodromic valve actuation first.

  • yea! Desmodromic is the shit! forced valve systems have been around since the 50s i think.

and its still used i believe, in ducatis motogp bike.

  • Yeah, i like the idea. Its acually been around for alot longer than that. engineers have found industrial engines (Big ol diesel's and the type) that are around 100 to 115 or so years old that use a type of desmodromic actuation, but oddly they can't seem to find much documentation on the idea earlier that about 1920. They just have to reason that due to sircumstances valve springs just were to unreliable for their particular needs. oh and alot of ducati's wail out the desmo. Bam

  • cool but what you mean with wail out the desmo?

  • I just wish I could smell the NITRO thru my computer!

  • that guys beard almost caught on fire

  • people say exhaust flames are caused by unburnt fuel but i this case its caused by the shear compresion thease machines have the cylinders must be the size of dust bins :D its so fucking cool

  • It is unburned fuel, nitro burns slow, so the mixture is still burning as the exhaust valve opens.

  • actually, the compression is rather low, but you're right about the large chamber volume..

  • You can say it is unburnt fuel but when nitromethane burns it produces hydrogen gas and that also burns in the exhaust. Hydrogen does burn clear but it produces light when it burns so that's y you see it

  • You are right about that it does release hydrogen gas and burns it, But what's really cool is when a Top Fuel car launches under load the Exhaust is so hot, around the 4000 - 6000 degree Celsius point, that it Hydrolizes the moisture in the atmosphere and burns that oxygen and hydrogen too.

  • the fuel itself burns clear apparently, what you see as the flames coming out of the pipes is actually the hydrogen and oxygen in the atmosphere

  • actually those flames are from the combustion of the nitromethane. Because nitro is such a slow burning, slow expanding fuel, its still propogating when it is pushed out the exhaust port by the piston, hence the flames you see coming out the headers.

  • nitromethane burns clear, the flames are invisible, what you see is the atmosphere being burned by the heat of the nitromethane

  • The atmosphere doesn't burn.

The flame color yellow/orange comes from the carbon that's part of a hydrocarbon fuel, and is caused by unburned fuel that exits the exhaust (due to cam timing overlap) but is then ignited late.

Non-carbon combustibles (for example, hydrogen) have a colorless flame.

  • I dont know, having that beard around that supercharger pulley doesnt seem like a good idea lol.

  • yea i thought that same thing too

  • Why...???

Nitromethane is an otherwise usless industrial biproduct. When the dry lakes racers started to use it... it's only commercial use was... ( get this...) Drycleaning fluid.

THEY RAN THEIR LAKSTERS AND DRAGSTERS ON DRY CLEANING FLUID...!!!

  • So...break the land speed record AND do your dry cleaning, all in one shot! Someone should call Billy Mays. That would make a GREAT commercial.

  • Santa Claus in da place

  • I agree! We need more of this video. About 2 minutes of it would satisfy my need!

  • Talk about awesome. I did not know that Billy Gibbons was a Nitro Freak.

  • tis true

  • Santa should have his beard in a net, safety first.

  • fuckin eh thats what i was thinkin

  • afterall hes face is about a foot from the rubber lol

  • Damn-it, Not enough video. Nice rod, too bad the stars don't go to eleven.

  • Dude looks a little like ZZTop!

  • I'm just waiting for a dumb comment from an import retard.

  • Them import guys would wet themselves in one of these...I ran an injected Front Engined car back in the 80's and there is NO ride like it.
