  • @ToxicXxAlyXx (shrug) If anyone else has come across this issue and has found a solution to it, please let us know.

  • It doesn't work for me :(

  • THX

  • Does this work for expansion packs as well?

  • @LadyDetective07 I would assume it does, yes. Please let us know if it ends up working out for you or not.

  • Can I run as windows XP ?

  • @x0blueeyedblondex0 Couldn't tell you, I didn't try. Frankly, I don't think doing so would benefit you any, but if you want to try, you can go ahead, and if it doesn't work out, you can always just reset the compatibility mode to Windows 98

  • For the record, I have never actually had any issues with Sims/Sims2 in Win7. That said, I strongly advise saving often while you are playing...just in case. Also, before you minimize the game to the taskbar, definitely save before doing so.

    .

I think the compatibility issues are mostly happening with older versions of the game (Maybe the CD versions?). My base game is Double Deluxe - DVD from 2008. I also have all of the EP's and SP's installed. Maybe there was a patch in one of them?

  • @rick73test1 Heya Rick, thanks for the input. In fact, this issue does seem to be linked to the older CD versions of the title, which was used to produce and find a solution to this issue.

  • @RodneyDickson

There are still a LOT of the older CD versions out there. Videos like this are very helpful to those who might still have them.

BTW, I haven't had any issues when closing the game. Again, maybe because of patches in one of the EP's or Stuff Packs.

Anyway thanks for this video and for responding.

  • Hi thanks for uploading this video your technique worked for me. But instead of choosing Windows 98/Me I used Windows XP service pack 2.

  • @dgantzman Glad it could help, and thanks for the tip.

  • i didnt thought it will be this easy

  • hey i've got a question. i did what you said but it doesn't work. I have downloaded it. I mount the sims disk 1 in the virtual drive and i go to play the gamave but it comes up with a message saying "Please insert the correct CD-ROM, select OK and restart application". I have no idea what to do. Please help!

  • @living0in0arms : Sorry, I was working with retail discs, not images. Have no idea how to get a disc image to function using this method.

  • @RodneyDickson i worked it out just got the no disc patch :) thanks anyway!

  • My pleasure.

  • your a life saver.. thank you 4 making this tutorial!

  • I wouldn't go out and buy an expansion pack to test it out, but if you have one lying around, I'd give it a go. I'd have to guess it's all built on the same code and compiler, so theoretically the compatibility fix should work.

    Hope it works out.

  • will this work with the expansions???

  • Sorry Delon, guess this trick doesn't work in all cases then...

  • doesnt work - .-

  • Glad to help : )
