There are ample other things to eat which would allow them to leave the whales alone. They just don't care. They really do want to kill the whales specifically. Do the Japs blame the whales for Hiroshima? Or are they afraid the whale will surpass their intelligence in the next few years if they don't do something fast?

Man doesn't learn from history. Climate changes combined with man's overhunting is what made the mammoth extinct. Large animals just don't populate quickly enough to compensate. The whales are facing the same situation, but with an added bane. Our world's oceans are being polluted. Mercury is becoming a big issue. So all this added up almost guarantees extinction of the whales!

i was watching a show where American scientists wanted to do research on whales... so they used a dart gun that took a skin sample the size of a pencil eraser, and from that they knew about the whale's weight, health, age, diet, sex, growth rate, and most importantly, mercury levels! So if the japs need to kill 900 every year just to learn of DIET, then how skillful are their scientists? If Minke really are "not endangered", what are they doing?... Hunting them until they make sure they ARE?

I dont want to learn about a tradition where ppl stab whales pull them out of water and tie them behind a car while they are alive. Drag them across the road into a slaughter house while they are alive. Slit there throats while school children are watching and wait for them to suffocate on their own blood. I don't have to guess because I have actually been to school and have quite a good education.

My family are whalers and the meat we eat is tested every time and there is never mercury in it. Stop spreading crap and making a fool of yourself. No one respects you for speaking crap.

Let me explain something for you....

I have a balanced diet, and fresh whale meat provides things that beef does not.

Although fresh whale steaks look like beef and taste like beef, they also give essential minerals, nutrients, vitamins and oils which are not in bovine beef.

Fresh whale tastes really good and i can recommend it. It is great to eat as part of a broad diverse dietry intake. It's actually very healthy meat too.

In Norway we only harvest the over abundant Minke whale :o)
