The Kaufmann translations are the most popular ones. They are my favorites, too. I think he captures Nietzsche's spirit best. But there have been some criticisms of his translations in the past couple decades, especially with Zarathustra and the Genealogy. For the Genealogy, I use Maudemarie Clark's translation. She's an amazing Nietzsche scholar, check out her book "Nietzsche on Truth and Philosophy."

The most pressing and important problem I can think of was the translation of "debt" and moralized debt, i.e. "guilt," which are both 'schulden' in German. The translation fails to make a clear distinction between the two. In section 21, for example, "guilt" should be rendered as "debt." This made the second essay very confusing at parts.
That, being taken from Kaufmann footnote, makes clear from the outset the differing meaning or translations. Personally, I've always liked the second essay.
I love the whole Genealogy, but the issue with guilt and debt does effect Nietzsche's claims in the second essay, especially in section 20 and 21, where "Schuld" should be translated as "debt" rather than "guilt." Nietzsche explains in those sections how a consciousness of debt can turn into a feeling of guilt; how debt became moralized. That's a major part of GM.
Maybe you should read Brian Leiter's "Nietzsche on Morality," where he explains this stuff?
IMO, Kaufmann's footnote explains enough. Having a decent, basic knowledge of german, it's never posed a problem... for me, that is. Others I can't speak for. It kind of presupposes that whomever has read the second essay hasn't fully experienced what Nietzsche had to say.

Back when the copyright insanity wasn't so bad, I had plenty of videos concerning Nietzsche. The ones I have now are of no real importance, I'll be the first to point that out. Like I mentioned, I had to remove the videos due to a few seconds of music at the beginning and/or the end of the videos.

The site i wanted to use is trans. by Kaufmann but it was down so i had to resort to another site.
All the books i have of Nietzsche's, which is all of them, is trans. by Kaufmann. That did not happen by chance.
I'll stop by your channel and watch the videos you make concerning Nietzsche.... whenever you make them, i guess.

The Genealogy is a joint translation of Kaufmann and Hollingdale.
As for Clark's book, I'll have to read it. Sounds interesting.

"The German equivalent of 'guilt' is Schuld; and the German for 'debt(s)' is Schuld(en).....
'debtor' is Schuldner; and so forth. This obviously poses problems for an English
translation of this essay; but once the point has been clearly stated, no
misunderstanding need result.
