  • The lat pull down cable is still better than this IF you know how to do proper lat pull downs, none of that swinging back motion crap.

  • This machine is a must. i'm just glad not many guys like using this machine at my gym, even when they do it's never for long. This machine will literally give you wings if you keep at it.

  • @MrTitanski When you are doing pulling exercises, it's actually ok to lock (eg. Lat pulldown, Vertical row and these pull-ups). Never do it on a push though (eg. Leg press, bench press, shoulder press)!

  • I just joined LA Fitness and I'll be looking for this machine. Looks cool. I always hated doing pull-ups in gym class but with this, I should be able to grow stronger over several weeks

  • @10711851 Hehe.. Well you probably should only use this till you can do a couple unassisted. Then you should rep out every time till you can't even do one and NOT go back to assisted.

  • going strait up (like the idiot in the video says you should) can damage your shoulders. leaning back towards the top is easier on the shoulders and it flexes your lats more. do the exercise in front a mirror and you'll see what i'm talking about

  • @amanuelamanuel Nah, I don't think it'll injure you to go straight up or to lean back. He is really misleading though. Like when he says where to grip the bar. You should be doing them with many different grips.

  • Thank you for showing me what that machine actually is for. I did pull ups in a hotel gym this weekend and I saw the weights and I could not figure out what they were for.

  • @aoeuuiaiui Yes, great invention! Simple, gives hell of a workout (pulls + dips), makes half an equipment in a gym useless, but ... almost never seen in a gym... Why? Cause weighted pull-ups and dips are fucking hard, harder than many other exercises, incl. bench press

  • @aoeuuiaiui ever heard of a weight belt my friend? does exactly what you ask for. Basically a wide belt with a chain attached, which you can grab plates on and set whatever extra weight you want

  • yes and u can use a normal bar go up and land on ur feet and come up again it helps i do it and now i can do iit properly

    Seriously dude, there's alot of technique involved in using machines.

    To be honest, alot of the beginners are doing some serious mistakes, which will reck their body in the long-term. Thats why these videos are made, and they're brilliant.

    And besides, WHY are you watching this if YOU don't need someone to show you how to use a machine?

  • correct me if I am wrong. If I use one of the assited dip/pull up machines as in this video. I weigh in now at 290 pounds, if say I put the weight stack on 100lbs Im only lifting 100lbs of my body weight right?

    and if I put it on the lighter weight say 50 Im lifting Im lifting 240lbs of my weight?

  • Rofl, i'm new to the gym and the dip and pullup bars speak for themselfs, I was using it without the blue thing though lol! I was getting funny looks.

    I'm used to concreat free weights with plastic covers, this is all new to me. :L
