@DreamcastFangirl Well, You asked it 2 months ago, but no. Really simple. Go to the site, download the program, click "Install Bootloader" then "Install Rockbox." on your device. However, I do not know how his GB emulator is running so freakin' smoothly on Rockbox O.o Probably 'cause mine's a Classic and his is a video. I got Linux as well in order to play GB roms smoothly.

This will work on the 80 gig pods right? I need a replacement for my Zune which is very quickly running out of space, 20.3 out of 27 gigs used. It's nearly impossible to find a cheap Gigabeat F or X and iPods are virtually available everywhere so I won't have to worry about finding one. But I'm not going to get one if it won't run Rockbox.

You can also put different wads for rockdoom on your ipod, I have doom2 and Doom1, you can just download the shareware versions then put the wads in your rockbox/doom/wads folder on your ipod.

I just put pac'box' on mines. I tried to put a GameBoy ROM, but it wouldn't load. Where do you put your ROMs, in the root or in the (dot)Rockbox folder? 5.5Gen 80GB. Peace out.

you put the ROM files in the root folder. OUTSIDE the .rockbox folder. you get to the game by clicking file and then click on the game :)

apple never made a controler but if you look on youtube you can find videos with ipods connected to controlers. i remember seeing one. I dont know what to look up now anymore though. good luck looking :)

I'm not so sure it voids your warranty... All the warranty says is not to modify the original firmware I believe. This just installs a new OS, since you can still use the original firmware.

doom is a WAD file on the Rockbox site. Pokemon is a ROM file (a gameboy file) get a GB ROM or a GBC ROM file

Sometimes wallpapers are included in the theme but if you want your own picture you have to have a .bmp image which is 320x240. you put the image onto your ipod in the .rockbox directory and there is a backdrops folder already in there.

Then unplug your ipod and boot into rockbox and find your image in the file explorer, once found simply hold down the center button to get to the menu for the image and go to set as backdrop.

I wouldn't recommend it, mostly because it almost killed my iPod 3 weeks after I got it, but, you can get all the instructions needed from the Rockbox website. From what I remember, you copy the Rockbox files to the root folder on your iPod, use the patching program from Rockbox, power it up, it should now be the default OS. I may be mistaken though. Check the website first.
