Its awesome they reference this in the latest episode! I think all the younger viewers like me kinda forget that this show was around years and years ago.
@millyybabess I agree, I love it when they reference the old stuff. I was very young when the original Dr Who ended (I remeber seeing a Colin Baker episode when I was 3 or 4 and was so terrified of it I refused to watch it again), so I only got into it when the new series started in 2005. That's why I love DVDs!
@millyybabess not all of us have. i'm 18 and i've watched all the old Dr Who eps i love Dr Who!!!!
loving this quote to its a brilliant ep and Tom Baker was a brilliant Dr Who. not that i'm going to do that whole 'my fav dr is...' thing cause tbh they're all brilliant and have all brought something new to the character and i think they're all very brave taking on the role when its such an iconic character! =)
Robots of Death is the only one I've seen and own of the Old Who. It's good fun, despite its lack of budget. The Doctor being buried alive is quite a genuine scare too. You won't see that in modern Who I can tell you that. Since Eccleston's Autons, walking corpses and gasmask zombies the tone of the new series has shifted more to action/adventure instead of horror, although "Midnight" is still downright terrifying. The new new series has built on that even further with fairytales and puzzles.
Did you see Tom's facial expression and his reaction after the Jelly babies are knocked out of his hand? Also what he said afterwards? THAT is merely one reason as to why he is the best Doctor. I'm actually watching this great Dr Who story(Robots Of Death) right now. Not that this is a bad story but I sincerely believe that even the worst Tom Baker stories are better than any of the Doctor's stories that came after his tenure. A testament to how great this era was!
@penguinboy935 One, they're delicious, and two, they're made from Gallifreyan fruit(and sugar)! Gallifreyan fruits taste rather odd, but quite delicious to most Time Lords.
Jellybabies would be best described as a cross between gummy snacks and dried fruit. The're... peculiar. Check your local grocer's "ethnic" aisle, especially if they've got some British foods there.
It's like not being able to discern between magazines "Astounding Science Fiction" and "Seventeen". I... I'll just never get that. It's this infinite psychological curiosity.

Yeah, during its hey day when it wasn't camp. It seem to start out as a straight children's drama; then Jon Pertwee's era got all campy (the master is snidely whiplash), then Tom Baker became like Sherlock Holmes meets the Twilight Zone... for a small while, but I still had to sort of wince through little things like that scarf, and then producers changed, k9 came along.... Somehow drwho became co-opted by gays, which wouldn't be bad except that they made it into, "Absolutely Fabulous" sans wit.
if i meet Tom Baker at the convention in barking i wanna bring a bag and ask him if he want's one after hyperventelating because i'd be in awe of meeting my favourite and the best doctor ever the one and only Tom Baker.
Yeah Tom Baker was a good one. I prefer Patrick Troughton, eventhough I haven't seen that many of his Doctor episodes since a lot from the first two doctors are unfortunately lost :(
Though I think Matt Smith's Doctor is a bit like the one from the Troughton era. Well mere matter of taste. Don't want to engage in one of those "my fav. Doctor is better" things.
@PsychoSebastian There's a reason that Smith reminds you of Troughton. Smith's favorite Doctor is Troughton and he has said in a few interviews that he incorporates some of Troughton's style into his own interpretation of the character. :)
