@large74 Holy mother mind making a video describing how you made it that quiet? I'm guessing sorbo, dynomat filled reciever, and PERFECT shimming are the main points?
Short stroking = not worth it. You can gain much more for that sacrifice in reliability. Of course it increases RoF, just not worth it. Running on a larger battery would give you better reliability and higher RoF.
But thanks for at least being somewhat intelligent on YT, so many people firing their guns on 9.6s and freaking out >.< painful.
@airsoftassasins Short stroking helps prevent premature engagement because the piston isn't drawn back as far and therefore has less distance to travel forward, making it readier quicker for the next drawback of the piston. Pre-engagement solved. :) There's a compromise of FPS drop versus RPS gain and that's something the shooter just has to live with.
what do you mean if they go upside down, do you mean if I shoot my gun while I'm upside down? or if Im running upside down and shooting my gun right side up? Or doing a backflip in the air and shooting my gun?
Whatever amount of teeth you remove from the piston should be the same amount you remove from the sector. I don't count the last two teeth before the pickup tooth.
@large74 is there enough space to put them on? Im buying an ICS here soon but wwant it to be quiet. Besides some Helical gears and such....if you can, could you show a video of how you did it. Would be much help to me if you can. If not its cool.
hey man i got a question for you i have a old ics m4 with the 2 piece barrel, idk if ics has changed that with the newer production ones but i was wanting to no can i put a one piece outer barrel on instead of the crap 2 piece. the outer barrel on mine is wobbly as hell!
with some slight modification the ICS has this standard nub above the upper receiver. If you have a dremel you can take it off and then you can put any setup on it.
Where can i buy good guns online? because i usually go to the store shortyusa but is mroe expensive then some sites. and airsoftgi has messed up 2 of my guns, Do you kno a good trusted place?
@large74 i have watched so many of your videos and i just have to say that you are the airsoft guru. So let me ask you this. I have an ICS m4 Ris and i need to increase the rate of fire. ( i play in a CQB facility hear in Washington DC) . Because it being a CQB indoor facility there is a limit on FPs which is 300 . i have a 200$ budget and i am pretty good with tools..soldering and such.also i am buying a CQb conversion kit. . if we can stay in touch that would be great. Thanks
Hey bro...i undersdand all what youd been talking about..I'm an engineer.I just dont like using technical words in here for public understanding. you might know a lot in your field but i'm sure i know something that you dont know..be cool alright.
Nice vid.. and id say short stroke wins for CQB guns,.. definitely!. Do you have a Mosfet in the second gun also? I've tried them all, and have found the High Amp Active Braking mosfets on E-bay are the best so far. I think they are called Precise Tactical or something like that, they aren't the most expensive but they are rock solid. Try one of those suckers, they rock! Have them in all my guns. I also drill out my pistons "Swiss cheese" lol helps with weight and air movement.
@whysogrim good question.... deans are much better because the preasure that is created between the connectors with springs allows for less resistance. taimaya connectors just create contact to allow current to flow.
well, thanks anyway for your time in research.mosfet here in my place cost about 20 dollars. and auto relays about half of it.I sitll prefers the auto relays. and I had been in the airsoft business for some times now.I repair and up grade all kinds of AEG as a hoby and Im good at it and enjoing it.. Its all a matter of opinions. Thanks bro...
i understand if you dont know how to follow a schematic or solder it would cost alot. But. the cost is really cheap for mosfet 1.00 for the mosfet chip, 1.00 for 30k ohm resister, and 1.00 for a 100k ohm resister. thats a grand total of 3.00. if you add a 12 - 18 v diode to regulate the power/protect the mosfet then you are looking at an extra dollar for a grand total of 4.00. you check out radio shack for these parts.
I'm sure you"ll understand why i said that mosfei sucks. It really do sucks. I burned two of it already. The best alternative is the cheaper, compact and easy to install that also serves the same purpose. You guys can throw away those expensive hightech components.
Relays are great for saving contacts and you are right they are cheap. My mosfet setup total cost is 8 dollars. how much is a realy? I check into a three prong and 5 prong they are about the same price I think.
If you set up your resisters correctly, you should not have a problem. The ICS you see in this video has not been changed for since the making of this video. That is about 9 months ago. I think they are worth it to me.
sorry one more thing mosfets are not expensive or hightech. Simple set up. Gate wire goes to one contact, Drain goes to the negative of the motor and the source goes to the negative of the battery. that is it. Unfortunately relays do not increase voltage nor do they increase rate of fire. They do how ever save your contacts. If this is what you are looking for the application is great.
you are absolutely right. what i'm saying is that, I prefers the car auto mini-relays switch than the mosfet. Imagine your car head lights using the auto relays switch, Cheaper, compact and easy to install. just give me your feed back after you tried it.
I will let you know what I think but I think that will be only after time. Since the only improvement will be saving the contacts. I think I might try that in conjunction with Darelington pairs
Bro...auto mini-relay is better than mosfet..try it , Fantastic performance for Lipo bat....mosfet sucks!! it was designed on for stock batteries only.mosfet burns out at more than 10 sec, using 150 SP springs..anybody needs a diagram?
i have an ICS M4 CXP im running all torque - guarder torque up motor 140 spring deep fire full teeth pistons 11 v 2300 mah . the crazy thing is i never once had to change any wires nothing ever burnt out i did change to dean connectors . oh yeah i have no mosfets and the ROF is crazy
aye man, ive got an ics m4 with no upgrades or anything an was wondering if the gearbox could hold a 9.4v 2000mah battery without any harm to the gears or pistin. please respond back, thanks
I run a 9.6 2200 Mah and a 7.4 Lipo with no problems to the gears. the only problem I had was with the piston. I solved that issue by short stroking the piston.
Are you serious? He is my step son, and since I raise him he is my son and I love him with all my heart........ I hope your Dad feels the same for you no matter what.
i don't know why people are dancing around it. that rof is great, it also sounds really smooth. i don't know why people would question short stroking a piston for better rof. you can also short stroke your sector gear. nice video. nice gun.
you need to short stroke the sector gear or the piston will be released and still hit the remaining teeth on the sector gear. If your piston has several metal teeth near the front then you can remove teeth from the sector gear and not the piston at all.
I like working on Guns and for me ICS is easy to work on. For durrability KWA is good and the price is just riight. In my opinion I would choose ICS over KWA because of the split gearbox design. This is excellent for indors. For outdoors I would go with the KWA
you dont have to fill in the gap do you?

Shor stroke increased the ROF, but the FPS power is smaller. So you must install stronger sping to get back the FPS.

thank you, this was an old video, but thanks for the info.

@large74 If yours shimmings are really much fuck uped it will break your gears faster than better shimmed gearbox :o

@puskajuss11
Yea your right something I learned about two and a half years ago.
large74 7 months ago
@puskajuss11
I don't understand, what is uped? I have been running my ICS for over two and a half years and it is still running with out any problems.
large74 7 months ago
@large74 yes, but if your gears are loose and they go ''upsidedown'' they will break easyer than good shimmed gear...

what do you mean if they go upside down, do you mean if I shoot my gun while I'm upside down? or if Im running upside down and shooting my gun right side up? Or doing a backflip in the air and shooting my gun?

@large74 sorry, I speak bad english -.-..... But I just say if you don't even try to shim your AEG, gears will break faster..

Oh by the way that same gun is still running with the same shimming and motor, that has been over 2 years with the same Job.
