yes although it depends how loud you drive it. At full volume the TT just about catches it. I would front end the TT with a tubescreamer if playing metal
Really low. You can almost hear the guitar acoustically over it. maybe 1 - 1.5
When it gets louder I tend to switch from the Line 6 distortion to the HT5 as it is nicer at higher levels. Having said that I'm now rehearsing almost exlusivley using the Fuz z Face emulator on the m13 and a clean tube amp. Sounds great
cool i saw u say u dint think it would be loud enough to play with a drummer, what if you had a bigger cab? im just looking for a pretty portible tube amp thats got some gain to it
That's the one I lug to rehearsals when I can't be bothered taking the Marshall. The HT5 sounds great through my 4x12 but the 5w is never going to enough to drown out a drummer unless he is a mouse :)
I use the Tiny Terror and with the volume maxed out and the gain at about 11 o'clock I can get a clean sound that is loud enough. I feed that with the distortions from the Line6.
@C7ble I'm afraid i have to disagree with you there man, i agree the orange tiny terror probably would be better for the situation. but i've got this amp and i am running it through a Hayden 4x12. it is plenty loud enough to be played with a drummer and be heard. We've used it for both rhythm and lead and it's been as loud as our other guitarists 100w solid state at 80% volume
@hollandb21 I guess it depends on a lot of things, (style of music, loudness of drummer and bass player, size of rehearsal space etc)
It doesn't work for me under those circumstances, just not loud enough. It may keep up with a solid state amp but wattage figures between valve and solid state are notoriously mismatched
GReat it works for you, it still isn't loud enough for any of my bands I'm afraid (great practice amp though)
The Orange distortion is really nice but I also need a clean channel and it doesn't have an fx loop which I would need for delays.
If you play dirty most of the time and back off the volume on the guitar for a cleaner tone then the TT is the amp for you. This just isn't loud enough unless you mic it up
Is that amp loud enough to play with in a band? Because i have an open back 2x12 and i'm looking for a great head for it and so far this looks like the one. but i need to know if its loud enough for band practice.
Good stuff! I bought a Blackstar the day they came out and I love it. I've also been looking at the M13 pretty seriously. I adore the idea, and it's great to use, but I had trouble integrating it with the 4-cable method. Could you tell me how you hook yours up, and how drastically it affects your tone?
I split the m13 into 2 banks so I have 2 fx going into the front end and 2 in the fx loop. I run boosts, screamers, flangers phasers and wackier stuff pre amp.
I run delays and reverbs post amp. You can split the m13 anywhere though, so you can run 1 pre amp 3 fx loop or any other combo you fancy.
In terms of tone, at the kind of volumes and the kind of use I put it to I'm not too concerned.I'm not sure I would record with it but it is fine for practice and with the DSL it works very well live
It's important to hook the correct cables up in the 4 cable method which trips a few people up. Remember you use the fx send into the front of the amp and the fx return to the send of the amp.
I'm rehearsing with the big rig this weekend but I'll try and find some time to video my set up and cable placement.
I have some good instruments though which always helps in terms of tone.
Sady no, It is a workhorse DSL 100. Clipped a few capacitors and it is a nice amp. Not a keeper though. I'll replace it when I find something better (or have enough money for a Soldano) :)
hi, very good sound. I have also the line 6 m13 witch is great and i am thinking of buying the blackstar also. How does the combination of the two sounds? Did you try the blackstar combo also? Please make some more demos...
Nice Clip . . .Awesome sound.
I got my HT-5 for only $200.00

Hi, this amp has a SERIES effects loop, right? Thx

Do you agree that the blackstar has more gain than the TT?

the blackstar has a tone of gain available- metallica uses them as practice amps

Go for the Orange Tiny terror then.

I doubt it.
It's 5watts and although that is plenty loud in the house I think a drummer would easily drown it out (depends on your drummer of course)
I'm kind of tempter to get another head and run them in stereo to see what kind of noise that makes....

I did a video but I need to tripod as I was cabling up with the cam in one hand and it turned out useless. I'll put it on the tripod and go again.
The second part I did a demo of the sound I get though and that is posted up.

I love Goldtops, One day.. I have a quick rear wheel drive Japanese car too :) although mine is an S2000. Love the look of RX7s though.
C7ble 3 years ago
Lol I also have a HT-5 with a M13 and a Les Paul, but mine is a goldtop, what a small world it is. Great video as well.

Nice feel, your Les Paul sounds great! I'm buying an M13, is that drive from the amp or the M13?
p.s. I have a Tiny Terror also, PERFECT crunch! Is that a JCM 800?

The combination sounds great and is extremely versatile. To get a 2 channel all valve stage amp with an FX loop (which is important with the M13)
I'll post some stuff up with the Blackstars natural distortion soon
