Hey mongo, I just met him yesterday in a laundermat in Gaston SC.Very cool guy. He told me he is a sniper trainer and was indeed in Kuwait. Sid he trained all over the world, was in airborn also but now has a brace on his leg and is retired at 45. Seems quit happy, all he does is hunt and fish. If you want write me back I have his home #.
He's shooting a 5.56, which has very little recoil. For him to be able to shoot a moving clay with it, he's also quite skilled, and can no doubt control said recoil. Also, look what he does as he releases the clay, he centers the scope on it's planned trajectory, and follows it, firing at each in the same general point of it's arc. As for the 'shotgun,' look at the muzzle flash, ejecting shell casing, and haze of gas around the muzzle and ejection port. Trust me, he hit those.
very impressive, with a scope no less...i will give credit where its due, very fine display, but how much of it is based on knowing where the clay will be and reacting? im not disrespecting your skill, because engaging an airborne moving target with a scope is serious! but could you do this if you didnt know the area the clay was going to be in?
damn i always wanted to try that, just was always scared of where my bullet might land. nice shooting( by the way, not saying i would have been successful)
I would like to hear more about this sighting system. I currently use an EoTech and have been toying with the Horus Talon and even considering the Elcan SpecterDR but it's a bit pricey. Do you have a web site or any specs?
Remember the Clay Pigeon is flying through the air, when it travels, it is around a, 1 to 1 1/2 inch target on the move, look at the time bar & measure reaction time for aquire, identify, & engauge a single target. Think Multiple Targets & Multiple engaugments. A bad day at the shooting range is better than a good day at work.
Tom Knapp, who uses a 12 rgauge Benelli to shoot uses the tightest chokes he can find. The reason being is that when there are multiple targets in the air, one shot will only hit one of the targets.
Shooting the 108mm clay pigeon was quite impressive with a .223. I honestly thought this video was going to be crap prior to watching it. It is a different skill than shooting multiple clays with a shotgun, but I would not say one is easier than the other.
I grew up in oklahoma watching the great shooters like Tom Knapp & Gene Sears. They are the type of shooters that I can always learn from, like Doubbles or trips next time
i have a hard enough time hitting clays with a shotgun! excellent work!!

wow, being able to shoot a 5 inch disk with a .223 inch bullet is a lot more impressive than the wide spread of 12ga. very nice shooting
