its sad that hes no longer the voice of the devils, but at least well still hear him a few times during the year, and of course when we go deep in the playoffs
@bobilly47 hes gonna be 65 in a few days and he wants less travel, which is totally understandable. in a few yrs this teams gonna be weird with no doc, brodeur,or lou as gm
This is forgivable... Hockey's fast as hell, and most fans can't see shit until half a second after the puck is in the net, unless you're staring at the net waiting for the puck.
I don't see any need to be embarrassed. Things happen. Keep calling the game, or you're going to miss something crucial while you're licking your wounds.
Mike Emrick is THE BEST ! Exciting, dynamic, colorful, yet self-depricating and humble, I have been following him since the Oilers-Islanders Cup battles of the '80's. Hands down, he is the top announcer in SPORTS ...

Lmao Mike emrick was calling a game a few days ago and he did the same thing intead it was puck knocked down with a high stick and he goes and we have an upcoming penalty to so and so.... then the whistle blew and he didn't understand wtf was going on. To be honest i cant stand the sound of Emricks voice.........and he talks about complete bullshit while calling games... for example Pens Vs Caps he was talking about how crosby played catcher for his high school baseball team pls just stfu doc.
Hockey is BY FAR the toughest sport to do as far as play-by-play. I can forgive gaffes like this. As someone else said, the fact that he made fun of his own eyesight afterwards justs makes it all the more forgivable.
I agree and disagree at the same time. khockey requires more descriptive skill and the ability to talk fast. As far as baseball goes, the in-game action is much slower and easier to call. You're right about in between pitches though..half of calling a baseball game is knowing what to say to keep the viewers attention- use of stats, quotes, anecdotes, observations, etc etc

yeah hockey is hard to do... but if you want to be a good announcer, baseball is the hardest because you have to keep talking between each pitch.

At least he had the humility to make fun of his eyesight and other things when he found out he was wrong. That's the mark of a good commentator.
