  • can you do a fps tutorial just on the basics of the python and animation? many people want a decent fps tutorial. i have the modelling skills i just don't know the technical stuff behind any games other than a simple maze game or platform game

  • @collin4206 There's a lot of helpful tutorials already. The best thing you can do is find out for yourself since a lot of this stuffed is simply found by trying out new things. Sorry!

  • @MockingBirdZA Um, you shouldn't parent the empty that fires the rounds to the gun that animates. My rig includes a set of empties (for walking, shooting, ect.) That all connect to a parent.

  • @MockingBirdZA You bake the AO to a texture. Go to the render panel, go to bake, and select AO.

  • hey i know this isn't a realistic fps (probably a sci-fi?) but i think the lens flare is a little much. If he were a person it wouldn't be like that if you saw it through your eyes :? just sayin

  • @d3sertst0rm It's really intense at the moment because there's no influence on its visibility. I turned control off for testing purposes. It won't always be right in your face at full intensity.

  • how do you come up with the ideas for the details of the vehicle Is there somewere you read to get better ideas for what to add or something ?

  • @merccc1 Well, I came up with all the models straight from my imagination. No references on any of them. I say, know what you want to make whether it's a truck, car, building, or barrel, and work until it's how you pictured it in your head. References kill your creativity because you end up making what you are referencing instead of what you want.

  • good luck with it - if you're going to develop this seriously, I would suggest having a bit less recoil with the firing animation (the weapon clips into the screen when aiming), and editing the mask on the screen to be a bit less bulky, imo it would annnoy people while playing.

  • @thevladdo Thanks. I will make two variations of the recoil for hip fire and iron site. The one you see here is an intense recoil animation to make it noticeable from the hip. The random recoil spread and anim will still be there, but the gun rock back animation with vary. The clip occurs because of an issue with the camera distance clip which I will try to figure out soon so they mask overlay has to be a bigger distance than I'd want from the camera.

  • @thevladdo The rifle is very close because I don't want it clipping into the walls. There's an animation that realistically presses the gun against the wall instead of going straight in. I like the hud but it is bound to change. I'm not developing this game seriously as it's almost practice for modeling and texturing.

  • @brokpowell Yeah, there's going to be a second animation for first person. The real recoil is different than the animation.

  • @amuddypizza Thanks! The echo is just the normal gun shot edited in Audacity with an echo effect. It plays when the empty has a ray to something above it instead of the normal gun shot.

  • @Tinak00777 Thank you! The rain is really simple. Empties are scattered all around the player (in close proximity) and a central empty with a ray triggers it when nothing it above it. The rain falls down and when the player presses any of the movement keys, the rain drops parent to the player.

  • Is there a difference on the sound when you put your helmet on or off?

    This is nice how did you made the bobbing effect?

  • @Wilber719 Didn't think to do a difference with the helmet on or off. I'll do that now. Well, the "bobbing" is just a slow parent.
