@Adster2501 The little bit left over is the shield, it's supposed to mounted on the left arm.

Thing is, this is a model kit and not a toy. There are toy versions of the Macross fighters which I expect are a little more rugged than a 4500 yen Bandai transforming model kit - but most are still more like "high end display toys" than "play items".

Im saying that, most likely, it doesn't really take him 4 minutes to manipulate a transformer from vehicle to robot mode. He was going so slow because if he didn't, your limited human brain wouldn't be able to completely understand what is happening at all times. You would have to pause the video every 10 seconds or so.

@TeamGenesisUC This kit comes with static-pose hands. In fighter mode, the hands are flattened out, and they slide into a hollow in the shield. To lend a little bit of extra stability to the kit in fighter mode, the flattened-out hands for fighter mode are actually molded together as a single piece. You could probably cut the two apart, but there wouldn't be much point - it's not a hand pose you'd normally want.

Wow, what a messy transform. Totally structurally unstable (mass shifts would warp metal and destroy joints) in multiple points of the transform. The cockpit shift would leave the unit open to complete structural collapse with even the slightest mass twisting. On the other hand the Robotech unit does look mighty awesome after transform and both jet and robot look superb. The transitional stages are an engineering horror to even consider in real-world function.

Wow, this is just what I need, some retard making some gay little mechas (which is not their real name) that aren't even QUALIFIED to be robots. Real robots have no shape, are unpainted and don't jump around jetting and shooting like a schoolgirl at a 'Jonas Brothers' (eff them) concert.

Oh, and real robots WALK instead of JET. Something like in Chromehounds, which is WAAAY better than some gay robots that can actually SPEAK. What people think of mechs these days make my head hang in shame..

It's 'Yamato 1:60 Macross/ Robotech perfect transforming' toy-line. There's tons of other toys from Japan that was more complicated than this. But the new Hasbro's Transformers movie (TF2) Leader class Optimus Prime was quite a chalange also.

The industry has been making things like this far too easy, cutting corners everywhere, so that kids only need to move 3 pieces to, supposedly, have a completely different toy. I think for the work involved in transforming this toy, it completely payed off. Great Vid.
