James Newton Howard is my favorite composer, closely followed by Hans Zimmer, Steve Jablonsky, James Horner, Thomas Newman, Trevor Rabin, John Powell, Alan Menken, Alan Silvestri, and on and on and on...
@cesarjimenezanimator - Yes - Howard has done all of Shyamalan's films since The Sixth Sense...Howard's music is always great, whilst the films are always awful, so unfortunately Howard doesn't get the recognition he deserves for his music...
@cesarjimenezanimator Yes, every M. Night Shyamalan film (that he directed at least) since The 6th Sense has the score composed by James Newton Howard. My personal favourite is Lady in the Water excellent piece of music ^^.
anyone have note sheet for these movies or other movie music sheets, for any instrument. i have like 20 000 notes in my computer, so ask if you searching some notes, and we can trade :)
@HenTodolo yes but alot of people say its not. I loved it, M. Night Shamalan (spelling) is one of those people where u have to have an odd appreciation for his movies and Lady in the Water is one of them
@HenTodolo Lady In the Water is in my opinion one of the best movies ever made. I'll never understand why it got such negative reviews. But the characters are enchanting and magical while the story is very strong and meaningful and the music is so moving...you'll get the chills just at the very start of the movie. People say that the film was bad but don't let them stop you from seeing it in your own opinion and don't let them "critic" every "bad" movie outta your mind. I highly recommend! =-)
You should do one of these for Steve Jablonsky. He isn't exactly much of a classic as Hans Zimmer or James Newton Howard, but his tunes are often awe-inspiring.
The opening credit music for 'Wyatt Earp' is right up there with Elmer's 'Magnificent Seven' and Jerome Moross' 'The Big Country' as one of the best ever for a western.
Unbreakable and Water World are the best movies in the world! They are the movies you never want to end!!! :D DUDE! Great video! I'm subscribing you! :D
what about Peter Pan? The music for that was amazing and so epic, it's used for movie trailers now. James Newton Howard should be ranked among the best, brilliant!
Thanks for the medley tribute for a completely under appreciated composer over shadowed by tin eared composer hacks hanging on to so-so directors. This man is brilliant.
i would describe his music as having a very simple melody, but just being so perfect for the emotion it is trying to convey. my favorite composer for sure
Hahaha sorry, didn't mean to post the Children of the Corn 2 score as a video response...check out ALIVE, it's one of the most underrated scores of the 90's.
god, the signs soundtracks always gives me the creeps, i always look around if there's an alien standing around watching me! GOSH and i'm an adult -.-
Thank you for remembing Snow Falling on Cedars. One of his best, really, with Tawara especially (used in the trailer for the Matrix Revolutions). Ooh, the Village, Signs and Unbreakable, sweet! Batman Begins should be here, too.
I bought the soundtrack to Snow Falling on Cedars after hearing it in this video, and it's beautiful. The track in this video is called 'The Strawberry Field' and it's one of the best pieces on the CD. Great stuff, JNH!
Oh wow! Snow on Falling Cedars was PRETTY! And Postman was pretty awesome too. Ah, my favorites are his scores for Atlantis, Dinosaur, Treasure Planet, and Lady in the Water. James Newton Howard is my all-time favorite composer.
Waterworld...lol.....ok I'm sorry James Newton Howard is FANTASTIC! (I personally like Peter Pan the best) but Waterworld was a total flop. No offense.
"Begins and Dark Knight were awesome also but he didn't do it alone".
You're right there. It has two names on the soundtrack CD box, but all the tracks scream "ZIMMER ZIMMER ZIMMER" in my ears. I can't make out James Newton Howard's contributions at all.
Not that I have anything against Zimmer. On the contrary, he's the best (besides Harry Gregson-Williams)! But...I'm finding it hard to find PURE soundtracks from Media Ventures composers. They're all mixed up with Zimmer's work.
If you know Black Rain soundtrack you"ll see that Zimmer used some of that music in Begins. Anyway I hope that if there"s another Batman movie Newton Howard have more participation in the slow themes.
the best is the score to The Dark Knight when he worked with Hans Zimmer.. They managed to bring the jokers insanity into music and the dark mood was captured perfect
Never tought it was possible at all to mix the words: "epic" and "minimalist". But that is what Howard achieves with "Unbreakable" score. Just listen to the tiny bit in this compilation.
Too bad you didn't add MY GIRL "Vada's Theme" that one was his best to me, I never knew why they didn't put the whole score on the cd. It was a beautiful score and movie
Nice work. Adding &fmt=18 at the end of your link made this video stereo! This brings real depth to this awesome video .. Brillant editing job by the way! 5*
