hey guys! im from a dance team in AHA section (not mentioning which one sorry!) but i think this was an awesome dance, im really suprised you didn't make it to finals. but awesome job girls!

I was so sad when AHA didn't make it to finals. I wasn't a dancing up there just watching but I still wanted to cry for you guys! I did pre-rankings on my own before state based on section placements and what i've seen on YT, and I put you guys as 3rd! I love you guys! Hope next year goes better! I'll be rooting for you!

wow this dance is really cool! sweet costumes. and that person thinks you shouldnt walk ? how else would you get there? skip or crawl? yeah that would look nice. and for being a judge you would think shes seen other people do facials but i guess not. thats so cool you got 10 for presentation. good job this is a sweet dance i hope you did good!!

Well, since you must not dance, I won't enlighten you on the MILLIONS of traveling moves a team can do to get from formation to formation, "just walking" gets really boring.

As for the facials, yes teams do facials but GOOD teams choreograph them into their dance so it is UNIFORM. One girl opening her mouth and looking like she got a shocked is not good presentation when the rest of her team is just smiling, and it doesn't warrant a 10. Too many unwarranted 10s from one judge will not get many jobs in her future. All 10s across the board, keep it in, but most judges don't like screaming on the floor.

actually i've heard straight up from judges that they like enthusiasm and faces.they think smiling is boring. and as for the screaming..most judges don't mind it because it reflects the energy coming from the team

LOL, I can GUARANTEE, you never heard anything "straight up" from the judges considering they would NEVER talk to any of the coaches or the dancers about their dance. You can project energy without screaming every 5 minutes about it, and only one girl out of 30 opening her mouth doesn't show much unity. If you have questions about that, have your coach bring it up at the next rules meeting.

I love how 16 year olds say "most judges think" when they are talking to judges, what a hoot!

Judges don't talk directly but some may forget to keep comments to themselves, especially when some schools provide the extra personal (tabulators and kick counters) at invites. These extras are right in the judges room and can hear everything they say, dance related or not.

Judges DO NOT discuss anything "dance team related" unless JAM trained personnel are in the room. That is rule #1. If you did hear something I can guarantee it was not said by "trained" judges. It was probably staff working the meet or a parent or something but not trained judges. JAM judges are very professional and well trained not to say a word. I'm not sure why people think the opposite, or want to think the worst to the judges. We DO want the most deserving team to win.

I think they had great uniforms and used them well. I like how they used angles, that looks really great. I also like how the used levels and the floor (rolling around and such) I am really tired of all the walking around everyone does, not just AHA but most of MN, they really need to changed up the way the get to their formations. The one thing that really bothers me was their kicks, they were really low, esp their opens. I hope it was just that day. AHA normally has high kicks.

This is a good dance. I get lost in the costume sometimes..

Maybe a different costume would bring out the precision more.

Definitely surprised I haven't seen more 1st places out of this group.

This may sound harsh but, if you want you open your mouths on the floor, try out for cheerleading, otherwise just smile and keep your mouths shut. I agree the Sparta thing is weird.

In my 15 years of judging and 6 years at state; have I never (in a post meet conference) seen a judge give a 10 in presentation. Most judges hate yelling on the floor and say so at the end of the meet. Use it if you want. I'm just stating my opinion.

If the 10 in presentation happened this year, I'm sure it will be discussed at the judges meeting next fall.
