I believe that justnloke the eye can only see 20 levels of gray not thousands, so it is with being able to percieve differences from enhanced and high definition
He says the M3 have the same sound engine (EDS) as the OASYS.
But as far as I know, it isn't the same.
What I read was: M3 have EDS - Enhanced Definition Synthesis (24-bit processing) OASYS have HDS - High Definition Synthesis (32-bit floating point processing)
And there is a big difference between them, when it comes to applying a lot of effects and calculations over the same sound sample.
Yes, there are some good sounds here, but I feel my sanity fading everytime I search for answers regarding customising KARMA of presets in my M3 without success. For instance, I want to turn a KARMA module off for a particular scene, so as to play it's instrument freely when switching to that scene. The user interface is so hard to understand!
no doubt it's a super instrument. Still the price is less than motif xs and fantom g. I want to buy this but i've a little confusion. I've never used a korg product before. Only used roland and yamaha synths. I've heard that korg's touch screen display looses it's sensitivity after about 2 years of using. I mean it's longevity is lower than a yamaha and roland. Is it true?
Great keyboard. How should I decide between the Korg M3, Pa2x Pro, or the Tyros 3? They all seem very powerful. I'm particularly interested in the accompaniment features and less so the workstation aspect of it. Interested in contemporary and spacey sounds. Thx for any opinions.
The sounds of this Korg may be nice but I found it very unintuitive to use in comparison to the Roland Fantom g and the Motif XS. I definitely like its joy stick better than the Motif's two wheels, and it's a little better than the Rolland's joystick, but I Roland Fantom G wins the competition. Actually, I bought the Motif XS8 and I am returning it to replace it with the Roland Fantom G8
@MARANTZamp I totally agree with you, the buttons are especially annoying! They look all so cheap! And the touch screen display seems like a cheap way to trick one into buying it, I personally am not too impressed. I mean, it's awesome coz none of the other keyboard have it, but ahhh.. Can do without it! I loved the M1, but since then, I havent been impressed by Korg at all. After the M1, the Fantom took the torch, and now the Motif has it.
i want one of these but the only thing i hate about all korg products is the red/pink lights under the buttons and crap...why not blue? i love blue...the only blue lights on this are the screen and X/Y stick :(
generally most synths use red because when your playing on stage in the dark, you can look at a red light without having your eyes adjust to the light. that's why they make a lot of car dashboards with red light so they won't blind you while you're driving, and digital alarm clocks so you can see the time without them hurting your eyes. of course the huge touchscreen defeats that idea by making you go blind because it's so bright.
Who can tell me the best way to hook up the m3 thru pro tools. if I hook it up thru the midi in and out can I still use the sounds from midi and what is the detail. I need help
@kizz06 The Yamaha Motif XS surely is great for acoustic sounds, but not as good for electronic music as maybe the M3, since the yamaha sequencer doesn't have piano roll edit
Just ordered my Korg M3 ! Got the Studiophile BX5a Deluxe moniters from M-Audio and im ready to friggin roll. Its being shipped to me and i cant wait.
with the exception of the touch screen the Motif XS wins hands down especially with the voices and 8 layer sampling. Keyboard feel is irrelevant I like the feel of the Motif
I agree with 88SPIKE 100%. The Motif XS is light years ahead of anything korg has to offer. Yamaha has nailed alot of the sounds the others are having trouble with.
i own a motif, and i'm saving up for an m3 right now. all of the sounds on the m3 are sooo well put together. it's amazing. all you have to do is compare the piano sounds to be able to tell how much better the m3 is.
and don't forget about the oasys man. don't say "anything korg has to offer." the oasys is the best thing out there right now. i can see why some people would argue motif>m3 but there's no argument against to oasys.
The motif is a great board I agree but it is not light years ahead of the m3. The drum kits and the karma drum kits sound like nothing else I can play just on the preset drums for hours and write songs so easy using the karma and the drum kits or make my own kits. The motiff does not even come close to the karma 2 technology or the kaos pad that is built inside of the m3. I do agree that some of the accoustic sounds and bass sounds in the motiff sound better.
Yes but just think about this. Ive played on this board its amazing. With that superman track or with the orchestrals you can literally fine tune any thing you want so you can get the perfect sound that you want it to have and when i say this i mean they perfect sounds. You can do it with the guitars anything! Its amazing. He played the superman on stock karma orchestal sound. Just imagine what u can do its truly spetacular.
The M3 is full of recycled Standard Korg sounds. I had an M1, O1/wfd, Trinity, Triton Studio -- and it seems they all have the same sounds in them. Now the only Machine with a great feeling 61, and 76 keyboard is the Fantom G. but if you want Fantastic acoustic sounds and realistic Guitar arpeggiators you will need to get a Yamaha Motif ES
I hate the Keyboard feel. What happened the Yamaha FS Key bed? I noticed the Yamaha Motif XS appears to use the same one.. It's sad because the keybed is lousy. The wood trim is a really really bad idea.
youtube really isn't where you should be looking for audio quality demonstrations, the compression really hurts quality and makes everything sound terrible, if you haven't noticed already
no its not better than triton extreem i baught a m3 befor 5 days im feeling so bad becaus its not sam triton extreem its so bad 4 me iwant to sell it and im looking 4 triton extreem its cham on you korg why m3 not taking the program of extreem
I just bought a M3, it's nothing more than the Trinity, Triton, and Triton Extreme combined in one board, and why the hell it has a touch screen that changes color, when you move the pitch bend wheel, escapes me, they put way too many unnecassary things in it, but it def is the best workstation out, next to the Oaysis
Bought one three weeks ago. My first keyboard, and I'm blown away how much it can do. Definitely not ugly; looks very clean like an ibook. It's quality.
Now, someone tell me where I can get in depth video tutorials. Korg's manuals are geeky and dry as it gets.
Absolutly you cant make hiphop with M3 its got stock 150 different drum kits I believe and with the Karma Combi its freaking endless combinations and beats!
