@solateado - that is where I first saw him sing the song but it simply didn't compare to him singing it live! I was surprised that he doesn't speak French - and how proud the French crowd where about him singing this. So hoping he sings it again in Paris in october

@Tiggicat - I am sure the concert in Paris in front of Parisians was electrifying, but when I watch the DVD, it is like he is singing to me and me alone. I zero in on those eyes and lips and my fantasies take flight which is all I can do at my age! His Italian is much better than his French, but having said that, I would listen to him gargle with mouth wash and still think it was beautiful.

Hi Tigs ! Many thanks for posting this video. It's a jewel ! Josh was perfect performing Piaf's more touching "chanson" of all. The lyrics are full of feelings and drama like her life. I'm a big fan from both singers. I love Josh singing also in italian. He has a perfect "R" in both cases. I hope someday he could sing also in portuguese, my mother language.

I don't know French (or Spanish or Italian for that matter), but the feelings come through anyways. I don't know why I cry when I hear this - it just has so much feeling. It transcends language. And I think it took a lot of courage for him to sing that in Paris - I know they are very proud of how their language is spoken. Don't know why, but this is absolutely one of my favorite songs that he does. Beautiful!

Thanks for your comments. The French Grobanites were lovely - giving out hearts for us to wave and so proud that Josh was in Paris. He attempted a few comments in French but then spoke English the rest of the time.

I think the emotions that went into writing this song and then Edith singing it hours after Marcel was killed always come through when it is sung well with understanding of the story.

That was 1 of the best performance I've seen in a long time. Nowadays artist spend 2 much time raising voices and doing their own thing n songs (even national anthem) Its best when its plain and u can sing along with the singer. Well done Josh. GREAT POST. I loved it

Thank you - I adore this song. The reason it always makes me cry is that Edith wrote it for the great love of her life (Marcel Cerdan) whilst waiting for him to join her in New York - and his plane crashed on the way over so he never heard her sing it

Thank you - it was only the 2nd time I had used my new toy (dvd recorder) and the zoom is wicked. But it is probably my favourite french language song and he only performed it in Paris and Brussels as far as I am aware.

The Paris show was amazing - my fav city and fav venue - and the French Grobies were lovely to this mad englishwoman!
