  • Make that very happy that Irina won the Gold:) Tried to ammend my comment but youtube wouldn't allow it...

  • This is the best World's competiton in recent history....Irina's win in front of the home crowd and this wonderful program from Sasha....totally agree and am very happy that Irina won the gold but Sasha's (aka as Torino's Silver Belle) made the US proud that night...well, maybe not all Americans but for sure the ones who are glad to see honest judging and integrity being infused back into the sport! It is regaining credibility as a true sport....and this competition REALLY helped!

  • that was one of the most beautiful mistakes in ice skating i ve seen!

  • I'm 23. I just recently got into ice skating. Any chance I'll ever be able to do all that?

  • @Britney13Fan Oh yes you will and you can compete internationally like that in Adults category. But the competitions are not like Olympics and stuff, the highest competitins in that category is Worlds I think.

  • @Britney13Fan LOL no offense but wluu1 is completely incorrect.

Physically, it is realistic for you to expect to get consistent double jumps (except the axel), probably not triples. Unless you have extraordinary flexibility and core strength, I doubt you'll go beyond basic scratch, sit, and camel spins, but you'll still be able to do quite a bit of neat stuff. Good luck!

  • @Algorithm16 I agree with you it is almost impossible to do all this unless you have a lot of practice like she does and you are totally committed to it.

  • Lovely program in spite the very two slight mishaps.

  • gorgeous skating..thats all thats to it.

  • @Missy. OK time to move on. Your constant extreme opinions never hold water, given no one becomes an Olympian without heart and mental toughness. Seems you're just copy-pasting, nothing new, and maybe I'm falling into the same trap. I still don't get why you waste time in Sasha's video sites, replying to blind Sasha supporters, when you can be enjoying MK's so many exquisite programs, her ponche arabesque spirals, Russian splits, I-spin, perfect musicality, no one can match her beauty & ability.

  • @oreevas well said!

  • @oreevas I agree that it takes heart and mental toughness to become an Olympian...what I said is that Sasha lacked the heart and mental toughness to become a true champion. It's absolutely ridiculous that her fans suggest that she is superior to Michelle, when the truth is that Sasha isn't even as accomplished as Kimmie Meissner or Alissa Czinny. Yes she was a GORGEOUS artist, but the object of competitive skating is to win...and more is required to win than posture, line and flexibility.

  • @MissThingSings I respectively disagree with the belief that Sasha lacked the heart and mental toughness to become a true champion and your comment that she isn't even as accomplished as Kimmie Meissner or Alissa Czisny. I do not want to diminish the accomplishments of Kimmie and Alissa because I think both are terrific skaters and Alissa is the only one who comes close to Sasha's grace on ice. I suggest you look at their competitive records to compare their respective accomplishments.

  • @MissThingSings Their records- Sasha: 2 Olympics, silver and a 4th; US, 1 gold, 4 silver, 1 bronze, 1 - 4th; World, 2 silver, 1 bronze, 2 - 4th, GP series, 6 gold (inc. 1 GP final), 3 silver, 1 bronze. Alissa: No Olympics; US, 2 gold, 1 bronze; GP series, 4 gold (inc. 1 final), 2 silver, 3 bronze, 4 - 4th. Kimmie: 1 Olympic - 6th; World, 1 gold, 1 - 4th; US, 1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze; GP series, 1 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze. ALL have demonstrated the heart & mental toughness of true champions.

  • @teaprez Sorry, but Kimmie winning a world and national title, and Alissa having two national titles, makes them more accomplished than Sasha. The name of the game is winning, and it's really a shame that Sasha couldn't put the pieces together to win another major title.

  • @MissThingSings Well, I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on the definition of accomplished.

  • @oreevas Who cares if no one could match Sasha's beauty? Competitive skating is not a beauty contest, dear...to be a champion you actually have to land jumps and stay upright. Sasha failed to become a true champion because she was one dimensional and mentally fragile. She's better off in ice shows where style is more important that substance. I think it's terrible that her so called "fans" have to distort facts and rewrite history in order to accept her! How insulting!

  • She make me wanna take up skating too!

  • Comment removed

  • Everything she does is amazing! Even her falls! Ohmygosh! I SO want to meet her one day! Goodness, Sasha, great height, and distance on jumps, like, 20 revolution spins! Best skater that has ever been!

  • shes my inspiration! shes amazing!! (: i wanna be just like her one day :D

  • Ice dancing has progressed lately, allowing for more flexiblility in artistry and interpretation. Isn't the greater good to entertain and touch the audience? I say even rid all the varieties in triples. 3 rotations in the air is what we want to see. Axles are different. Skating has been focused on technical elements for too long. Might as well set up hurdles and boxes on the ice, and have skater jump over them. And leave the skating to real artists like a Sasha Cohen.

  • My issue with Missy, who's trolling around most Sasha videos, is her constant contempt and discrediting of Sasha. This girl gave tireless hours of training and prep to bring beautiful art to us. Pushing human bounds have caused inconsistencies. As many have said, no one skates like her, so there's some room to argue that she deserved more wins despite her mistakes. Give me a link to one program by another skater that comes close to her tech ability, choreography, and interpretation.

  • @oreevas You can make all of the excuses you want, but the FACT is that Sasha Cohen went her entire career being unable to skate clean programs when it mattered most. First her fans claimed that she didn't win because the judges favored Michelle...then, with Michelle out of the picture, Sasha couldn't even beat Kimmie Meissner for a world title. Sasha was a GORGEOUS artist but she lacked the heart and mental toughness of a true champion..she lost because she was one dimensional and erratic.

  • if every skater had two clean programs. i bet she would've won everything.

  • WOW. You guys can be bitchy about two of the best ladies skaters ever to come out of the USA in the past 20 years. I liked BOTH Sasha Cohen AND Michelle Kwan (Slutskya too). They each brought something different to skating and left their mark. I think many people WANTED Sasha to win, she certainly had it all, but I can't remember one World's where she actually skated two programs together cleanly. If she had she would have won, and probably won 2006 Olympics too. But she sadly didn't.

  • Both Michelle Kwan and Sasha Cohen are great skaters. Why compare, it's all in the past

  • @Missy. On the same token, please have MK fix her ugly layback (should be a deduction every time), horrible posture, lack of foot work, lack of musicality, the list goes on and on. You know why figure skating is so boring now? Cuz of people and judges like you, who want boring same-old elements over and over, with zero sense of style and aesthetics. No artistic sense whatsoever. I'll bet you adore Flatt also. My goodness... Pls keep watching women's mud wrestling or something.

  • @oreevas I understand that being a Sasha fan you have to downplay the importance of winning, since she rarely ever did, but Michelle's layback, posture and musicality managed to earn 9 national and 5 world titles =)

  • @oreevas Amen to that!!!!

  • @MissThingSings>>>go FUCK yourself!!! I believe sasha to be one of the most enjoyable to watch >>very flexible fast and interesting. Her career is centainly not disappointing you critical bitch!

  • @pelicanus11 I mean, really....stop trying to get attention by behaving like common trash. The fact that you cannot express yourself without resorting to profanity speaks to your ignorance...grow up. I actually agree with you that Sasha is flexible, fast and interesting. But flexibility, speed and interest does not make a champion, results do. Sasha could never put it together, and she rarely ever skated cleanly. She was a great artist but she was not a true champion. Too mentally fragile...

  • @allenglandlawns. When she's performing, you almost don't want to bat an eye in the fear of missing something exquisite, that's how much attention she put into most of her performances. If I put that much dedication and effort into choreographing stand-out programs, and watched the other garbage winning on consistent ugly bent-back jumps alone, I'd be ticked off, but what can you do in a dishonest system...?

  • @oreevas What can you do in a "dishonest" system? Fix your flutz, get therapy to fix your head and skate two programs without falling or popping/falling so that your fans have justifiable reasons to blame the system for your failures. If you fall in every competition you have no right to whine...

  • @Missy. Hopefully, you will too someday and learn to appreciate what Sasha left behind. Yes, winning is nice, but what has Kwan left behind? A teenage skater told me the other day, she wants to skate like Sasha. Mao Asada’s idol was Sasha. So many trying to follow in her foot steps. That’s power. That’s legacy. Not etched in records, but in generations and generations to come. Meanwhile, you can continue visiting Sasha’s youtube sites and enjoy her glorious performances. I'm not going to Kwan's.

  • @Missy. Btw you can even tell from the commentators’ tones, they were all rooting for Sasha to win more, because they knew nobody skated like her and she was most often deserving. Clean 2002 cup of Russia and Skate America, btw. She should’ve one at least one worlds and more nationals. As mentioned, I used to be a Kwan fan, didn’t think much of Sasha b4, seeing her as only inconsistent. I’ve grown some since, I saw her perform live, and now see her in a different light...

  • @oreevas Deserving??? This is where Sasha's fans sound like fools. Competition is not about DESERVING! GEEZ! A skater who went her entire career rarely ever being able to skate cleanly when it counted does not DESERVE to win anything!!! In fact, she deserved to lose! If you can't put it all together you don't get brownie points just because your posture is perfect! Shoulda, coulda, woulda...the bottom line is that Sasha's career was one of disappointment and potential unrealized.

  • @Missy. We’re running in circles, it’s getting dull. Seems Kwan fans are insecure or something, often trolling in Sasha’s sites. Rarely see Sasha fans trolling Kwan’s youtube sites, prolly cuz they can’t stomach the blatantly boring, ugly performances. Yes, she won more medals. And Sasha won far far more hearts of people. We’ll leave it at that...

  • @oreevas I love how Sasha's fans are able to count hearts now lol...Michelle certainly didn't bore all of those judges who awarded her 9 national and 5 world titles...by the same token, Sasha's artistry didn't excite them enough to overlook her flutzing, popping and falling (in just about every program, in every competition.) I think Sasha was a gorgeous skater..said it many times. However, she is better suited for professional ice shows due to her inability to execute under pressure.

  • @Missy...far more. 2000 Nationals no doubt. Bronze, at least, in 2002 Olympics. She was often undermarked. When she came onto the scene, the judges must've panicked. How can we fairly judge this phenom who performs like no other? Even the new system didn't do her justice. I suppose certain dominance is just too hard to officiate, like MJ and Shaq in basketball. Sasha should've often been afforded at least 2 falls and still won most of her competitions.

  • @oreevas Sasha SHOULD have won more? How on earth can you say that when she couldn't ever skate two clean programs in the same competition? How do judges reward a skater who couldn't even land the most basic jumps with any amount of consistency? Even Kimmie Meissner managed to win a world title! You are delusional! You can spout off all of the conspiracy theories you desire, but facts don't disappear just because you don't like them!

  • @oreevas You are right on the money. Sasha WAS robbed at 2000 nats AND SLC. Ripped off for mediocre Michelle, who was even MORE messy, to tout another record to her frufru collection. Sasha is a beautiful skater and honest athlete... qualities Shelly Kwan never managed to hold. But anyway, it's too bad Sasha's medal record never matched her beautiful skating and talent, but she can hold her head up high in knowing she respected herself and the sport like a champion.

  • @allenglandlawns AKA Getrealandsee...I absolutely agree that it is too bad that Sasha's medal record never matched up her talent. Unfortunately, in competition more is required to be a champion than great posture and line. Sasha was a great artist, Michelle was a great champion!!!

  • @Missy. Peggy and others often said she is extraordinary. That word and 1D don't go together. Crack open a dictionary and look for another word. If anything, how you judge figure skating is sadly 1D. For some sports, winning medals is not the end all, especially for something as artistic as figure skating. Many top skater are emulating Sasha, and not her uninspiring peers. She alone took it to whole another level that to this day can't be matched. And even as for winning, she should've won...

  • @oreevas You need much more than a dictionary if you think Peggy said Sasha's ability to skate two clean programs back to back was extraordinary...or that Sasha's ability to land jumps was extraordinary...or that Sasha's mental toughness was extraordinary...or that Sasha's ability to win major titles was extraordinary. Sasha was an extraordinary artist, but more is required to be a true champion than posture and line. Sasha had artistry and nothing else..that is one dimensional 101.

  • @oreevas I think it's great that people emulate Sasha, but that doesn't change the fact that she was a one dimensional skater. The purpose of competition is to win, otherwise they would not judge, score and award medals. I understand that you don't like the fact that Sasha underachieved, but please let's not rewrite the sport of figure skating just to cover up Sasha's profound weaknesses. She was more style than substance...a beautiful skater but not a true champion.

  • I think when you have an audience cheering you on, that it gives her more confidence and that makes her have a better performance!

  • @Missy. Finally, she was not dumb by not holding back, though it cost her some medals. By not holding back, she was extraordinary, as the commentators claimed so many times. That made her special and helped get her off-ice gigs, that others can only dream of. And that's why she is most always pictured in the center of all SOI brochures. That's who most people pay to see. Not your favorites, who'd be pictured in the corner. So, Sasha did quite well for herself so far. Smart moves...

  • @oreevas LOL..if the purpose of competition is to win, it certainly is dumb not to hold back if that will enable you to win!!! Shizuka did this in the LP at Torino..she was smart enough to hold back and not take unnecessary risks because the purpose of going to the olympics is to win. I don't know why Sasha's fans have such a difficult time accepting her for what she is. The excuses are truly ridiculous...yes, she was a beautiful skater, but she was also the most inconsistent skater in history.

  • @Missy ...unlike some of her peers. Really, I'm sure it took all but a couple of days for Sasha's peers to choreograph their programs, design their clothing, etc. The subparness is so evident. Unlike the seriousness Sasha put in her planning on every detail. That is why most of her performances are enduring and touching, while the "others" are just boring acts, though yawningly consistent. Sasha fans mostly don't bother watching the "others". &even you still can't help but coming back for more.

  • @oreevas What Sasha's peers lacked in fashion sense and choreography they more than made up for with clean programs and trophy cases overflowing with bling. Your comments are the perfect example of why Sasha never became a champion...she cared more about looking good than landing jumps. Instead of flipping the pages of Vogue she should have been practicing her flutz. You can barely find a video of Sasha where the commentators aren't talking about a fall, pop or meltdown. That = one dimensional.

  • @Missy. All of us, including you, know deep inside she is not 1 dim. You can't beat that lie detector. You just go on enjoying Kimmie and whomevers' videos, and Sasha fans will keep enjoying her perfectly choreographed art. What I used to think were great, like MK and KY, I cannot stomach their subpar positions and off-music boring acts. The comparison with Sasha just isn't fair I guess. Also, the gymnastics background was a huge plus for Sasha. But what's more, she gave her craft her all...

  • @oreevas Sasha was absolutely one dimensional...beautiful artist for sure, but she could not jump to save her life. You don't like it, but the fact is that in COMPETITION it is not enough to be a great artist. COMPETITION is not just about choreography and posture...it is a combination of artistry and athleticism. If all you care about are positions and line, then Sasha is the perfect fit for you. She is not a champion and her career is one of tremendous disappointment...

  • @Missy. Lastly, your choice of words and descriptions are off base, so although you're entitled to your opinions, you are losing credibility completely. Why don't you tell Dick Button, Peggy, Scott, the oficionados, that Sasha is overrated and 1-dimensional. Guaranteed, everyone will laugh in your face. So, I'd tone down the rhetoric if you want to be taken seriously.

  • @oreevas Peggy Fleming herself is on one of Sasha's videos making the point that she is not the whole package. Dick Button is on countless Sasha videos talking about her inability to focus and land jumps. IF you are simply talking about artistry, then Sasha is in a rare class...but overall, Sasha is one dimensional and overrated, and overall is what matters most. Even Kimmie Meissner managed to win a world title! In fact, I think she beat Sasha to win it...

  • @Missy. ...she didn't. And I'm glad she never compromised in that regard and always pursued perfection, even if that led to imperfections. I suppose there are limits to what the human body can do for 3,4 minutes, over a long career, shouldering injuries. So why are you so miffed? You just hate Sasha? Offended by people dissing your favorite skater(s)? My adoration for Sasha may seem over-the-top, but I think I still have perspective. Not so sure about you. Maybe we both need a chill pill.

  • @oreevas I think it was really dumb of her not to pull back a bit...the point of competition is to give yourself the best chance to win. Something that means toning it down and being ultra conservative...champions know this.

  • @Missy. So you admit she is beautiful. Prolly why you prowl around so many of her videos. Based on competitive results, her stardom may be somewhat overrated, but her skills were far from overrated. Judging is so messed up in this so-called sport anyway. Sasha prolly was part of the reason the system even had to be changed. Now, I'll bet she could've been a stronger competitor if she elected to hunch her back on her landings, cheat on the ride out, neglect the extensions like so many, but...

  • @oreevas I have always admitted that she was a beautiful skater..just because I criticize her doesn't mean I can't give credit where it is due. Likewise, I have been critical of my favorite skater. It's just ridiculous when her fans ignore the elephant in the room: Sasha was inferior mentally and technically (jumps), two MAJOR components needed to be a true champion. She was one of the most inconsistent skaters in history. I don't think she ever skated two clean programs in a major competition..

  • @oreevas ..without the ability to land jumps, and with no mental toughness, there was no way for Sasha to be a true champion under any system. IF she had been able to address those two problems she would have been practically unbeatable...but that was not the case and it really is foolish for pretend otherwise...

  • ...bash Sasha. I'm aghast toward their sense of beauty and aesthetics. Are chimps typing here? No, Sasha doesn't always have perfect techniques on her jumps and she fell often. But is that all you can criticize about? The jumps? Btw, when landed them, nobody had a prettier ride out and posture. No, she didn't win the big "sports" awards, but she left so much more beautiful work of art than any skater. She never compromised on the art, always pushing the limits, which caused the mistakes.nuf said

  • @oreevas Even a chimp would know the difference between style and substance. Nothing is more beautiful than seeing an athlete perform brilliantly and without flaw -both artistically and technically- under tremendous pressure. Sasha's programs were most often disrupted by horrific falls. In competition, if you crash, pop and bobble throughout the entire program you have failed...pretty posture without jumps is for Ice Capades, not competitive figure skating. Sasha was beautiful but overrated.

  • @allSashabashers. Again, have Sasha and any other skater perform the same program--same music, same elements. Sasha would put any skater to shame. Others couldn't do half of her moves anyway. Even if Sasha were to fall on jumps, she'd still make the other skaters look bad. Have 10 non-skating fans judge them. Majority would vote Sasha to be better 100% of the time. Sorry, brilliance is obvious to both the common and not-so-common. Except for the very select few bashers who continue to...

  • @oreevas Sasha is not in the business of skating the same elements to the same music as other competitors and doing it better, she is in the business of competing against the best skaters in the world under pressure for major titles. Despite being talented and artistically gifted, she failed the majority of the time. The fact that you would suggest having non skating fans judge her talents speaks volumes...when people who truly know skating judge Sasha it's clear that she is one dimensional.

  • @oreevas "Brilliance" is not just measured by artistry, otherwise there would be no need to jump. You cannot dissect the sport to make it a perfect fit for Sasha's strengths...despite her artistic gifts she had tremendous flaws, both technically and mentally, which resulted in a career of disappointments. Competition is about results, not just looking pretty. Sasha was not the complete package, and telling that truth does not make someone a "basher"

  • That final spin sequence is as difficult and at the same time beautiful as you will ever see in skating.

  • @HowsaBowsaYowsa Indeed, Sasha's artistry is unmatched and her skating....wow always so fresh and so darn beautiful. She is underrated and just oozes out talent...enough to give transplants...just WOW!

  • @allenglandlawns AKA Getrealandsee, etc... Sasha Cohen underrated? Serious LOL! She went her entire career unable to skate cleanly on the big occasions, choking at just about every event she entered, and she's underrated???? Sasha Cohen is OVERRATED. She was a beautiful artist for sure, but the biggest choker in history. Where did she finish on that "greatest skater of all-time" list you touted?????? lol

  • Love this dress<3 LoveHer!! She's just amazing.

  • It does not get any better than this, folks. Sasha is the absolute best of all time. All Time. The master skater of the new millennium.

  • she is one of the Best spinners in America!

  • beautiful dress and skating, I love her :)

  • Like her or not - this girl has style - always a beautiful bodyline, always a beautiful costume, and a wonderful actress on the ice - I don't like her jumping technique - she tends to "hammer toe" her jumps but it's a shame she never took the top spot at worlds.

  • Sasha is so graceful that even that triple flip was gorgeous to see...maybe not so point worthy but she didn't miss a beat. It could have been a planned move with the way she handled it!

  • If only i could skate as good as her. She is the most beautiful skater i've ever seen. Is she skating this season?

PS: It's either FS(free skate) or LP(long program) not FP. I'm never seen it abbreviated like that before. I have heard some people call it a free program but i've never seen anyone abbreviate it like that.

  • what a beautiful moment 4:26 is

  • I think it really took Cohen a while to find the style that suited her best - This music, costuming and choreography suit her much better than her earlier routines which, in my opinion, utilized music, costuming and choreography that was too harsh - Lovely, feminine music, costuming, and choreography such as this suit her so well.

  • @Chutson353 well...at the beginning she was 17-18 and pretty much wanted to be the opposite of (and I'm quoting her)"pretty skaters in pink dresses trying to do their best"....

I mean she just simply grew up I guess (though I prefer Malaguena and Rachmaninov so much more than this...)

What I liked in Sasha was character and personality. She was special. And this music and the whole coreography is common and nothing special.

Though she still makes it sparkle:D

  • I feel like this whole season nothing really worked that well...it seemed to me as if she was just holing her breath for 2006

  • do u have the qualifying too?

  • @1203456789 No sorry

  • OM! that is just so goood!!!!

WTF, who says that Yu Na kim is the first woman to get over 200 points?

    Sasha Got 224.61!

Why does they say that yu na is the first?

  • @1995figureskater That includes the qualifying round score, I think so it was from three segments rather than two

  • @1995figureskater she has over 200 because back in 2005 you had to do a qualifying round which was worth about 30marks... so thats why...

  • Ez a csaj sajna csak Marine Corp. hapsikkal kamatyol.

  • Thanks for sharing. I would have given Cohen the gold due to overall performance from Qualification, SP, and LP.

  • oh my god her dress is marvelous!!

  • It really is! :)

  • Oh my goodness that spiral...

  • @RandomMillie1991 Agreed! By far the best and simply head and shoulders above the rest =)

  • so amazing..thanks for sharing!!

  • Do you have Kwan's 05 LP

  • No sorry

  • @Icedancetwiz This is a great video and thank you for posting it.Isn't it odd that kwan's lp/fp/ whatever is nowhere to be found on youtube...probably not good for her ego. Anyway, this is wonderful and Sasha did her country proud!!!!
