Bassline for Rush's "Force Ten" on my EBMM Bongo

I believe Geddy was using a Wal and a Steinberger on the "Hold Your Fire" album. Geddy started using a Jazz Bass much later on the Presto album.

i'm not a bass player..but i notice if you play differnce bass it takes more effect on the sound than playing a different guitar...

You just introduced me to Rush, and in a great way! I've been playing bass for just a year now and this seems like a cool -no- beautiful song to try. Maybe too hard for now, but i'll gladly practise to get this one right in the future.

Hey, you re`so intelligent on using sound performance items, see info section...That`s very important, too...I always pay atention to this parameters,misc, sound , effects, perhaps a simple tone movement can cange everthing..As I do not have much equipment than a Fender Jazz Bass California ,and a Kustom ba30 as yours, me and my son have learnt to take advantage of little things,cause that`s the other part on learning to play, to get the sound you need from the gear...

Thank you for your comment! For this video I just plugged my Bongo directly into de sound card's input jack. I have a Kustom Groove 1200 bass head and a Kustom KBA30 practice amp.

Jajajaja. Wow! Esta fue una de las primeras canciones que escuché de Rush, y apenas ahorita me vengo a dar cuenta del por qué me costaba tanto trabajo tocar esas "malditas" quintas sin perder el acompañamiento de la cuerda de A; ahora veo que la clave esta en el "punteo" del índice (que dicho sea de paso, es una "técnica" muy mal vista por los puristas de "fingerstyle", pero pues, mientras suene limpio, eso es lo de menos, creo yo ;))

Hola. Muchas gracias por tu amable comentario. En realidad son quintas. Serían cuartas si los intervalos armónicos fuesen G-C y A-D de grave a agudo. Pero son C-G y D-A. Los intervalos siempre se entienden desde la nota más grave hasta la más aguda => De C a G hay una quinta justa, igual que de D a A. La afinación standard del bajo, por ejemplo, es en cuartas. No en quintas como creen algunos. ¡De nuevo gracias! :)

Ya tengo algo en mente para grabar con el T-40 (Pero primero tengo que practicarlo mucho). En cuanto a lo del prog, ¡Desde luego que me gusta! No en vano Rush, Frank Zappa y el Genesis de Peter Gabriel son algunos de mis artistas favoritos. Lo que me pasa con DT es que, en honor a la verdad, tanta perfección me abruma. (Sigue...)
