  • This waltz is pure life. Sometimes major, sometimes minor. Eternal.

  • This is the greatest waltz ever!

  • hmmhat einer dem Willen mich von meiner dauer einsamkeit zu retten

  • The most important photograph ever taken is the one showing tiny blue planet Earth in the void of space. This lovely melody comes from Earth, a beautiful contribution a human being. That way we can all be proud of Mr.Ivanovici and Mr. Chuck Berry and Mr. J. S. Bach

  • all u must hear the lonly shepard. Amzaing Romania

  • Actually, Iosif Ivanovici was baptised as Yovan Ivanovich. He was born in Temishvar to Serbian parents.

  • And what's your point? Nikola Tesla was born to Vlach//Romanian parents as well, but he is known to be Serbian.

  • I'm from Montenegro.....This is veru gooood waltz. One of the best in the world for sure

  • Definitely, one of the most beautiful and joyful waltzes ever. Thanks Romania for giving such a gift to the world!!!

  • It makes proud to be a dark haired male - this song is so wonderful!

And because I am a dark haired male just like the author, I feel that I have somehow contributed to this masterpiece and will post comments here just to satisfy my pride

  • I'm proud to be Romanian !!! I love this wonderful Romanian waltz !

  • I agree, it is the most beautiful version of this waltz I have ever heard. It was also my mothers favorite.

  • he was a human who made great music. not romanian or austrian or european or anything of that sort, plain and simple, a human.

  • On the contrary, it has everything to do with Romania. The composer was Romanian, the lyrics are in Romanian, even the feeling is Romanian. You cannot truly understand it if you don't have a Romanian heart. You are a clueless bastard.

  • Well that is the case, and you can do nothing about it. About the last part of your comment only proves that you're not only an ignorant peasant, but also a lowlife douchebag.

  • beautiful song---it is in an Older Beginner piano book I'm looking through now---very fun to play on piano!

  • The most beautiful waltz ever...Lovely

  • This is delightful music! Thank you very much for posting and enabling us to enjoy this melody.

  • Will Romania ever regains it´s culture back from the ignorants? I dont think so. Sadly.

  • He looks awesome on that painting like a cool gentleman, but a bit snobbish

  • Hi

Can somebody tell me who is the present owner of the rights of this wonderful song?

  • I think it belongs to humanity, Ion died a long time ago.

  • I am Part Romanian and I am getting Married yay!!! I am also Austro-Hungarian Russian and Polish. I Proposed to my GF with the Al Jolson Version.

  • best Serbian composer ever ! even dough he lived in Romania he has made some impact to Serbian music in 20th century ! this was even used in a Great film of Emir Kusturica "father on the buisnes trip "

  • Who? Who are you reffering to?

  • Jovan Ivanovic, the composer of this piece.

  • Actually he lived most of his life in my hometown Galati where he was the head of the militay orchestra here he composed the song since Galati is on the bank of the Danube. There are a lot of wrong datas on the web about him i doubt even that he was born in Timisoara, why he would have emigrated into Romania? I think there is no more that speculations based on a coincidence of names. You can find on the web even that he was born in Alba Iulia so nothing is certain even about the date of birth.

  • so sweet lovely adorable music , thank you so much for posting such lovely romantic music , god bless with my best wish

  • Sounds like you would use this in a dance

  • That is because it is a walz^^ 3/4 rhythm

  • Close your eyes and listen to this music ....

you are in paradise ... the only existing !!!

  • I Love You Romania......

  • You will love Romania more if you will listen also ,,Ciprian Porumbescu - Balada".I wait for your opinion.

  • Deutchland~Ostreich ~Yugoslav ~Romania

  • He was a Serb, born in Austrohungary, present day Romania

  • As a last name Ivanovici might sound Serb (somehow) but this time is not the case.

To make a long story short, he was the Romanian Navy Band Leader for most of his carrier and at the end of his life (1902) he was Chief Inspector of all Romanian Military Bands. These are real facts easy to check. Despite the fact that Yugoslavia, Former Yugo and Serb peoples had always ONLY GOOD relation with Romania, only a kid can believe that in 19th Century globalization was an option

    My best to you!

  • Serbs and Romanians always had good relation that is true ! I think that Romanians are the only nation witch didn't fought a war against Serbia in the Balkans . Still i think the composer's name was Jovan Ivanovic (that's on serbian ) lon ivanovici ( romanian) he did live whole his life in romania (think he was born in Timisoara witch had lot's of Serbs and still has but not in that number's as in past (lots of them left douring Causescu period ) ! best regards !

  • This is REAL MUSIC !

  • the waves of a genious composer.............

  • Starts excrusiatingly like Bruckner's 4th Symphony....7th bar should go back to a Eb Major chord though

  • Beautiful composition, and to think that a Romanian composed that beautiful piece of music. Very enchanting music indeed.

  • It's hard to imagine but apparently this tune is very popular amongst the ghost's at bobby mackie's Music world. I think this tune is quite interesting it really relaxes me it could be quite possibly the same way for the ghosts at Bobby Mackie's

  • Beautiful and Powerful piece!

  • That waltz played on the wedding of my parents as their first dance together in marriage...I want it on my wedding as well! :) Enchanting, don't you think?! :)

  • Bravissimo!

  • Absolutely fantastic! Here I am sitting in my home office in Fish Hoek South Africa (worldcup 2010!) and I am in a total dream world! What would we have done without this beautiful compositions?

  • sublim,splendid,unic...

  • I would really like to dance my first dance with my would-be husband to this music on the day of my wedding...... :):)

  • Beautifully composed and beautifully played; what more could anyone want? Thanks.

  • I hear it almost every week in the underground, congrats to the romanian musicians here in madrid, they play fantastic.

  • beautiful! that's Johann Strauss jr. in the picture

  • es la melodia mas hermosa que he oido...

  • amO esa melOdiia!! miiau lO mjOr

  • GRANDISSIMO

  • nimeni si niciodata nu o sa mai asculte o melodie mai frumoasa ca asta!

  • Great and Lovely thanks.

  • well hear it once again does it sound like ghosts to you?

Do you even hear something?why did he write it down?why do other people sing it after 200 years? No one will compose as good as european do

  • It's definitely good music...but you should travel more and listen to the music of other regions. They're as beautiful as any compositions. This music belongs to humanity. Please let go of our nationalistic provincialism and reunite with all humanity.

  • Wonderful. May I suggest you add the 2 tags Ion Ivanovici to assist people who may be searching for this composer.

  • Me enternece hasta las lagrimas. Muchas gracias.

  • I do firmly believe that the MOST BEAUTIFUL PART of DANUBE is in ROMANIA, as Ion Ivanovici majestically described IT unprecedentedly. Its WAVES have gone around the Globe. It Reminds me "God Made The Beautiful Earth For Our Home." Its Magic SOUNDS heal the Hopeless to further Revive in This Beautiful World. My heart senses THEM throughout. This IS Undoubtedly the Best Piece of Music from ROMANIA to the Whole World. Many, many Thanks to jackbauerremy for Your very, very Precious Presentation.

  • "Barca pe valuri pluteşte uşor

Dar cine îngîna un cîntec de dor..."

That was a very nice thing to say, YBP. Thank you. :) Greetings from Romania.

  • I want to dance this waltz in a ballroom someday.

  • ok i found the correct title.

00:00-2:38 - Ion Ivanovici - The Waves of the Danube

2:38-3:50 - Franz Lehar - Liebe, du Himmel auf Erden

  • Part 1: 0:19 - 2:38 Ivanovici yes ?

    Part 2: 2:38 - 3:50 J.Strauss yes ?

    Beautiful !

  • So So So amazing!

  • i'M Fuckin scared, I'm headed to Bob mackeys, this still isnt the song on there though

  • omfg it so right i heard it on ghost adevntures its fucked up

  • i was watching Ghost Adventures i think thats what it was called on the Travel Channel, and they said the ghost's would play that song on the old Jukebox.

  • U saw it too!? WOW!

  • ya, it was cool, i like that show, its better than the other ghost hunting shows, this one is INTENCE!

  • The ghosts have good taste. LOL.

  • It appears that the mixup is this. Ivanovici did produce this melody for "On the waves of the Danube"

Later on words where added to the melody and it became known as the "Anniversary Waltz"

Strauss comes in because the Johann Strauss Society picked up on this and started playing it with its Orchestra. From what I have seen the society credits Ivanovici correctly, however the name of the orchestra causes confusion in the minds of many as to the identity of the actual composer.

  • Beautiful... thanks for sharing it!

  • The beginning reminds me Bruckner's Symphony No.4, 1st Mvmt:

    watch?v=5j_ZboDt61c

    Thanks for the video!

  • I guess the reason why this track is always called "Anniversary waltz" is that it appears somewhere in a movie. Further André Rieu confuses with that track on his CD, same title.

In fact, as stated below, it's the "Donauwellen Waltz" by Ivanovici and then, at 2:38, it's "Liebe, du Himmel auf Erden" by Franz Lehar. Few people are aware of it...

  • thank you very much for posting this. My gran used to sing this to me and it brings back wondrful memories even when she couldn't remember all of the words. xx

  • The Anniversary Song, also known as "The Waves of the Danube"was written by Ion Ivanovici(born 1845 in Timişoara, died in September 28, 1902)

  • I am sorry but this "Anniversary Waltz" as you call it hasn't been composed by J. Strauss. This melody is called "Donauwellen" from Ivan Ivanovici .. as far as I know

  • That is correct. Just search for "Ivanovici" on Wikipedia. You will find there a link.

  • One of my favorites, thanks for the uplode.

  • Excellent!

  • thanx for the download .....ye ok darling coming back to bed ..sorry gotta go.
