  • how much does it cost

  • No USB3 or SATA 3 D:

Well since this is the only half decent looking P55 board I can find I guess i'll have to wait till Ivybridge and upgrade my CPU too.

  • @canthaguild

exactly what i was thinking too... just gotta wait for ivy bridge to upgrade lolol

  • asooos? asus! also zip ties tie zips. cable ties tie cables.

  • Also what is the CMOS clear button at 5:30 ?

  • Also what is the start and reset buttons on the board?

  • Can anyone tell me how to use the MEM ok button? what is it for? also how do I use ROG connect?

  • thank your 4 video,

what dose it mean by (m ATX) OR (u ATX) or... factor?

  • @hassanbasafa it means that the size of the board is a micro ATX form factor. If you want to know how big that is in dimension just go to wikipedia and look up atx all the info is there.

  • im building my 1st PC, for gaming, stuff like COD and Guild Wars 2. I wnated to keep my i5 processor and needed a 1156 socket, i chose this, and the colour scheme really goes well with the case i bought (NZXT Phantom White with red stripe LE) WOOP! shud be here monday!!!!

  • The first thing there is the motherboard - Asus has a catchy color scheme that you see, but HAHA We're gonna take it away from you. - that made me laugh so badly!

I LAHV YOU LINUS. You act like yourself on camera!

  • @LinusTechTips PLZZZ RESPOND . Can i mount a Nvidia video card and will it still work?

  • @icko125 please announce me too, I'm curious....

  • A-A USB Cable = ROG

  • Asuuus or AAAAAsus? I'm confused.

  • i want

  • whats the differences between this motherboard and the non p55 ASUS Maximus III Gene mATX?

  • is the built in sound card a "Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium"?

  • I believe the USB A-A is for ROG connect

  • @ Jcapehart2 yeahh , he knows a shit tonne more than you. He actually builds computers and works at NCIX ( Canadian computer company) for a living!

  • you dont seem to know to much about computers you just seem to know basic hardware terms. The USB cable is for your ROG (you know the thing you also stated you dont know what it is)

  • @Jcapehart2 Maybe he has never heard of it @ that time maybe u should watch to is video's know

    LITTLE B*TCHASS

  • Can you PLZZZZZZZZZZZ do a video on EVGA P55 Micro pllzzz

  • I mean the Interface

  • this mother supports only SATA 3Gb/s am I right? does that mean that if I buy a Western Digital HDD Caviar Black for 1T, which supports 6Gb/s, then I will not be able to use it on 6? (only up to 3?)

  • I have this mobo, but I'd like to know if anyone here has tried to connect TWO Asus ENGTS450 DirectCU vid cards to use in SLI mode? Since the vid card itself seems so massive (in comparison to your average vid cards), it seems a bit of a tight squeeze with two of the same cards. Has anyone tried to fit in 2 ENGTS450s? I'm willing to give up my PCI sound card and use the onboard sound card if I have to. - If you've tried this, please let me know!

  • lol nice... i'm not a experient on PC's but can u tel me if Ati radeon hd5770 hawk 1gbddr5 works on ASUS Maximus III Gene ??? pleaseeeeeeeeee

  • @D44D1 5770 should work fine on the ASUS maximus gene III

  • 02:58 o.0

  • OKAY so i noticed this mobo doesnt have an IDE plug, so how do I connect an optical drive to it???!?!!?!?!11!

  • @RumbleM0NKEY IDE is extremely old technology. Spend $20 and get yourself a SATA Optical Drive. ;)

  • i love this motherboard so far. so sexy

  • Looks like 8 people don't know whats good

  • Comment removed

  • guys... crossfire is gonna work with 2 8x, thats bad?

  • @julianomaxter no because it is PCI-E 2.0

  • @pdani72 so its 8x 8x and one more question, can i use this motherboard on a high tower?

  • @Ankido94 yes you can

  • @pdani72 ah awesome, And its 8x8x in crossfire?

  • @Ankido94 yes, but that is no problem you will only loss 2% each slot =)

  • @pdani72 Awesome thanks!

  • "baang!! just like that"

  • @LinusTechTips 2:58 you might wanna add an annotation with "Maximus THREE Gene". ;)

  • I want to SLI GTX 470's or even GTX 570's Will this board fit them? Will it cover any ports?

  • @FalloutUnlimited yeah it will fit just sli means x2 gpu

  • DID WINDOWS 7 FOLLOW WHIT IT ?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • STICKERS!!! D:

  • @STEELDIRTLORD15 Yep. It'll look tiny in there, but your case will house this motherboard just fine. The HAF 932 is good for Micro ATX / ATX / Extended ATX

  • @AFGalwayz What mATX means is that it's a smaller board that is meant for small cases. Yes, it does do both SLI and Crossfire. :3 Always check your case dimensions first to see which sized motherboards are compatible.

  • could i put this motherboard in HAF 932 plz some one tell me

  • @STEELDIRTLORD15 Yes you can the HAF 932 supports Micro ATX, ATX and Extended ATX.

I have one and its got a Micro ATX in at the moment.

  • its a fuckin old and poor motherboard.a lot of games drivers are not compatible with the maximus!!!!pay u a nvidia or a good gigabyte.maybe not too nice but nvidia or gigabyte are verry better than asus!!!asus sucks

  • im new to building computers...what does micro atx really mean? does it mean that i cant crossfire 2 radeon 6850s?

  • Linus that memory with one clip is not unique to asus . msi use it on the 890fx-gd70

  • I'm going to get this board for my rig.

  • @BLSoldier00 and i m coming to mug u from behind haha !!

  • will this board work with a 4 pin power connector ? :D

  • @driesmp

    Yes

  • Does Windows 7 ready means that it comes with Windows 7?

  • @FlyThruDAir

hope this is a joke.. it only means you can run windows 7 with this board.

  • @Mikkis2k Unfortunately, not a joke :P. First time custom builder here. Thanks for answering

  • What to choose between this and P7P55D-E PRO ?

  • on the 8 pin mobo connector can you get away wit a 4 pin or does in noy work like that?

  • Can you fit two gtx 460s in sli on this? Will the 2x8 speed on the 460s make a noticable difference?

  • How cand you connect a 3pin fan connector into a 4pin connection on your motherboard?

  • @dkreventon Easy. You can just plug it in. It's like a 3-pin with an extra pin attached.

  • Should I buy the Asus Maximus III Gene or the Gigabyte P55-UD5?

  • Mate, That is a very well spoken and professional review. Nice Work. Keep it up.

    :)

  • @nsx2200

    +1

  • why dont they make a asus Crosshair III Gene

  • can 3 pin fan connector work with 4 pin fan connector?

  • @FELIX0123 Yes it can.

  • omg nice motherboard !

  • Great overview of the motherboard!

  • nvm, i found it. sry. :3

  • how much ram does it support? (sorry if he said what it supports, im sorta noob. :P)

  • Can you use 2200mhz ram whit this mobo?

  • At 3:02 he calls it the maximus 2 gene

  • Comment removed

  • This motherboard is not great, two consecutive failures in three months.

  • What does it mean by windows 7 ready ? does that mean that the board comes with windows 7 ?

  • @ssg963963963 it means that you can run windows 7 with it.

  • odd question for you or maybe anyone that reads this, im just curious about osx compatibility. anyone check it out?

  • 3:01 here is the maximus TWO gene

  • Maybe it would be wise to check out the specs before making the video - for example to understand and be able to explain the USB port for the ROG Connect feature.

  • ur unboxing vid was enjoing 2 watch ;) keep on man :D

  • Och vart fan ska man koppla in cd rom:en?

JUSTE! Tänkte du inte på va?

  • That board is probably scrap due to static electricity frying the parts.

  • @unrealeck Probably not. Brand new components are FAR less likely to get fried from that, then a dusted down old one.

  • @tntiger84 Never heard of that. Strange.I don't see why a new piece of hardware is any different from an old one.

  • @unrealeck Tiny dust build-up will uncapsulate the components over time, which allows static electricity to build up, causing potential for disaster.

  • I always figured the soft material on the back of the I/O plate was for vibration dampening and electrical grounding.

  • Getting this board and pairing it with an H50 for cooling, plus a squeezing in a 5970 for the graphics and a GTX 260 for dedicated PhysX. That would give me a suitable LAN rig :P

  • @AndraBullar LIER!! ATI doesnt have Physx dipshit

  • @Ksquaredgaming GTX 260 is nVidia. Dipshit. And anyone with more than one braincell and half a neuron can combine them.

  • wow... you just repeat everything that say in the box what about the tips... are u making a second vid?

    nice board btw

  • Very nice motherboard.

  • Will a XFX ATI Radeon HD 5850 fit on this board and a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer ?????

  • yes

  • HD 5850 will fit most matx case, anything larger you need a full atx case

  • Got a 5870 with this mATX board, 5970 could fit as well. It's just about the case if it will fit or not.

  • ASUS has a VERY VERY slow site. I was downloading drivers for my other mobo and the speed was 30kb/s and the file was 300MB!!! I left to download overnight on the laptop. Not good.

  • @AMVDawg use a program called thunder5 if u know chinese

  • @AMVDawg Look for 3rd party websites

  • @AMVDawg I download from the china server and is way fastar than the outhers servers

  • It has quality of service (QOS) enabled acording to the hardware you are downloading drivers for, the oldest the slower!

  • I have question.

Is there enough place to mount a good cooler when u want to overclock the cpu?

  • @killuminatii1 I think there is enough space for u.

  • how much?

  • I am buying that mobo!!

    Combine with a i5 750

  • aren't thouse usb 3.0 conectors

  • Cool vid, cheers :)

    was entertaining

  • what a sexy looking MB. I want this in an E-ATX version :D

  • *points you to EVGA's upcoming dual socket-1366 mobo*

red and black, seven PCIe slots, twelve memory slots, two sockets, dimensions longer and wider than E-ATX, and a price tag that will no doubt put several bullet holes in your wallet, and then reload the gun for another shot

  • IT'S ROG connect linus... I guess watch your asus maximus III review that u did 4 months ago you talk about it..

  • if your gonna do this videos do your research first so that we as audience members know the actual features and not assumptions

  • @sbvikings30 I agree, but it helps anyway if you're a techie and if you read alot :) I guarantee that you'll learn way more that way (I'm not being sarcastic so please do not get me wrong :))

  • never saw it that way and i am a techie who reads alot so i knew this product before the first look but your right if he just gave us all the information we wouldnt learn anything

  • 3:42 the one thiiiing

  • oh if only I had the money =)

  • you can get it, forget about the money, You just have to believe!

  • is this a fun card?

  • "Teak it the "hardcore" way" Linus you know what that mean.

  • The USB is for directly overclocking using a different pc or laptop

  • @Antje14 Yes, it's that ROG Connect feature :)

nice unboxing Linus, but you really should read a bit about the product you're unboxing BEFORE you actually "unbox" it :D

  • you know the "poofy shiny stuff" on the IO shield plate...? ok

well i had to rip that off cos the screws wouldnt line up with the holes in the case for the motherboard which was kinda bad design, this was for p7p55d pro. and coolermaster storm scout.

  • it should fit just to let u know

  • hmmm, lets go fire factory workers.

  • It's for the ROG connect ( the USB cable ) it's ment to connect with another computer i.e a laptop to overclock on the the fly using your laptop as a control center. On the fly overclocking has never been made easier :)

  • dude!!!

you didn't talk about those white things at the end of PCI-e slots!

  • Use this DVD because is for windows7, you now what you did ther?

  • poofy shiny stuff=))

  • wow this bored blows me away,

kinda shattered i just got the Gigabyte GA-790FXTA-UD5

  • yeah but its different chips so you are dissapointed u bought am3 sistem?

    if u got a 955 or 965 you actually done a good job:D

  • oh hehe , i got the 955 ;]

its just because i speant so many hours deciding what mobo an yeah. this looks sweet lol

  • How much does it costs?

  • Freakin awesome board!

Hope ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte or whoever make a high end AMD mATX board with the 890FX chipset when it's released, sick of my basic board.

ASUS, make this board AM3/890FX and you have my money ;)

  • the usb cable is for connecting the motherboard with an external notebook through the specific usb port (the one that Linus don't know what it's for), and pressing the RoG connect button beside the port to activate the mode..

Seriously Linus know what you are unboxing before doing it!!

  • 2:55 Whats this for ?

  • awesome reviews Linus

  • very nice board!!

  • great accessories from asus.

    lovely product.

    5/5** as usual man.

  • nice to see HD videos from you for a change :D

  • Man Asus ROG boards look so damn sexy, i went with MSI due to cost reasons + OC genie but they dont look anywhere near as pro as asus boards

  • msi lol ;p

  • @b0ss6769

    What's wrong with MSI?

I've only ever heard great things (e.g. the 790FX-GD70) :)

  • @Aaronage1

    no comments bro :D :D

  • I love my MSI GD-80 dude, very happy with it but i was just saying they dont look as good as Asus

  • Yay no IDE crap^^

  • "But, I'm going to take it away from you HAHA"

    -_-

  • Im another aussie fan here, and also I dont recommend these micro X58 motherboards if ur gonna overclock, the northbridge just gets stupidly hot, I know I have a EVGA X58 Micro motherboard and just like vallentyn2007 said, they do reach up too those temps, recommend get a aftermarket northbridge cooler or heatsink.

  • @Lionheart1188

Isn't the northbirdge integrated into 1156 CPU's? I can't imagine the southbridge gets too hot :)

  • linus you always say "dont use this dvd" for drivers. but can you run it without drivers until you can download them?

  • Of course yes.

  • That is a very good MB except that is know that the northbridge gets as hot as 85 90 degrees Celsius :(.

  • Micro ATX is such a nice form factor.

  • That is a cool motherboard.

  • Love the videos mate, keep up the awesome work! From Melbourne, Australia :P

  • i saw "mate" and thought australia... then i read on and saw victoria, good to know linus has australian fans!

  • Hahhah yeah, Dude like you dont get quality and quantity like this from any one else. I love the videos!

  • wewe anyther aussie from vic here too ^^ nice vid linus ;o

  • God that's so sexy. I love Asus mobos.
