its probably immensely difficult to play, but the best bits were when you didnt distort the rythm at all... personally, i thought it sounded horrible =/
@haneyenah that's because probably you were looking for a maple leaf rag standard version and this is not... It's a jazz player playing a tune, not an executor merely reproducing the score...
He's a genius!! He's trying to recontextualize ragtime with lot's of syncopated rhythms mixed with little spruces of jazz styles from different periods. Very interesting.

Good iterpetation but... it sounds horrible man... youve just butchered one of the best songs in music history! Its sounds nothing like the maple leaf rag.
I am not sure why people get their panties in a wad - I am certain this fella can play the tune as written but why not put a modern jazz spin on it. It's not a freakin' felony.
I am guessing this was performed in Italy. An american tune, played on an american piano, played in an alternate american style, in Italy, possibly by an Italian (though profile claims american). That's pretty cool.
Amazing! you are a very sensitive and skillfull musician.I think Scott Joplin would be very happy to hear this incredible perfomance of his famous Maple Leaf rag.
was not what i expected! really amazing!

Its good, but when people post these type of videos, why don't they just say Maple leaf rag with improvisations?
Mcsquishy21 1 year ago
@Mcsquishy21 Well isn't exactly that... is a personal version of the tune played by a great italian jazz player, Stefano Bollani...

Without ragtime there wouldn't be jazz. The sound of the Maple Leaf Rag isn't even really present in this bizarre interpretation.

It got better towards the end, when it was closer to the original.

Stop playing with the pedals and play it properly, I see what you're trying to do, but it sounds awful compared to the original

Ciao
