Sky Blue Sky is the best sandwich restaurant in Canada! All the sandwiches are named after wilco songs.. so sweet! If you live in T.O. go meet Chad and enjoy a "How To Fight Loneliness" such a good sandwich hahaha
John Stiratt has a great future in both Wilco (hopefully) but also as a producer. He is ideal in this regard--listen to this beautiful music, and listen to his bass playing in Wilco. Please produce something for me, John, I live in Milwaukee and am willing to travel! --Steven Curtis Dreyer
@stevencurtisdreyer The production in which both Pat and John have been involved is incredible; while I would agree Autumn Defense would need a huge break to become a new WIlco, given WIlco's chance greatness of combinations, Autumn Defense seem well worthy of great respect and plain enjoyment. I don't mean to leave Pat's work out here, he is awesome. I'd like to know more about the history here in video interviews--any out there? sd
is that 12 string strung with only 6? good song. the album quality is much better of course if youre complaining about vocals. not every great band has a singer with amazing pipes. (for instance my vocals kinda suck)
Keep in mind that this is just a live performance of the song on two guitars. The Autumn Defense's studio recordings are meticulously orchestratd -- think Left Banke or maybe Odessey and Oracle-era Zombies, but with more jazz-inflected chord modulations. At least that's how I hear it. I love all of the quite complex arrangements and interesting chords. The full beauty of these songs might not be as evident here as on the album. John's voice is just a little bit off here, too, unfortunately.
I can see where everybody is coming from...about this song not being great, but it certaintly isn't horrible. Besides John is not used to being a front man.

Beautiful song. Much as I love Tweedy, he benefits immeasurably from the presence of these amazing guys.

Yeah, corporate country sucks. But so does most 'indie' country. Just because you're not signed to a major it doesn't make you any less boring.

I've been a Wilco fan since 95 and I like all John does in that band but this stuff is pretty bad. The songwriting is blah.

I like John as a backup singer, a bassist, a representative of the band, everything he is in Wilco, but this shoe just doesn't fit me.

I saw them open for Tweedy in champagne Illinois... I thought they were awful. This song-writing is just not up to par for a band nowadays.
