  • Violin part is awesome!

  • This song never gets old. I like this version also.

  • que bonita cancion y los acordes sobre todo el sonido del violin

  • "dont hang on" glorious with Elefante, Steinhardt, and Ham... my favorite lineup of the band..

  • I have always love this song, specially when the part of the violin comes

  • aaaaaaaaaaaa seus gringo fdp

  • holy shit this is good singing

  • His version is, quite simply, 2nd rate. It's like having to listen to "Over the Rainbow" by someone other than Judy Garland. Sorry.

  • i dont usually care about this, but seriously, what is there to dislike about this??

  • the black blends in to the black better than the white people

  • This is possibly the best version of DitW I've ever heard.

  • Hagrid?

  • Great performance! Love this song and violin solo from 3:15 to 4:58.

  • Sorry guys, It just ain't right,

  • Elefante's version sounds more like the original than the way Walsh sings it now.

  • Love Robbie's hair! And John and Kerry's too.....

  • Awesome! Thank you for posting

  • in about 5 dust in the wind videos there is 1 dislike, so the disliker must be a very boring man, who likes remember all his problems in his life and the best thing he has to do is seeing beautifull songs and dislike them the most times he can, so this man is going to die soon cause he doesn't like life

  • @steliosxatzi19 harsh...

  • 1:50... Take it away, Hagrid!

  • wow! what a nice version. fantastic vocal. thanks for posting. :)

  • this is the best version of all the versions that i have heard :)

  • The vocals are lacking.

  • This is by far my favorite recording of this song. You can feel the words across the instrumentation.

  • thumbs up if the singer has cute eyebrows!

  • who is the guy with the crazy ass hair? the one thats big and plays the violin? i'd really like to know his name

  • Original violinst Robby Steinhardt bud

  • this song gives me douche chills. (that means its good)

  • 2.34 - 2.55 , my favourite part!

  • My hat's off to John for bravely stepping into that spot for awhile - big shoes to fill.

It can be hard to listen to this one if you are used to Steve's vocals though. I think for those of us who grew up with Kansas - only Steve can really hit the spot.

  • @gladeasy

    Steve who?

  • @Smithfieldis Steve Walsh

  • Great song. Nice vide. Thanks for sharing.

  • Perfect!!!!

  • Not bad, but this sounds better with Walsh. I guess they didn't have much of a choice when Steve wasn't with the band. Carry On Wayward Son sound good with Elefante but this is average.

  • love the blue sheen on the 'fro

  • its animal from the muppets!!!! awesome!!!

  • OutStanding!!!

  • Robbie Steindhardt: No mamesssss!!!! Primo violin conchertino!!!!!!!!

  • We are all same.

  • quelle jolie version, voix violon alto choeurs : trop fort !

    merci !

  • Elefante is one of the greatest singers I have ever seen live, too bad he never did any metal.

  • its a slow version...

  • The singer sounds like he has problems with his nostrils.

But I love how they slowed down the song. Its pretty catchy and the quality is perfect.

  • 1st performance of dust in the wind!

    watch?v=fZ_taL3pWcs

  • Masterpiece.

  • amazing song- cool harido on the violin player too- what're the members names?

  • @QueenBeatlesWings

Singer- John Elefante Violinist - Robby Steinhardt Guitarest with curly hair - Rich Williams Acoustic Guitar and song writer blond hair - Kerry Livgren

Drummer (not in this song) Phil Ehart Harmonica, keyboards, saxophone, backup vocals- Warren Ham

  • I have the video and the whole concert is incredible. A lot of people didn't care for John Elefante singing in Kansas but I think he sounded awesome.

  • wow

  • So real!!

  • this song will last forever...

  • This is a song to be proud of..Bar none...

  • Ein Titel den ich sehr mag und auch gerne auf der Gitarre spiele.Jörg

  • hes not flat??

  • Check out John's studio version of this tune on his website. Guitar part is piano and violin is elec. guitar. Really cool.

  • Agreed! John, in my opinion, is so much better than walsh. His solo albums are Amazing. :)

  • Elefante rocked on Vinyl Confessions, never stopped to listen to him doing this one. Not bad!

Most folks would be surprised to see how influential he became in the recording industry, quite a guy.

  • John Elefante is amazing, his voice, the modulation and the feel. Check out "Defying Gravity" (solo album). Simply marvellous.

  • I like this song and its words.

everything is dust in the wind......

  • John Elefante did a superb job on this.

  • Wow, Elefante actually did a good job on this. Still, only Walsh can sing this perfectly.

  • SEM COMENTARIOS

  • a wonderful song by a great band, boy i hate the scorpion version

  • the scorpion version sucks i think and a cello isn't played in dust in the wind it's a vioin

  • steve walsh looks like my dad's cousin at this concert lol

  • That's not Steve Walsh.

  • John Elefante's "version" is actually really nice!

  • @famousvim26 yeh I like the other singers wayward son version better, but I like elefante in this song better

  • This singer sax!!!

  • but the singer is not the same tha a few years before!!!

K Rocks USA Baby ! Tickster Totally Agrees !

Dust ? or Light Waves New Dimensions Energy Spirit Etc ???

  • He's actually a better singer than Steve Walsh!

  • None's better than John Elefante!!

  • John Elefante Is Good =D

  • ..."all the born again Christians left?" is not singular. Anytime you put an S on the end of a sentence and use the word "all"..in the English language...communicates " more than one". You must have slept through that class..if you even WENT to class. I would watch the name calling.Someday you'll say it to the wrong person and it won't be pretty.

  • I don't think they were the ones that left...

  • his name is John Elefante and he sure is! Steve Walsh is also incredible..he is the original lead singer/keyboard player.

  • this is real music 5 stars from me.

  • yeah one of the best EVER

  • musical direction mostly. three members are born again christians.

  • I take my hat off, to John Elefante. I say that he had done an incredible job of keeping Kansas going at that period. I say taht STEVE WALSH was good too.

  • Hi Vikk666.

As a rock fan, like other people, I like hearing/sharing interesting or trivia details about groups and people. That's a lot of what bthese posts are about - likeminded folk sharing and not all like everything shared. Elephante was a committed Christian and I wondered if it was during his stint with Kansas, due to this song going against the grain of his beliefs. Blinded by science by Foreigner (who performed at/headed the same concert I speak of) was another similar related song.

  • It's John Elefante - I think he was kind of on the way to becoming a Christian by this time, like Kerry L... He later went on to do some serious production work, along with his brother Dino - and his voice is even better now than it was back then. Check out his Wikipedia site for other audio and video...

  • I've found it, it's John Elephante.

Was he a Christian at the time? Ironic song really. Like an atheists depression theme song.

  • This video is about music, not religion.

  • It's more of a philosophical statement than an expression of depression.

  • Oops, just seen the last post which tells me that it isn't Steve Walsh. Who is it? I'm very impressed. The concert I speak of was at the Zeppelin Fields at Nurembourg in Germany and featured Meatloaf, .38 special, Blue Oyster Cult, Motorhead, Iron Maiden and (headliners) Foreigner. I really like this guy and I'm a big Walsh fan.

  • Thanks for posting.

That doesn't look like Steve Walsh singing.

I saw Kansas within a year or less of this (at a huge open air rock festival with Iron Maiden, Motorhead & Foreigner etc. I'm sure he had long straight hair and did not look like this. Can you/anyone update me please?

    Thanks.

  • Great voice. Better than Walsh's.

  • Absolutely NOT better than Walsh's voice, but really really gr8!! :)
